« MINE » meme
❝ᴍʏ ᴡᴏᴍᴀɴ, ᴍɪɴᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ᴍɪɴᴇ ᴀʟᴏɴᴇ❞

In nature, animals can be territorial. This makes sense; it's a cutthroat world, and you have to keep what's yours just to survive. They keep a close watch on lands, food supplies, and even sometimes mates. Pet owners can tell you that this instinct doesn't just go away - try getting that chew toy from your poodle. But what about people? Aren't we just animals, too? But for us, possessiveness is not a good social trait to have. That's understandable. Nobody likes someone so hung up on owning things. Especially not owning their lovers, since you can't simply have another person like that.

Yet even the most benign, most monkish of souls have possessive streaks at some moments when it comes to the person they're sleeping with. It's only natural. Usually, it comes from jealousy. You like having what's yours (even if it's a cruel way to think about things, that's the reptile brain peeking through), and you'd want it to stay that way. That means you want to show up the competition and remind the object of your desires that you're the apple of their eye. Of course, possessiveness doesn't always come from jealousy. Some people are just very, very...how do we say it...protective of them and theirs. How can they help that they want to show that in intimate ways?

In relationships, possessiveness throughout isn't healthy; still, a little bit of it can be actually arousing, especially in the bedroom. Today, the hotel is awakening that side of characters: the part that wants to screw their partner mercilessly to show them that they are the ones to touch them, to love them, to fuck them.

But my character isn't the possessive type, you say? Really? Really? As we've mentioned before, even the most kindhearted types feel it every once and a while. This meme never mentioned that it had to be a HUGE show of possession. It can even be a playful attempt in order to get their partner going or try a new kink in bed. Or, you could say the "influences" made them do it.

After all, there's plenty of prompts here to influence you.

HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character and preferences. You also may want to include if your character is more or less likely to be the possessive or jealous party, but please note that all characters have the potential to be that in this meme. Otherwise, you'd get a lot of passive pillow queen characters to be fawned over so be mindful of that.
- Reply to others!

PROMPTS

HOW
1. Induced Jealousy: Whether by taunting or misunderstanding, one partner is jealous and wants to make sure their lover knows that they're the worthy - and only - one.
2. Insecurity: There's no outside source here, only self-worth issues that cause a need for possession.
3. Pushed by the Other: "Man up!" "Show me you want me!" "Grow a pair!" You can only take so much.
4. Making up for Losses: You can't be together outside the bedroom, so you have to make up for it here and you want the bed to be your domain.
5. Rivalry: People of a certain age will remember a certain song about rivalries. The boy/girl is yours.
6. Necessity: You live in a society where you must show a certain amount of possessiveness over your lover.
7. Nature: Breeding and mating urges, oh my!
8. In the Mood: No particular reason, you woke up feeling like a lion in their terrain.
9. Hate You...but Don't Want Anyone Else to Have You: What it says on the tin.
10. Virginity: You want to claim what no one else has, and that will be you and you only.
11. Playfulness: All this is simply fun between the two of you.
12. Cruelty: You want to humiliate your partner by reminding them that you're the one in charge here.
13. WILDCARD.

HOW
1. Intense, desperate sex (not necessarily rough).
2. Rough sex.
3. Marking - either discreet or in places that could easily be seen.
4. Clothing (jewelry, lingerie, slutty clothing, and in some cases, collars and other trappings).
5. Reminding your partner that only you can bring them this much pleasure (overstimulation).
6. Public or semi-public sex.
7. Cheating, cuckholding, or netorare - essentially showing your lover that they may not be with you, but you're the one who gets them off.
8. Orgasm or pleasure denial.
9. Non-consensual.
10. Making them say who they belong to / dirty talk.
11. WILDCARD.

Months had passed. Close to half a year, just a few weeks short of it. Not that she counted the days. At least, Seth didn't think so. Or he tried not to think about how she seemed like the sentimental type between them. Who was he kidding? He was plenty sentimental himself or wouldn't have a clue how long it had been since they last saw each other.

The apartment he paid for was left in her care to fix up how Margo saw fit. He knew she didn't care about the money but he spent it anyway. Paid a full year for the studio loft in the Village near all her favorite stores. It wasn't a kingdom like she shared with Eliot because Seth left her as the only ruler.

He hadn't meant to be gone so long but knew she wouldn't give a shit about his intentions. A month tops turned into five in which the past two, there hadn't been any communication on his end. Seth didn't know how to answer her messages. They had been together for over two months and a third by choice, not necessity. In that third month had been the lease of the loft and a trip to Ibiza.

Somehow, Seth managed to convince Margo to go alone with him instead of Eliot. It hadn't been longer than a few days but felt like a honeymoon for the months they spent together. Enough to scare him a couple of days after returning. Everything was going great, it was bound to fall apart so he bailed before it could. With promise to return but a hasty exit all the same.

The first few weeks were continuous texts on meeting up with his brother and working out overdue business. In addition to the texts, there were phone calls and video chats but he was already distracted in them. Margo might have felt that way as he attempted to disengage from what they had. For a man who wanted to die old, fat and in the arms of a beautiful woman, he started to throw the possibility away.

Only until she butt dialed him on Facetime and he saw her with some other guy did Seth get a much needed reality check. He couldn't talk right then and Margo didn't answer his calls when he finally tried to reach her. Not his calls or texts. His focus for jobs came to an abrupt halt. Richie could see it and refused to go through with a planned heist.

"Just go, Brother. Work your shit out. You're no good to either of us like this."

Seth didn't know what he'd find when unlocking the door and entering the loft. He stopped trying to contact Margo for the last couple of days while making the trip. Valet seemed to eye him warily when turning over the keys to his classic car. Maybe he just didn't recognize him from the one week almost six months prior. No. There was no forgetting his car.

Something more was at work. Something like the other men Margo probably brought around. Maybe there was one inside right this moment. With a fifty dollar tip, the valet probably didn't want to tell Seth that there was another car in his space. Or maybe he didn't want to give bad news to a guy who pulled a canon of a handgun out of the glove box.

There were more guns in the duffle he packed that was hanging over his shoulder when Seth finally made his way into the loft. The bag was dropped next to his shoes once inside. He locked the door behind him and took out the gun tucked in the small of his back, leaving it in hand as he eyed the upstairs loft.

For all of her life, Margo had a knack for choosing the wrong guy. It would always wind up that he was unfaithful, a plain jerk, or someone who would steal her life force and channel it into making a living clay likeness of her. Thankfully, that last one had only happened once. She liked to think that Seth finally broke her pattern of dating losers. He treated her like the queen she really was and there was nothing that flattered Margo more than actually being treated like royalty. When they went out, she felt like they owned the world. It was all too perfect.

Living in the village loft was supposed to be a great life, ideally one shared with Seth at least some of the time. For a while he was by Margo’s side, and there was nothing Margo loved more than sharing a bed with him, but before she knew it he was as good as vanished. Her stubbornness came into play as she phoned and texted him every day, but every day became every other day and over time the texts became even less frequent.

With those hot nights in Ibiza being only a memory, a distance began to grow between the two of them that was more than physical. Margo couldn’t explain it, but she could feel it, and it left her feeling utterly alone in her gorgeous studio loft. When a guy came on to her in a bar, she let it happen without discouraging him. Margo even flirted back in that way that was so incredibly natural for her. In a haze of sassy one liners and alcohol, they were back up at the loft Seth had bought for her, in the bed that was meant for her and Seth.

It would be inaccurate to say that this happened only one time or only with one man. These rendezvous numbed over the loneliness and longing Margo felt for Seth and helped her forget for a little while that he didn’t care to return her messages. It was only that one accident that brought her indiscretions to light. She couldn’t really say that she regretted any of it, but she was worried of what might come of it. Worried that maybe she might have hurt Seth, in spite of the anger she felt for him blowing her calls off.

When Seth walked into the apartment, Margo was walking out of the bathroom, having not heard him enter at all. She gasped at the sight of another person, a little surprised. Being dressed in only another man’s white button-down shirt that smelled distinctly of that man’s cologne, she felt like she was caught in the act all over again.

She folded her arms across her chest looking like she was the only one who had a grievance. “So you finally decided to come back?” Margo stared at him with fire in her eyes. There was a part of her that wanted to run up to him and kiss him, the part of her that was glad that he was just alive, but her ego made her put on an angry face. His silence had offended her and she needed to make that clear.

Taking slow steps up to him, she held that fiery gaze. “What was it going to take to get you to answer a text, Seth??” Her chin trembled as she spoke, raising her volume slightly and glaring at him.

"Whoever THE FUCK, is in my FUCKING BED! ...You've got sixty seconds to run your ass out of here before I start putting additional holes in it!" he called toward the bedroom as Margo approached. Seth wasn't sure what got him first; seeing Margo in another man's shirt or the smell of cologne.

He only wore what she bought him, fine with just deodorant if left up to him. Seth was wearing now what Margo last purchased for him. It wasn't overbearing but still a musk. Nothing like the shit stinking up the loft. His chest was pronounced as he breathed. She probably noticed how a vein bulged near his temple--a definite sign of anger on his end.

There wasn't anything to say other than what he just shouted. No way would he have a conversation with an audience around. If she chose to leave with the asshole, Seth couldn't refuse her. Somebody was keeping the bed warm while he was away. It was stupid to think she'd wait.

"You might wanna give loverboy his shirt back," Seth quipped with contempt. Her chin might have trembled but his face was ice. He had a calm grip on his gun regardless of the rise and fall of his chest. Like the communication between them over the past couple of months, he ignored Margo for what he needed.

At the sound of Seth’s shouting, a man hopping into the legs of his pants came into view. This was the man the button down belonged to, the same man whose cologne Margo smelled of. She didn’t look at him, instead choosing to glare at Seth as she unbuttoned the shirt she wore. Once the buttons were dealt with, she practically tore it off of her form, thrusting it into her other lover’s arms. He took it and hurried past Seth without so much as putting it on, rushing out of the apartment and neglecting to even say goodbye to Margo. It wasn’t a perfect ‘goodbye’. Far from it. She didn’t mind. He had only been a replacement and now she had other things to deal with.

Though she was completely naked and, in theory, vulnerable, Margo still glared at Seth with that fierce look on her face. “Are you gonna pretend you’re the only one here with a right to be angry?” She spat at him. As much as she would have rather preferred to believe that she was completely in the right, she knew she had erred when she cheated on Seth. Her intentions had been good and she could justify what she had done, but it was still a mistake. It was just that he had made a mistake, too.

Her lip quivered almost as if she was about to either begin crying or go on a rage, but all that followed was Margo storming up to him and shoving him with little worry about the gun in his hand. “You left me! You didn’t even answer my texts!” She pounded tiny fists against his chest. In any other situation, seeing a 5’2” woman going on a rampage like this might have been funny, but Margo was dead serious. By the time she was finished pushing him around there were definite tears in her eyes.

“I was lonely, Seth.” Her voice lowered slightly and she wiped at the corners of her eyes. “You just left me here. What did you think would happen?”

Margo might have had her attention on him but Seth glared at the man in his place, silently wishing to burn a hole in the asshole's head. He'd have to settle for committing the chickenshit to memory and being able to spot him from a mile away if the bastard ever dared to come within a mile of his place or Margo again.

Seth sauntered behind the idiot and locked the door once more. Now she had his eyes narrowed onto her. "Let's get one thing straight, your highness; I don't pretend shit." That was a lie and it had nothing to do with the con aspect of being a criminal. He liked to act as if no one could get through his armor. That was far from the case. Here he was, miles away from his brother to settle things.

Few things ever separated the Geckos. However, Margo did manage to catch him off guard with how she shoved him. Seth quickly put the gun back into the small of his back rather than chance an accident. Her blows weren't anything he couldn't put up with. Strong hands took hold of her wrists and kept her in place. He didn't change expression, finding anger and annoyance easier than any other emotion at the time.

"I had business to tend to! I was here for almost four months playing house with you. Why did you think I paid up this place a whole year out?" he yelled back and let go fo her wrists. The hold to stop her from hitting him changed to hands on her hips so she wouldn't run from him. "It wasn't to run my dick up other chicks. I was saving all that for you."

Far from the most romantic thing he'd ever said but his feelings were as raw as the condition Margo was standing in front of him in. "You knew I was goin'. Don't act like I left you. Don't fuckin' say that shit again. You understand me?" he commanded more than asked a question. Seth didn't deal well with having his loyalty questioned or any impression that he abandoned someone who meant something to him.

Nothing Seth had to say could soothe her seething anger. Her jaw was clenched and there was fire in her eyes as she stared him down. “What the hell were you doing that you couldn’t give me a decent call or text, but the second you see me with another guy you can stop everything and haul ass back here?” Her eyebrows raised as she challenged him.

Her eyes narrowed. “I deserve more than silence, Seth. I didn’t know if you were hurting or with someone else or if you’d just got bored with me. You don’t know the places my mind went.” Somehow, using the tone of voice she was, she managed to make the words sound angry even if they were coming from a sad place. Margo was pissed off and her mood colored everything about her.

Margo put her hands over his on her hips, prying his fingers up to get hers underneath but not bothering to move his hands. “You never even gave me any warning you’d be gone this long! It felt too much like you walked out on me, Seth, and not even with any real closure. I missed you.” Her tone was beginning to soften as was her expression, but only slowly. She shook her head slowly and pulled herself free, turning away from him.

She lifted her head slightly without really turning to face him completely. “What are you doing out there, anyway?” He was with his brother, she knew that much, but that was where her knowledge ended. Maybe he was working jobs. Maybe he was lying and there really was another girl. Margo’s mind could really run wild at times like these.

Walking over to the sofa in the center of the room, she pulled a blanket off of it and wrapped it around her like a shawl. Really she had nothing to hide from Seth, but when they were arguing like this it felt a little awkward to bare so much of herself.

Nothing was said on his end as she demanded to know why he stopped responding to her calls and messages. Jealous anger fueled him to a point where it was dangerous for him to immediately act or they'd never recover. As it stood, Seth wasn't sure they'd come back from this at all. He watched her and shook his head with disdain when Margo challenged him.

Something in him tightened when she slipped her hands under his, then even more as she eventually pulled away. A part of him wanted to snatch Margo and keep her in place, feeling that she had no right to walk away from him. "I told you! I had to get right with my brother. Past and present business. There wasn't anything new to say the last couple of months. We were dealing with shit you can't even begin to understand!"

She might have softened but Seth was only hardening. "You have a real funny way of showin' it, you know that?" he scoffed bitterly at her words of missing him. It was the coldest his brown eyes ever stared at her. His arms folded tightly over his chest for a moment then released as he started to talk with a hand as the other perched on his hip.

"We didn't exactly meet at a coffee shop, Princess. I could've been locked up and it would've been a lot longer than just a couple months of radio silence. I told you the first few months away that I was sorting shit out so I could come back. If I gave you any details, it'd make you an accessory after the fact. Did you ever stop to think just once that I was protecting you?!"

No matter what he said, it didn't make Margo wrong even if he was right. Seth never gave any indication he'd be gone so long and there was no good reason to have stayed silent for weeks, much less months. Traveling to and from Mexico, there was still wifi and ways to answer at least briefly. It mattered little that he hadn't been with another woman when not taking care of Margo at all but none of that came across in his words or disposition.

"But you're absolutely right! I did stop everything thanks to your little video message. I've driven nonstop since seein' it. Richie wouldn't go through with what we had planned out because he knew my head wasn't in it, too stuck on you. I get here and this ain't even the same motherfucker that you were with in the goddamn video!" he belted out the end angrily and charged upstairs.

Seth wondered what he'd find in the bedroom. More evidence of other men? His things all missing? He aggressively started pulling off the linens almost as if he were going to trash the entire bed, mattress and all.

Seth didn’t seem to buy that she missed him and that hurt. While it felt like a pain straight through her heart, Margo tried not to show anything on her face. She was stubborn in that way. Instead, she just looked at him, shaking her head. Margo didn’t say anything on the matter. She had a feeling, almost a certainty that he wouldn’t believe her no matter what she said in the state of mind he was currently in.

“Then make me an accessory! Do you think I give a shit about risk?” She held her arms out, raising her voice in contrast to the soft tone she’d begun to speak in. Truthfully, Margo had never thought about punishment or prison in a serious way. It just wasn’t a possibility in her mind. So when she asked to be let in on all of the details, she wasn’t really considering the weight of what she was asking. Honestly? She didn’t care. She would have been there for Seth regardless.

“Nobody mattered except for…” She trailed off, eyebrows knitting together as she watched Seth climb the stairs. “Seth?” Letting the blanket fall to the ground, she ran up the stairs after him. As he started to pull off the linens, Margo grabbed him by the shoulders, trying to stop him, ground him. “Seth! What the fuck are you doing?” He looked almost possessed in his actions to her, the way he was pulling at the sheets so angrily.

Giving up at holding him back from behind, Margo pushed herself in front of him and stood in between him and the bed. “Seth…” She said his name in a low voice, sounding like she was pleading. “Can we be honest and just not fight?” Her eyes were full of emotion, but she tried to keep a straight and calm facial expression.

Lifting her hands, she put them on his shoulders again, this time using a light touch. Somehow she had it in her head that if she could calm him down then maybe she could fix things, but in the back of her mind she suspected fixing things was impossible. Maybe they’d hurt each other too deeply.

She knew the blame for this blow-up rested squarely on her shoulders. Seth wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for her indiscretions. He wouldn’t be this angry if it hadn’t been for her affairs with other men. He had some blame to claim, too, though. Margo would have been perfectly faithful if he hadn’t blown her off. They were two flawed individuals. Maybe something like this had been inevitable.

He rolled his eyes exaggeratedly when she shot back to make her an accessory. She couldn't possibly mean it, more than likely confusing accessories to her wardrobe for what he was talking about. Margo didn't come from a criminal element and he wasn't about to turn her into one. It wouldn't be just a slap on the wrist but prison time.

Yet the offer managed to get under his skin. He knew she was smart enough to know the difference and it affected him for her to offer that kind of commitment.

Commitment maybe wasn't the best word under the circumstances. Seth charged upstairs, jealousy making it impossible to think clearly. He could feel her at his shoulders but wouldn't stop until she wedged herself between him and the bed. Their bed. His eyes were dark and piercing as they stared at her, his chest pronounced with breath from the exertion.

"Are you kidding me right now?" he asked incredulously but without an increase in volume or any hatred. His words were borderline shaky and slightly winded from all the anger in him. However, they were more wounded than combative. "You want me to be okay with you fucking other guys while I'm gone? It ain't gonna happen! Not now, not ever! How's that for honesty, Doll Face?"

Seth ached to touch Margo. Kiss her. Take her right there and claim what should've been rightfully his. It felt as if his breathing were pronounced from the pain of her betrayal but he refused to utter a word about any of it. She stood naked in front of him and he could only see her in the other guy's shirt with her watching hopeful that the asshole would glance her way on the way out.

Doll Face, Princess – Margo knew that he didn’t mean any of these names affectionately. They were both too angry for that. When she heard them, though, she longed for affection. Just because she’d screwed up in a monumental sort of way didn’t mean she’d missed him any less, and missing him meant missing hearing those words falling off of his lips. If she didn’t think he’d reject the action, she would’ve glossed over apologies and reconciliation and kissed him right then.

“I don’t want you to be okay with it. I know I made a colossal mistake. I’m not okay with it.” She pointed at herself emphatically. “You know what else I’m not okay with? I’m not okay with you keeping me in the dark about whatever it was that made you run off to,” Margo made air quotations with her fingers. “Sort shit out’ wherever it was that you were with your brother.” Her tongue quickly wet her lips as she took a brief break from speaking. When she spoke again it was in a quieter tone of voice. “It feels shitty when you’re on the outside looking in. You could have told me something. Something vague, even.”

Margo had something on her mind, something she’d wanted to ask in every text and voice message she’d left him. She’d never been able to do it before, but more than ever it was starting to feel like she had nothing to lose. She bit her lip and thought hard about it for a few moments.

“Were you warming up to leaving me?” It was better than saying You were warming up to leaving me, weren’t you?, which was actually what Margo had wanted to say. In spite of the loft and Ibiza and everything they had shared, Seth leaving her to figure things out with his brother seemed like a giant red flag to her. Maybe she was paranoid. Maybe she was looking for red flags. She desperately hoped that she was wrong.

What Margo shared with Seth was like a lot of other relationships she’d been in for a lot of reasons, but in many other ways it was incredibly unique. Margo had never felt this much chemistry with an individual before. She’d never cared so much for someone else before. Seth was important to her and for as careless as she had been with their relationship she definitely didn’t want to lose him.

His eyes narrowed at her acceptance of blame. He wasn't getting angrier but cautious, a wary curiosity over whether or not Margo really meant what she said. Loyalty wasn't something Seth took lightly. Not even his own brother looking out for him by ending their abusive dad had gotten a pass for betraying family, and it was Seth that received the brunt of Ray Gecko's heavy hand.

Yet, he did eventually forgive Richie. His brother was certain it was either Ray or one of them and considered it their only out. He couldn't stand to see Seth take both physical and verbal beatings from their old man. Richie had a genius intellect and he was right; the physical punishment only grew steadily worse where Seth not only blacked out but ended up in the hospital a few times.

But that was family. Margo was... Margo was a woman who didn't know him from Adam yet took him in and nursed him back to health, never asking anything in return. Seth had thrown money at her which she only took at his insistence and never the full amount, just enough for whatever he asked of her. She had earned his trust.

He didn't want to listen to what she had to say but found himself doing just that. They were words he'd heard before, even from his ex-wife who did eventually become part of his crew. However, her insistence led him to a job that went south quickly. Vanessa had made up for it when Richie broke him out but the brothers spent five years apart that Seth found himself still making up to his brother.

Margo wasn't going to fit in his life. She wasn't wrong to ask him what she did. He unconsciously started to soften, his shoulders finally falling and his breaths not so pronounced. "How more vague can I get than sorting shit out with Richie? If I told you where we were, it'd still make you an accomplice. I crashed into your life, you don't need any of that bullshit."

He had a habit of making decisions for others. Richie hated it. In all honesty, no one was a fan. Seth started to search her eyes with a gaze that projected a plea for understanding that his lips didn't say.

"If I wanted to leave you, I woulda left without any of this. You gave my chance after chance. Why would I even be here now, if that's what I wanted? If I ever had an out, this'd be it." He closed his eyes and shook his head, frustrated. There were so many scenarios in his mind on the drive over on how this would go but Margo derailed them all by having someone there.

It was time to cut their losses and go their separate ways.

When Seth started to speak in a softer tone of voice, Margo almost found herself longing for the shouting. Hearing him speak in a conversational tone somehow made her hurt even more, not for herself, but for him. More than ever she regretted what she had done. It was all washing over her now, the realization of the things she’d done since he’d left her behind. It didn’t feel good at all.

“I told you, I don’t care if I’m an accomplice. I don’t care about risk.” But she said it so softly she might as well have not said it at all. In that tone of voice, even though she was completely sincere, it didn’t sound like there was any conviction behind the words. Margo may have been willing to stick by Seth’s side no matter the cost, but she knew that he cared about her too much to let her risk it all for him.

She could feel her eyes welling up. She knew that she wasn’t going to fit in his life, too. Defeated, she plopped down in a seated position onto the bed, sitting right in front of Seth. They’d messed things up beyond repair this time. Margo had messed things up. All he’d done was step away for awhile. The killing blow was hers and hers alone.

Looking up at him, those big, brown eyes filled with tears that never quite rolled down her cheeks, Margo sighed. “I swear to god, Seth, I never meant to hurt you. I just wanted to stop hurting.” She looked down at her own lap. “I’m sorry.”

It was never easy for Margo to give apologies. She was too proud by nature to accept fault, too stubborn. Even when it came to bickering with Eliot, apologies were few and far between, but this time she knew an apology was due. Seth deserved far more than apology, but right then an apology was all she was able to give him. It wasn’t as if she could go back in time and undo the things she had done to him. She couldn’t go back and fix the trust she’d betrayed.

Reaching out, she took hold of his hand. Margo needed to touch him even if it was for the last time. She gave his hand a squeeze and held on for just a few seconds and then let go. She needed to let go.

I told you, I don’t care if I’m an accomplice. I don’t care about risk.

Those were words he didn't hear before. Demands to be let into his life were one thing, throwing caution into the wind just to be at his side were something else. Margo had said something similar downstairs but he chalked it up to her wanting to hear from him--she didn't really mean it. Yet here she said it again and crumpled to the bed in front of him.

"Come here," he muttered and used the hand she took to palm her cheek. In the months they spent together, apologies were far and few between them. The occasional 'sorry' when Margo thought she aggravated an injury. Seth didn't care that she had an air about her. It was a draw, if he were honest. She didn't take shit from anyone and no one could last with him if they were a pushover.

The water welling in her eyes wasn't over getting caught or not getting her way. Seth would never have softened if he thought for a second that was the reason for tears that didn't fall. She might have betrayed him but he recognized his part in it. He didn't leave Margo any idea of his intentions or the possibility he'd completely disappear at any given time.

He couldn't continue living two lives and that was what Seth was trying to do. She would need to be allowed in or go their separate ways. "I didn't mean to hurt you either. I just wanted to keep you untouchable if anything went wrong." Suddenly he didn't think of the scent belonging to the other guy or what she might have been doing before he arrived. Seth held her close when she got to her feet again.

"Maybe I also tried to figure out how this was gonna work between us, but it was never goodbye, Babe. I just didn't have any answers for you and figured you'd tell me to fuck off if I wanted you all to myself," Seth uttered with his head dipped and eyes staring with conviction into hers. There was still the question if Margo could be faithful if given the chance, just as much as she probably questioned him letting her in.

She possibly met her match when it came to stubbornness. That pigheadedness wasn't a bad thing necessarily. Seth was set in his ways but that sentiment also meant he didn't easily give up on people he cared about, especially when they seemed genuinely remorseful over their wrongdoing. He still wanted to set the bed on fire but not with Margo in it.

His hand touched her cheek and she looked up at him, slight surprise registering in her eyes. Margo took a gamble in trying to blink back the tears, not knowing if she’d push them in or out. To her, nothing would leave her more vulnerable than letting those tears fall. Luckily, with a flutter of eyelashes, the tears in her eyes were gone, leaving slightly watery brown eyes behind.

“No,” She said in a whisper, giving an almost imperceivable shake of her head. “I… I wanted you all to myself, too.” A huff of humorless laughter passed her lips. “And that didn’t exactly work out right, given I threw it away, but once upon a time I wanted the same thing as you.” Margo swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. This was getting harder and harder, confessing difficult truths.

“I’ve never been right about a guy before.” She chewed at the inside of her lip thoughtfully. “I’ve been in relationships that I thought would work and I thought the guy was alright and he proved me wrong every time, but…” Margo looked to the side for a moment before looking back to Seth. This was the part that would be difficult to say. “For what it’s worth, I’ve been right about you. You’re a good guy.”

They didn’t have much of a height difference, but Margo was still shorter than Seth, so when she tilted her head forward to place a kiss on his body it landed just by his collarbone. She rested her head there, wishing she could hear his heartbeat. Instead, she imagined it, and it brought her a kind of solace she couldn’t describe in words.

Even though everything was completely fucked to pieces, she couldn’t say that she wasn’t glad everything that had happened had brought him back to her. She hadn’t been lying when she’d said that she’d missed him. There had been an unnamable ache in her heart when Seth had been gone and even now when it was apparent that they might be parting ways she was happier to be around him than she had been while he was away.

There was that clear sign of stubbornness, refusing to let her own tears fall. He was secretly grateful. The water collecting in her eyes made him guilt. Not that he ever let waterworks steer him in one direction or another--in fact, Seth detested when a woman purposely tried to use it against him--but in this case, Margo fought to keep them in.

It wasn't easy to believe her words regardless of how genuine she seemed when she said them. No. Seth could believe she wanted him also to herself. Not having him had her careening into someone else's arms and he shared the blame by refusing to communicate. Margo might have had the choice but he couldn't stay blameless. He watched her with his own apology in his eyes.

I’ve never been right about a guy before.

He had an idea of where Margo was going and didn't blame her for it. She was better off without him. Seth didn't flinch or hold any hurt, he knew who he was and his lot in life. Her life had only become chaotic since letting him in. If it wasn't the demands he put on relationships then it was the dangerous way of life he led. Yet as she continued, Margo went in a direction he hadn't expected.

"Baby, no. I'm just as bad or worse than every other son of a bitch you've been with. How many've made the FBI's top ten most wanted list?" he quipped lightly though Seth meant every word. His arms wrapped around and he nestled his cheek onto the to the side of her head as her face rested over his chest. "You're still wrong but I don't know if I can let you go yet."

She could take that to mean how he held her in that moment or longer. Margo tore through the armor that went up when he arrived, fighting fire with fire seemed to burn out the flames of betrayal. ...He started to wonder if there was something more to his decision on having flames permanently marked to his skin. Seth caressed her skin where his hands fell as she leaned against him.

There were still some blank spaces in the history Seth had been given about Margo’s life. She chuckled a little when he argued just how bad a guy he was. He was probably right, but she wasn’t exactly concerned for her well-being. Margo knew just what a good fit they were together. “So you’re a fugitive, right?” Her eyebrows raised slightly. “I never told you I robbed a bank in my senior year of high school, did I?” She paused a beat. “Well, not just me. I was a part of a small crew.” Her shoulders shrugged.

Margo paused, smile vanishing from her face. What was she supposed to think of what he’d just said? She studied his face desperately looking for an answer, but found none. Blinking a few times, she gave up. “What are you saying?” Margo asked in a low voice. She wasn’t the kind of person who had a lot of hope in her heart being a pessimist by nature, but she really did hope that he meant they weren’t over just yet.

She nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck, preferring that to making eye contact with him. Margo was too raw for anything that direct. If she only had a little time left, this was how she wanted to spend it – Close to Seth, hearing his breath in her ear. She kissed his neck lightly and rested her forehead on his shoulder. If they parted ways, they’d be okay. Margo kept telling herself that even though she was anything but sure of it.

Lifting her face, Margo finally looked Seth in the eyes. She couldn’t bring herself to say or ask anything, she just looked at him, searching for some kind of answer. God, she wanted to kiss him, to pull him onto that desecrated bed and reclaim it as theirs, but she knew that it wasn’t the time. Margo didn’t even know if she’d ever kiss him again.

"C'mon, you didn't really--" The words died in his throat. Looking at Margo, he could tell she wasn't lying. His senses were never wrong about that. Seth arched a brow as a million questions ran through his mind. The first was naturally why she never told him before. Yet questions never came, knowing he hadn't been the most forthcoming about his life either. Before or after they stopped being strangers.

She questioned him now and he felt exposed, grateful that Margo opted to rest her head against him than continue staring into his eyes. He wasn't ready for that full confession just yet. There was an uncomfortable silence between what he was afraid to say and what needed to be said. Seth was sure there were also things in between.

One thing was certain, he couldn't take the scent of the other man on her. Scent was something Seth unconsciously was honed in on when it came to intimacy. His hands came up to cup her face between them. "Look... You go clean up. Take a shower. I'll put some fresh sheets on this thing and make some coffee."

He would've liked to join her and clean up from his road trip but they weren't ready for that. Not unless it was goodbye. Seth kissed her forehead and let her face go, waiting to see what she'd decide.

There had only been a few people that Margo had let in on that particular secret and even they hadn’t believed her at first when they’d heard it. It seemed to dawn on Seth soon enough, though, that Margo was telling the complete truth. That was how well he knew her. That was what brought a smile to her face. She doubted that she could ever get away with lying to him and there was something refreshing about that. Did she know him as well as he knew her? She liked to think so, but only time would tell for sure. Time that she didn’t know they had. Margo could only hope for it.

She gave a faint smile to him as he cupped her face between his hands, hands that she loved so much. His palms and fingertips had always felt amazing traveling over her body. It was funny how you could grow attached to certain attributes of an individual. Margo nodded at his suggestion. A shower sounded like a good idea, so long as he didn’t vanish while she was washing the traces of the other man away.

“I’d like that.” Margo smiled as he kissed her forehead. Maybe they were on the road to fixing things. She certainly hoped that they were. This was how things were supposed to go, right? You made a mistake, you atoned, you fixed it, and you moved on and never made that mistake again. Margo promised herself she’d never hurt Seth by cheating on him ever again. It was a big promise, all things considered, but she was known for grand and dramatic gestures.

Patting his shoulder, she started to walk away towards the bathroom, but she stopped and turned. She wanted to say something, that he was important to her or even that she felt like she was falling in love with him, but all she could do was look at him from a distance, a small smile playing on her lips.

“I’ll be right back.” Her smile brightened a little at the utterance of those words, and she turned and padded barefoot off to the bathroom to wash the stink of cheap cologne off of her body.

Something tug inside of him when she smiled. It was a genuine expression, one he tried to put on her face often during their time before. Margo was beautiful no matter what emotion she expressed but he had favorites... her smile, mischievous, sleeping peacefully and even angry. She was gorgeous without any doubt. Why did he think she'd wait for him?

He saw how men gravitated toward her when they were out. Enough so that his knuckles had some use when her attention was elsewhere in Ibiza. If he had to fight them off, Margo only had more to contend with when he wasn't around. That didn't mean that Seth forgave her indiscretions with others. He just recognized it didn't all fall on her.

Trusting he wouldn't leave was a good sign she might forgive his abandoning her. Seth did as he said with the addition of tossing the used sheets down the trash chute in the hall rather than set them on fire. He noticed they weren't her favorite set that he'd replaced when he first healed. Those were what he dressed the bed with after disposing of the others and starting a small pot of coffee.

With the bathroom downstairs and no temptation of a fresh bed, Margo would find him having a cup of coffee on the couch. The large curved LED tv he purchased before leaving was on but his attention wasn't on it though his eyes were over the mug he brought to his lips. Seth had turned on the set to kill the silence, his mind on the present and near future.

Turning that water on hot, Margo stepped underneath and closed her eyes. It felt good to have it all wash over her. She immediately reached for a half-full bottle of body wash she knew Seth liked the scent of and squeezed a little into the center of a loofah, starting to scrub circles all over her skin. The lather worked into a foam all over her skin, filling the bathroom with a sweet smelling steam. Margo was sure to wash every inch of her to get rid of every single trace of the man that had been there before Seth.

Once her body was clean, Margo washed and conditioned her hair and washed her face. With her regimen finished, she turned off the water, opened the shower door, and reached for a fluffy towel. She padded her body dry and then wrapped her hair. After a moment’s thought, she dabbed a little of the perfume he’d bought her on each wrist. Quickly, she snatched her robe off the back of the bathroom door and slipped into it before walking out to Seth.

Taking in a deep breath through her nose, Margo smiled at the smell of freshly brewing coffee. She looked to Seth and stepped over to him. “Smells good.” In spite of a nagging voice in the back of her head telling her it might be too soon, she kissed him on the cheek and sat down in front of the tv with him.

She turned in her seat to face him, her arm on the back of the couch. “How are we doing?” Her hand rested on his leg. There seemed to be this need in her, something that wanted to touch him. It brought her a kind of calm, but only a little calm. There were still knots in her stomach and a constant worry that he was about to leave her for good.

"Yeah, you do." His words weren't said with a smile but they were genuine. No hint of sarcasm or bitterness in them considering the circumstances. Once upon a time, Margo wouldn't have moved past him very far before he'd pull her down or over to him. Seth picked up the remote instead and turned off the television.

He set the remote down on the arm of the furniture and switched hands to hold the cup of coffee so his free hand was closer to her. It wasn't to reach for her but Seth had a habit of talking with his hands depending on how animated he became in conversation. The move was an almost unconscious act, his eyes fixing on hers.

His gaze was a little tired, be it from the drive or their previous yelling match. Seth couldn't deny appreciating her token of affection regardless of the circumstances. He wasn't ready for more than the small contact yet. Not if they had a chance at more than one last romp.

"You really want this? Don't answer that just yet." He put a finger up, asking her to hold on and continued speaking. "You've gotta know what you're getting into before you can honestly answer that. Maybe you can explain your bank heist to me after. And whatever else you think I should know..."

Seth had changed from holding a finger up to a bit of gesturing before dropping his hand. He picked up the cup of coffee and swallowed some more of the liquid, eyes never leaving hers. She was beautiful. Younger than him but not fresh out of high school. She was going to some university, that much he knew. He wouldn't admit it but his stomach was also in a knot over the conversation at hand.

"We had a lot of fun before I left. Not sayin' I thought of it only as fun or I wouldn've spent on this place. But I wasn't thinkin' about more than what we had either..." His hand fell to where hers on his leg and held it as if giving it a look over for a second before picking up his gaze but never letting go of Margo.

"...I wanted to live two separate lives. Not you and some chick on the side, that's not me. I've got enough drama in my life without the added headache of angry dames. That's one of the biggest mistakes people make on this side of the law; It's too easy to get fucked over because a scorned lover has something against you."

He was talking from experience. Margo would hear about that next. His eyes would shift a little, uncomfortable from the topic but knowing it was necessary. "I need to be able to trust you and you gotta trust me. Can't be any secrets between us. Because if it's not you coming after me? It's someone targeting you to get to me. That's how this life works." Dark eyes watched her intently.

"So we either leave things how they are now and just have fun together, time permitting. Or get ready for a whole new way of life, Princess."

Margo nodded. Now more than ever, she was ready. It occurred to her that she might have more secrets to share than him and she was a little worried he’d be upset at her for keeping them this long, but she figured she was ready to share them. “No secrets. I can do that, but I can’t promise you won’t be a little freaked out.” Even as she gave the disclaimer, though, her voice was calm and even.

“Seth?” She let out a slow exhale of breath. Her hands made intricate movements and she held up one palm, a flame burning inside of it without harming her skin at all. “I’m a witch.” It was easier to give the proof first, she figured. Less of a yeah, right reaction. “The school I’m going to? Teaches magic.”

That had to be her biggest secret and it felt good to get that out of the way. After all, all of the secrets that followed were built upon magic existing. Seth would have to know about Margo being a witch to know that she’d used magic to rob a bank and that she was high queen of another world that ran on magic.

“There were two bank robberies, both made possible by magic. The first was because the crew needed a witch like me. I was young and I wanted money and a thrill. The second I planned and it was because an acquaintance needed gold to fund an exorcism.” That was a lot and still there was more. God, was there ever more. Margo still wasn’t sure how she was going to tell him she was royalty, that she’d given up her throne to be with him.

Okay…” Somehow this felt like it was harder on her than it was on him, though Margo knew it was probably otherwise in reality. Her mouth and throat felt dryer than a desert. She only hoped that his secrets were big enough so that he would be more willing to accept the whoppers she’d been dealing him in rapid succession.

Her tongue licked over her lips and she paused a moment. “There’s one more and I’m going to ask you to try and accept it as best you can.” She looked to him with a pleading expression on her face, pausing again to make sure her plea was heard. Margo took his hand and squeezed it.

“I’m… Sort of royalty. Sometime around Ibiza I left the throne to be here full time. You know the friend I used to go to Ibiza with before we made it our thing? He’s High King and I guess I’m still sort of High Queen.” She stopped talking to take in his expression, get some idea of what he was thinking in that moment.

At last, she let out a sigh. Finally, she was rid of all of her biggest secrets. It felt like a weight was off of her shoulders. Even though she had yet to see how Seth would take the news, she felt like she’d fixed something.

“I’m sorry I kept all of that from you.” Margo added in a quiet tone of voice, completely genuine in her message. She was especially sorry now that she knew how much better being honest felt.

His face transitioned to one of question when she thought he might be freaked out. Seth wondered if she'd heard a word he said. He hadn't even gotten to having been married or Richie being a--

And then Margo created fire out of thin air. All questions immediate silenced in his mind.

Witch? School for magic? Robbing banks in high school and then to fund an exorcism. Seth didn't know whether to be awed, dumbfounded, happy or put off. The thief in him immediately recognized her trade as a help to his. That would combine a mixture of being awed and happy. Being her lover and significant other made him wonder how soon before she got bored being with a mere mortal.

Yet her secrets didn't stop there. She was a fucking Queen. Seth watched with a stoic expression a second after the first sign of surprise on his features. He had a tendency to put on a poker face in certain situations where it seemed necessary not to give any part of himself away. He lifted his cup and finished off the coffee when she paused to observe him, unwilling to give anything away.

Only he probably did in that moment, Margo used to him talking almost nonstop in their previous months together. He set the cup down on a nearby table and slumped into the couch. The hand that had held hers slipped away somewhere between mention of Hogwarts and being her majesty.

"Here I thought you might think I was an asshole for not telling you that I've been married or that my brother's a bloodsucker."

That wasn't the way he intended to explain those two things but Margo had caught him off guard and he was trying to process. "You're not fuckin' with me, are you? Some David Blaine shit? Not Hogwarts?" he questioned with eyes squinted to match his confused tone.

"You're this guy's queen so you're married or...?" The question slipped out before she had to answer what he first asked. Seth wasn't sharing the relief Margo felt. He needed more proof for his sanity as much as his peace of mind. The idea that being honest would bring them closer together felt like it backfired. He found himself worlds apart with Margo but still looked to her for direction.

What?” She asked, catching that he’d been married and that Richie was some sort of blood-drinking being. Here Margo had thought that her secrets would completely outweigh Seth’s, but it seemed he had some biggies of his own. Margo shook her head, putting her hand to her forehead. Her answers could wait. For now she could focus on giving him his.

How could she prove that her magic wasn’t fake? Her jaw set in determination and she made more hand motions. In the blink of an eye his mug of coffee had disappeared from view. It was still there, of course, as was the smell of hot coffee, but the light was bent around it to make it look like it had up and gone – a trick she’d learned from Alice. She made the same hand motions in reverse and the mug had reappeared. “David Blaine doesn’t have shit on me. I’m the real thing.” Margo smirked at Seth.

“No, I’m not married to Eliot. He’s a friend, nothing more. He has a wife who bears no royal title. Our politics are a little different.” She smiled, but it looked more like a wince. How long before she had to explain Fillory to Seth? How long before she had to show Fillory to Seth? This was getting more complicated than she had bargained for, but she’d already decided that Seth was worth it.

“But… You’ve been married?” She tilted her head to the side, eyeing him a little bit like a confused puppy. “And Richie is a what?” Seth wasn’t the only one questioning his sanity. Margo had heard of centaurs and nymphs and dryads, but vampires? Fillory didn’t have those. Not that she knew of, at least. Oh, god, did Fillory have a vampire population?

Margo held out her hands as if she was balancing herself. “Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think you’re an asshole. I’m just… A little caught off guard.” She nodded, satisfied with the way her words had come out. At least she wasn’t shouting at him. She could have been shouting at him. A previous marriage seemed like something that should have come out sooner, after all, but then again so did some of her secrets.

She had caught onto what he said but was gracious enough to answer his questions. His shoulders had started to inch up to his ears with tension until Margo performed another trick. They didn't completely relax by the proof she demonstrated but lowered notably. Seth dropped them the rest of the way once he learned she wasn't married. And then the questions came to him.

Instincts urged to divert from the can of worms he opened. Seth was possibly older and wiser. He knew pulling back from Margo now would go back on what he'd just told her at the start of conversation. "Yeah. Married..." He sunk further into the couch with each arm strewn over the top of the furniture--one on the back facing toward her and the other on the arm of the sofa.

"Divorced when I got locked up. Never should've gotten married to begin with but I was twenty-one and thought I knew every goddamn thing. She grew up the way Richie and I did, in a crime family. Her family laundered money. Uncle Eddie and my old man ran jobs. I didn't have to worry about her having a problem with the way of life..."

His eyes watched Margo as he spoke. Seth might have looked calm yet felt anything but inside. He couldn't think of the last he'd had to explain his poor life choices. Probably to Eddie.

"...She said she loved me but she really loved the rep and money more. She never accepted Richie, fought tooth and nail to keep us apart. That was before what happened to him in Mexico." And there was having to explain Richie. Seth hadn't forgotten.

His eyes fell away as he continued. "Our escape to paradise ended up a hellish nightmare. We ended up in some temple instead of meeting up with the connection who was supposed to fence the bonds we'd stolen. Everything went sideways and to save Richie's life, he was turned into one of them snakeheads. Think vampire with a snake face."

Seth felt like he had the conversation without breathing in the end. His eyes had picked up to look at Margo when sharing about the stolen bonds. He didn't really have a way of proving what his brother was and a part of Seth felt like it wasn't his place to explain but Richie's. It was done now. He waited for her reaction.

The two secrets had hit Margo hard, but once Seth had explained them it was like she’d accepted them as facts and they’d become normal, ordinary information. Yes, he’d been married. Yes, his brother was some sort of snakelike vampire. Somehow she felt like there was no reason to flip out. Margo nodded slowly. “Okay…”

“I have to say, though, the way you talk about you and Richie? That was a dumb mistake your ex made.” Maybe it was harsh judgment on Margo’s part, but once she’d gotten to know Seth she couldn’t help but notice how important Richie was to him. It was no wonder than when he’d needed to figure things out he’d run off to his brother’s side.

She paused for a moment, blinking a few times and pondering if she really should ask the questions that were on her mind. She decided to go for it, at least with a couple of them. “How’s he handling the whole thing? The, um, transformation?” It was hard to imagine for Margo how she herself would take being turned from a human being into a vampire. If the movies had anything right, there were some glaring differences between the two states. Some parts of the ordeal had to be kind of rough.

While she wasn’t sure how Seth was digesting the secrets she’d released, she was fairly certain she could handle a premature marriage and a snake-vampire brother. It worried her, though, that maybe her secrets were a little bigger than his, that maybe he wouldn’t be able to handle hers. She was willing to change her life for him and she’d exposed secrets she wouldn’t tell just any guy, but that might not have been enough. Maybe nothing was enough. That was what worried her.

After some seconds had passed, she looked at him, some of that worry showing on her face. Margo turned to face him more completely. “What do you think? Can you be with a witch?”

A smile unexpectedly formed on his features, to his own surprise. It was small and hardly more than a smirk but a distinct change to the heaviness his face had been up to that point. Margo got it. He and Richie were a package deal. Vanessa should've known better, growing up in the same syndicate as the brothers. Now she was in prison and probably received the news that the two died.

Something about the confession was therapeutic. Or it was good to see Margo wasn't running for the hills with what he explained. Seth gave a bit of a shrug. "It kind of fits him." He put a hand up, motioning for her to wait. "He doesn't look like a snake twenty-four, seven. Just when he fangs out. It's not like the movies."

Seth held a finger up. "Except for the sunlight deal. That's a thing. And silver. And a stake to the heart," he informed her. "Not garlic though sometimes I wish it was when I have to sit in a long car ride with the son of a bitch." A warm smirk found his lips. His eyes also met Margo warmly.

The last thing he expected was her expression to change. His brow knit together with question until she posed one to him. Oh. The smirk came back softly on his mouth but more deviously. "I don't know. You're askin' a lot. I have a habit of pissin' people off and you might wanna turn me into a frog or some shit."

He moved the hand resting off the top of the couch and reached forward for Margo, suggesting to come closer. "A witch who's a queen where the king is her BFF?" Seth waited for her to rest against him given how he motioned and positioned himself (hand forward to ask hers then flipping upward and calling her to him and sitting back). She could either rest chest to chest or have her back against his chest.

She couldn’t help but chuckle at the comment about garlic and long car rides. Seth and Richie had to have a really special relationship for the vampire thing to be so normal for the two of them. It was kind of refreshing. It made Margo wonder if maybe there was a possibility her witch thing would ever be normal for her and Seth.

“I would never turn you into a frog, baby.” Margo grinned and rolled her eyes. “I seriously hope that’s not a fear in the back of your mind. That’s a threat I use against first year students at Brakebills, only in my threats it’s not a frog, it’s a pig and there’s usually an added threat to roast-“ She stopped herself midsentence. Seth didn’t need to know about how she and Eliot terrorized the younger students. “Nevermind.” Margo smiled and patted his arm.

Cuddling up against Seth’s chest, she smiled up at him. “High Queen. More power.” She corrected. To her it made all the difference in the world even if it was just one little word being added to the title. “If you ever wanna go, I could take you to the castle someday. It’s like stepping into a fantasy novel.” Margo nuzzled up close.

“Until then, though…” She sighed. “I’m perfectly happy going wherever this takes me.” Her hand found his hand, fingers linking in his. Margo was ready to throw caution to the wind and enter into this relationship completely, even if it was a little crazy. Hell, her life had been crazy way before Seth had become a part of it.

"Never, huh?" he questioned for affirmation. "I like the sound of that."

When she nestled against him, Seth inhaled her scent and swept strands of hair out of her face with his index finger of the hand opposite where she rested against him. Margo was beautiful. Flawless. His heart jumped at the sight and wondering if she used magic on her looks. It would explain a lot.

That went for his attraction to her as well. And the sex? He had to ask. "You ever use it on me and I didn't notice before?" Seth asked with the finger that had swept hair from her face now slipping over her lips with a gentle touch on her chin before lowering to a random area on his abdomen.

"What're your people gonna say? Their High Queen belonging to a criminal element?" Her hand found his and linked together on his chest. His tone and smirk might have been teasing but the question was earnest. Seth had to know how serious she was about being his. Kissing her would have to wait until some questions were answered.

Margo felt good against him and equally delicious between her scent and the sight of her. Kissing was high on the list of what he longed to do with her but he was careful not to let his lips get too close to her set. "You in this for fun or really wanna be my girl? I mean, I thought you already were but now there'r subjects and a kingdom to think about. Your friend. My brother..."

He couldn't hold back any longer. His face had inched closer while talking and Seth crashed his mouth against hers before she had a chance to ask his last set of questions. Seth squeezed their joined hands a little at her taste. He unconsciously moaned while savoring her taste. Knowing their history, the contact could escalate but he kept his hand in her grasp and pulled back his neck to break the kiss.

"...I'd wanna do things like maybe fuck on your throne," he breathed barely an inch from her lips, his eyes barely open after relishing her taste.

“I did, in fact, magic the hell out of you.” She smirked, giving him a moment to think about it before offering him a comforting explanation. “It was only healing magic back when you were hurt. That was it. I’m fundamentally against fucking with the heads of people who matter and you definitely matter to me.” And she may have used magic once or twice to remove the frizz from her hair, but there was no way she was owning up to that. As far as anyone else knew, her good looks were au natural.

Her eyebrows raised when he asked about ‘her people’ and their opinion. “I don’t give a shit if they care. They didn’t care when I used stolen gold bars to fund a war, so if they care that I’ve started living a criminal lifestyle then they’re grade A hypocrites and can kiss my ass.” She said it all with a certain finality, like it was all over and done once she was finished saying it. There was a small smile on her face. “Besides, all the great queens caused a little scandal now and then.”

Margo put her hands on his shoulders and looked him very seriously in his face. “Seth, this is not some fun fling for cheap thrills. I do want to be with you.” She leaned in to kiss him lightly on the lips and pulled away a couple seconds later. “If there’s one thing that’s true about me, it’s that I know what I want, and I want to be your girl.”

She let him kiss her, laughing through the kiss at first just because of the sheer abruptness of the act. As he pulled away she just smiled at him. It was absolutely miraculous to her that they had pulled their relationship out of the dumpster simply by sharing their biggest secrets with one another.

“Baby, we can christen the whole castle if you want.” Somehow, she fought the temptation of kissing him even as he sat so close to her. She smiled wickedly at him, hoping he’d move in for another kiss.

He held a wary expression when Margo confessed but hadn't yet told him just how she'd used magic on him. However, he did give her a chance to answer. Seth held a smitten smile as she continued on. He was tempted to ask if he'd have any lasting effects from whatever she did but let the subject go for the time being.

Seth had broached the subject about being accepted by her friends and family to which she responded favorably in his opinion. It meant she gave the idea thought prior. Margo spoke with conviction and he cherished her dedication. "Something tells me they already know what a handful their High Queen can be."

Margo turned serious and for a second, he watched to be sure she wasn't pulling his leg. "That's something we've got in common. I make no secret of what I want." Seth had told her as much already and only questioned her standing because of the responsibilities she confessed. Her wants still matched his. He could see it in her eyes and kissed her heartily.

She pulled back and met his heated gaze with what looked like a genuinely happy smile. Seth didn't see those too often, particularly ones directed at him. His eyes returned the sentiment while his mouth held a hungrier quality to it. Margo didn't have to wait long before he reached to capture her lips again.

"You've got me under your spell," Seth teased at her mouth. His outside hand covered her cheek as he left no space for speech or more than a moan with his tongue caressing hers. The kiss continued as his hand fell over her body, running over the thin material of the robe she wore. He left her mouth for a path to her neck nearest the furniture they rested on, leaving Margo the open side.

“I am nothing but up front.” She raised her eyebrows, smiling faintly. “They knew I was a handful from the moment I took the throne.” Even her advisors looked forward to those times when she would skip away back to Earth for time off. Why wouldn’t they? She was pretty brutal and demanding with them.

Margo couldn’t get enough of his kisses. When he kissed her she kissed back with a hunger. She only pulled back to laugh a little at his quip, but there was little time for laughter as soon his lips were pressed to hers once more. Nipping at his lower lip gently, Margo then broke off the kiss, trying to hold Seth in a sultry stare.

“I missed you so much.” It was a slip of vulnerability and completely honest. Margo wasn’t always comfortable letting her guard down, but she felt she could around Seth, or at least she could right now. She put her hand to his chest and tapped her fingers over his heart lightly. “I’m glad I’m with you.”

She ran a hand through her hair only to get it stuck in wet tangles, prompting a chuckle. “I’m still wet…” Margo scrunched her damp hair, pushing it away from her face. The shower hadn’t been the same without Seth, but it wouldn’t have been possible at the time. Maybe sometime later. She made a mental note to remind herself.

“When do you have to head back?” She paused briefly, but didn’t give him enough time to answer. Instead, she asked yet another question. “Am I coming with you?”

How many nights he'd been able to finish to memories of her sultry stare... and some of her other sexy assets. More than that, Seth cherished how she didn't hide wanting him. Sometimes, even needing him. She might have been more open but he had to be a much easier read when it came to vulnerabilities.

If he wasn't, Seth internally promised to do better. Margo deserved that much. "I missed you too. You don't ever have to worry about it being like that again." His arms fell around her securely, happy to stay in the moment. Sex would happen eventually. He wanted and needed it but needed the openness more.

However, a mischievous smirk immediately formed on his features when she made her admission after running a hand through her hair. "Sounds like someone didn't handle his business," he quipped dastardly. One might think it was too soon for that kind of joke but it was as good a sign as any that Seth was putting her indiscretion behind him. Even though it still gave him a bitter taste.

Margo asked him a question back to back. His hand opposite from his side against the furniture swept strands of hair over her shoulders without his gaze leaving hers. "Yeah, you're coming with. I don't know if Richie'll be on board right away but he'll get over it. You just be you," Seth uttered with affection.

Maybe it was too soon, but any sting Margo might have felt from the joke was dulled away by laughter. She gave him a playful shove and then just smirked at him. “What can I say? Nobody does it for me like you.” If he could do it, then so could she. The two of them could be past the angst and the pain. They didn’t have to argue about it anymore. This was a good sign, or at least she hoped that it was.

Margo leaned in to kiss him softly. “We’ll make this work.” It was a promise. She was going to work as hard as she could manage not just to make their relationship work, but to make the dynamic between herself and his brother work. Richie was important to Seth. There was no doubt in her mind about that.

“You never know,” She smirked. “It might help to have someone like me with you guys.” The statement was vague, but she was fairly sure he knew she was referring to her aptitude for magic. Having a witch on your side was a pretty useful good luck charm even in the modern world, and Margo was willing to use her magic to pitch in on whatever task Seth and his brother were working on.

She snuggled up close to him. Even though she knew she was a part of the picture from there on out, Margo didn’t want to leave the apartment. This moment seemed too perfect to interrupt.

One day he'd genuinely let her know that she always knew just what to say. Her betrayal might have still held a sting but Seth couldn't have asked for a better response to his reach for a joke. She managed to empower him. If Margo kept her word, he'd leave her indiscretion in the past where it belonged.

She was a smart woman and Seth had faith that she'd be able to play along around Richie. If there was one thing between brothers, neither would deal nicely with anyone who hurt the other. It would work in Margo's favor that Seth hadn't told Richie the reason he'd been so distracted. Showing up with her could only put her in a good light with the younger Gecko.

"I stink," he randomly uttered as she snuggled up to him but didn't make any move to slip away or distance himself. "You got a spell to clean me up?" His question held a teasing tone but there was something true in it; Seth was curious on how her magic worked and what Margo could do.

“Hmmm… Not quite.” She pulled away slightly to free her hands and made an elaborate gesture with both of them. When she finished there was a plume of sweet smelling, purple smoke. Margo wrinkled her nose. “Well, that made the air smell good. Not quite what I was going for, but close…”

Margo laughed and smiled at Seth, shaking her head. “I’m sure there’s a spell out there that can clean you up, but I never learned it. You’re going to have to settle for soap and water.” She leaned in to catch his mouth in a kiss. “But I’m perfectly willing to hop in the shower with you and help you wash up if you should so desire.”

“And, for the record,” She nuzzled up close to him again. “You don’t stink bad enough to keep me from wanting your sexy ass.” Her hand brushed his cheek as she leaned in close to him, her nose touching his nose and her brown eyes looking deep into his. A smile spread across her face. This was it. Margo was happy again.

A chuckle left him at her magic trick gone wrong. He liked watching this unknown side of Margo. Would she feel the same when he broke someone's nose or were on the run from the Law? Seth tried not to think about reasons she'd leave him when they had only just begun.

"Nah, I'll wash up. You dry your hair. --Don't want you gettin' in bed with a wet head. You'll hate me in the mornin'," he quipped but had yet to move. Seth kept his dark eyes fixed on hers. His smile wasn't as wide on his lips but it showed on his gaze that he shared her sentiment.

His head leaned in and chin stretched forward, leaving a kiss on her forehead before lowering to meet her lips. It was soft. Almost new. Like the territory they were heading into together.

It was almost strange going from shouting to this in such a short period of time with Seth, but it wasn’t unpleasant and Margo wasn’t about to complain. She lay there smiling, enjoying the closeness. Margo wasn’t thinking about the uncertainty of the future or how she might not get along with Richie or the multitude of other worries that were nibbling away at the back of her mind.

Hate you?” She frowned exaggeratedly. “Never!” Her lips then curled into a big smile. It spoke for how close they were that he would put her comfort before a shower together and, of course, she appreciated that. Margo would have to make a point of showing her appreciation later on.

“I’ve noticed that neither of us are making a move to get off of this couch.” She smirked, leaning in to give him another soft little kiss on the lips. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.”

"Careful now..." Her reaction made him smile wider where Seth felt the need to tame his grin before showing just how smitten he was. "...I'll hold you to it." As much as he longed to be wanted and needed, the eldest Gecko didn't know what it felt like not to be hated. He was teasing now but deep down he knew the truth; Margo would feel exactly the opposite of what she just said.

Happiness wasn't something the Gecko brothers knew for long. After a miserable existence with their father, they were able to grow up under the healthier guidance of Eddie. Then Seth found Vanessa and forsook almost everything Uncle Eddie had instilled him him and Richie. Five years upstate until his brother got him out.

His ex-wife might have cased a place and insisted she loved him but Vanessa had also insisted on a divorce when staying married guaranteed her immunity. She never had any real interest in his happiness, only if it coincided with hers. Seth couldn't abandon his brother like she wanted. Even if the bastard eventually betrayed him. That was Richie's shitty mistake, Seth hadn't changed.

Family meant something. He'd give it to a woman who understood that about him. Seth wanted the whole works down the line. It was enough for now that Margo wanted to be around and understood Richie's place in his life. He kissed her back the way she'd just kissed him. "Other than I stink but you don't think it's that bad. Maybe it isn't." His hand tugged her head back to kiss her a little deeper.
