Calming Presence

You're about to go off the rails. No, no "about," actually. You've left that train track fair behind, and you're crazy. Rage fills every inch of you, and there's no doubt you're about to do something dangerous, stupid, or reckless. Or all three. There's only one person who can calm you down: your partner. Now, they're using closeness, reassurance, or physical intimacy to remind you what really matters, which is the two of you. Surely, this will bring you back, letting the anger ebb out and you'll be able to think straight again, even if your lover was the actual cause of all this mess. Won't it? Surely you won't direct your wrath towards them, no matter what. So these two just have to meet

James paces the room from one end to the other. He does not shout and rave like some men might, his rage is cold and all encompassing like a stormy sea. All the emotion is turned inward. It is much easier to blame himself for any and all failings that befall the fort and it's men.

Solving problems is what he does. Sometimes it is easy to find a resolution, and there are some times when he can not see a clear path. Unfortunately that is the case now, he can see no way to escape this social obligation.

Alas, his captain and his luitenants are otherwise engaged, quite literally in one cae, which leaves him here in the Governor's mansion alone and trying to nake the vest of things.

The party is several rooms away and he shouldn't be disturbed while he tries to find a polite reason to leave, but all his ideas come up short.
