It's embarrassing, really. The mission was exhausting, sure, but usually Bruce is able to keep himself more or less upright until the debriefing is over. Everyone else manages it somehow. But this time - well, this time he can't help but nod off. He's just so tired, mentally and physically, and Steve's droning on and on about politics and training, and Tony's shoulder is right there...

He isn't sure how long he's out for, but when he wakes up it's just the two of them in the boardroom, his cheek still planted firmly against the other man's shoulder. Jerking slightly in surprise, he mumbles out an incoherent jumble of words to the effect of "W'happen?"

[ the mission had been trying— truly, all of them were. every so often she could feel the irreparable tire beginning to gnaw at her bones, the life of a gamer far different than that of a woman truly putting herself on the line. how she'd managed to be nudge up against 76 in the first place, her memory is faint, but one by one her breaths are beginning to slow, chest finding that even rhythm familiar to sleep.

[The nice thing about the kids growing up is that someone else can be trusted to be up front to pilot the Blackbird for a change. They're on the way back to the mansion after a another mission. No one's gravely injured this time, but it seems like it had exhausted everyone, even former goddesses.

[Rosalind comes to the clinic because she's afraid. That's maybe she's still the living dead because of Madimi's magic, or that Madimi retains a hold on her and will at any given moment push out her soul and take over her body, all because she was stupid enough to be seduced by Madimi's angelic disguise.

Madimi, the horrific eldritch demon.

She only means for Kate to look her over, to tell her whether she's alive or dead or soon to be demonically possessed, but Rosalind hasn't stopped being afraid since she was imprisoned in the Tower awaiting her execution. The seemingly endless insanity that followed has left her exhausted in mind, body and soul.

Stuttering a poor explanation for what she needs checking only tires her further; it makes it real, it exposes her to judgement. There's no good way to say that you were seduced by a demon who looked like a beautiful angel, that you were killed trying to protect her, that she brought you back to "life" but only so that she could use your body as a vessel at a more convenient time. That you are too afraid to look in a mirror in case you still have no reflection.

Perhaps it's the simple act of sitting still, or merely her adrenaline fading that allows it overwhelm her. One second her eyelids are heavy. Then, in the space of a breath, she falls limp, straight into slumber and straight onto Kate.

[Given how much Dale has been helping her out in little ways lately, Kyoko can't come up with any reason to turn him away when he finds her in the aftermath of a particularly brutal witch battle, staggering almost knock-kneed and worn threadbare with exhaustion. Her only real concern is that he doesn't know a thing about her life as a magical girl, or she doesn't think he does, and that makes the whole thing rather hard to explain.

But he hasn't asked for explanations yet. He's just a silent, comforting presence beside her on the train, which is so much what she needs that she doesn't even feel herself relax; one second she's blinking a little bit more slowly than usual, and the next she's slid over in her seat and leaned against his side in a dead sleep.]
