"There's some chilled wine on the counter if you'd like a glass." Clark is almost done with the dishes from dinner; pots and plates already sitting in the drying rack next to the sink while he finishes washing the silverware. He pauses to look out the rental cottage's kitchen window, watching the sky turn interesting colors as the sun sinks below the horizon. While his favorite sunsets are still back in Kansas, he has to admit that New Mexico produces some amazing visuals. Ones almost as breathtaking as the woman who just let him cook a meal.

They'd met last year at a conference on NASA, an event his mother needed a plus one for, and ended up spending half the night talking about astronomy, space and science in general. She'd given him her number, he'd reciprocated with a business card, and a few calls and emails has turned into this ... he isn't sure exactly what it is, only that he can't imagine her not being in his life now. And lately, once purely romantic thoughts have turned into something decidedly not pure. Carnal, if he has to choose a word. He's just not sure if Jane feels quite as strongly, which makes broaching the subject a little intimidating.

How does one tell the person they suspect they're in love with that they'd like to take things beyond making out and that they're actually an alien from another planet without sounding completely insane. Or like a creep. "There's some coffee, too, if that sounds better."
