Something something officially
![]() Dating...isn't what you'd consider the two of you doing. You're just close. Close enough to spend time together, do things you both enjoy, eat together, talk about problems, cuddle, and kiss, possibly. And you don't do most of these things with other people. Okay. Okay, so maybe you are dating. But do you need to disclose this fact to everyone else, or at least acknowledge it amongst yourselves - If you even realize it, that is. It's possible this whole "a couple" status has snuck up on you. Theoretically, at least. ...how did that happen?

Kate Fuller | From Dusk Til Dawn
Post season 3
There was a lot to sort out after Matanzas. No longer just the brothers but Kate made three. Seth had given her his room with promise of setting one up for her that had yet to begin in the three weeks since sending Amaru back to hell. He slept at a respectable distance on one side of the bed, needing the reassurance of her being there possibly more than she needed him at her side.
He was in the kitchen now, finishing up on dinner. Seth had made one of his specialties: spaghetti with meat sauce. The pasta was out of a box but he did more than add browned ground beef to a jar of spaghetti sauce. He seasoned the beef and gave it a light cook before adding it to the pot of sauce then caramelized half an onion that he diced in the leftover grease before mixing it in.
There was some texas toast in the toaster oven and the salad was left for Kate to make. Seth had drained the noodles and tossed them with some butter and fresh parsley then served some on each of their plates. He put a heaping spoon of sauce over the pasta and grated some parmesan over top, the finishing touches before setting them at the table.
"Wine or tea?" he asked Kate while walking over to the fridge. "Beer might not go well with it. And we'll be burping it up with the garlic and onions later."

Her head turned towards Seth as he mixed the beef and onions in a pan. A light smile played across her pink glossed lips as she refocused her attention back on the task in front of her. She was happy. She had everything in the bowl with two spoons that could be used to serve the lettuce onto their plates. When she saw Seth set the plates on the table she went for the silverware, placing them next to his place settings.
"Wine." She spoke decisively though there was a warmth to her voice when she spoke to Seth. "As delicious as this will be. I only want to taste it going down."
Kate walked over to grab two wine glasses, she didn't know if they were red or white wine glasses and she didn't care. They'd hold the liquid which was all they really needed to do.
She enjoyed eating with Seth. Since it was only the two of them that ate they always took their meals together and without Scott and Richie's chattering. It was quieter and reminded Kate a little bit of their time in Mexico.
"Do we need anything else?" The table looked set, food was done and they had something to drink.

He looked around at her question, having finished pouring her glass then moved onto his. "Maybe some napkins," he answered with a light shrug that indicated more a 'no' than 'yes' to her question. Seth set the bottle down and eyed Kate before taking a seat. A part of him thought about lighting candles but immediately reconsidered, unsure how the preacher's daughter would take his decision.
Seth waited for Kate to start eating before he followed suit. It wasn't anything he ever did before, regardless of how much Eddie had given him hell for it when he'd been alive. His uncle would be proud of him. He'd finally met a girl worth all the stops the man who stepped in to raise him had taught him.

Her gaze lingered on Seth for a few seconds longer than necessary before she looked over at her wine and food. "Thank you." Kate loved both Gecko's with all her heart though it was a little bit different with Seth. It wasn't the sort of thing she could put her finger on and given how Seth was she never tried too. They were connected and then always would be.
She took a bite and then paused to take a sip of the wine. She probably wouldn't even like wine if not for Richie's influence. "It's good. Do you like the wine?" Since she had been the one to decide on that part of the meal.

He wasn't sure if her question was just conversational or if she didn't like the combination. It was strangely important for Kate to like dinner. In fact, he received a lot of razzing over how much attention she received from him as of late. Seth wasn't bothered by it unless she was in earshot, not wanting the preacher's daughter to feel uncomfortable by it.
Yet as much grief as everyone liked to tease him with, Seth wasn't alone in his sometimes overbearing care for Kate. Even the Peacekeeper and Kisa regularly checked in. She was the glue still holding everyone together. Everyone who was left. However, she was more than that to the elder Gecko. That was what most picked up on. The two had something of an unspoken relationship.
Something neither could or wouldn't name.

At his question she shook her head. "It's perfect." She was referring to everything; the drink, the meal, Seth. Everything was perfect as if the world fitted perfectly into place. Kate believed that Seth and Richie were supposed to find them that day at the hotel. That something tangled their futures together and while it's been hard and her life has changed, she didn't regret it.
Kate considered herself lucky to have so many people in her life who cared about her. Her father was gone but he was with her mother and she had a family here that she wanted to take care of. Kate loved every single one of them: Freddie, Kisa, Richie, Scott and Seth. Though she was beginning to realize that she cared for Seth in a slightly different way than she had before. It was hard to put her finger on but she always looked forward to their time alone together.
"Do we have to do anything after we eat?" If not she might suggest they watch a movie or something a little more juvenile in nature.

The preacher's daughter gave him too much credit. She was the connection between him and Richie, the Peacekeeper, her brother and even Kisa. Maybe Seth had wrangled others into their quest to save her but ultimately it'd been Kate who made sure sacrifices hadn't been in vain. Her father had to be proud of his kids. Seth wondered how true Kisa's words had been about destiny.
Everyone around them seemed to know what he and Kate didn't give a name to. Seth spent nearly all his time with her, no interest in going to bars or strip clubs much like how he'd been since hearing she had died from Richie. His brother had a bar and himself a small harem before Amaru entered their lives. The preacher's daughter seemed to bring a balance between the brothers.
Yet the eldest didn't deny enjoying his time alone with her. "Nothin's on the schedule. You've got somethin' in mind?" Seth asked, clearing his mouth by shoving food into a cheek. He continued eating with eyes on Kate for details.

After so much excitement Kate enjoyed simple nights in. She didn't think she could get the guys to start a game of scrabble or anything but a movie seemed innocent and they could pick something that could eve demand Seth's interest. Kate generally steered away from anything syfy or fantasy though. Maybe rent one of the Ocean's movies. Her father never did like her or her brother watching those.
Despite everything that has happened Kate didn't see herself as the glue that bound people together. There was more to everyone's relationships than they were willing to see. Something that connected them together. She saw everyone's place; except her own.
Kate wasn't the bolstering type. She would always try her best to help those she loved but she didn't know what good her actions did. She'd gotten herself killed and possessed. Thinking back on it sent an uncomfortable itch up her spine and she promptly pushed those thoughts away. Focusing instead on Seth, dinner and his answer.

[But, in the midst of all this newness, an old friend is still the most important thing. So Penny is currently waiting outside Team RWBY's door, bouncing on her toes as she gives a short, quick knock at the door.]
Ruby?
[...it might be sort of early. Not actually having to sleep will do that.]

[ immediately, Ruby's mind slams into high gear in something of isolated panic, and then the brakes of "no everything is fine, things are fine" kick in and she mentally lurches forward from the whiplash. ] W-Uh, good... morning?

[Sorry Ruby, pep train can't stop won't stop.]
[Though she does notice the general... miasma of early morning, at least after a second.]
Were you not up already...?

Weiss and Blake are already hitting the library, and Yang's still resting from yesterday's training. [ hence the sound of a figurative chainsaw rumbling in the background. ] So... good morning to you, too!

[Crisis averted, question mark?]
I was thinking that since this is the first day of the term, and after this we'll both be really busy with our teams, we should get breakfast together! ...Or I guess you could get breakfast, but I would be there.

Do you actually need anything, too? A battery, or something?
