The scouts said it was safe. That the horde had moved on west, and far out from the city limits, and that whatever noise they would make arriving, it would not draw it back. That all turned out only half true. They arrived without issues in the early morning, sure enough, Legolas himself and a man he might have seen around but never really spoke to. Not until now, anyway.

Between the two of them, they divided the tasks based on skill and familiarity. For as long as Legolas had been here, he was still only learning the ins and outs of a world like this, with technology advanced beyond his understanding and, sometimes, interest. Sinjir drove what they called cars, a pick-up, and he was the one to spot and mark supplies they were meant to take. It was far easier for him to make those decisions on the fly, than it would be for Legolas. Whereas Legolas was the eyes, he was the ears, and the firepower. Guns and rifles displeased him - too loud, too smelly, but he had to admit they were powerful -, but he had a pistol on him anyway, as well as a pair of knives and ... a bow. Human made, but modified by his own hand to better suit an elf. Small yet powerful.

The few shambling creatures they came across were each met with the same fate. A short, firm arrow stuck right through their skulls.

And at first it did seem like an easy task, indeed. Get in, gather the supplies, get out and return to the safe haven. In the world as it was, it was nothing out of ordinary at all. For all they knew, the intelligence was solid and yet—

Legolas heard it first, those same groans and hisses that accompanied them every night but in a much greater intensity. Still far, but coming closer. On the street level, as he helped load a box of medicine on the bed of the pick-up, he could see nothing, not with how many turns the streets had. So he darted quickly back to the building. It wasn't too tall, but it would still allow him to see farther. He all but flew up the several flights of stairs, shoved the roof door open and unceremoniously killed the walker that greeted him. And did not bother retrieving his arrow right away.

Up here, he could see it— one street in the distance packed with a number even he couldn't count from here. Up here, he could hear more too. And it seemed like the horde not only split into a few groups, which were now approaching from different parts of the city, but indeed, it did return as well. They never left, they only increased their... hunting grounds. Nobody was left in the city, nobody alive anyway...

Would you be up for a scenario and crosscanon/media with basically a younger, vidya game Michonne expy? (No Richonne necessary, heh!) We could set it in TWD-verse, so maybe they were hoping to scavenge in a megamall or other shopping establishment but the place was overrun by Walkers and they're trying to escape? I could throw up a starter when I have a chance to think one up, but wanted to toss some ideas your way and/or see if you had any to add to or revise what I roughly sketched out. I am current with TV show canon so if you wanted it set at any particular canon point it should work.
