I figure we can somehow convert him into the Yu Yu Hakusho universe. Maybe have him in a situation similar to Yusuke where his death was unexpected enough that he's given another shot. Maybe because he was killed by cultists or because he got killed by trying to put a stop to them, something not expected of just your average young man. I'm open to suggestions though it's just the only idea I can come up with.
As for situations I was thinking Botan maybe pushing him to go somewhere with her for a date if this is after their relationship started. Maybe a carnival or festival or something.
If you'd rather do something about how the relationship started the scenario I imagine is Chikage pushing himself to the brink to keep Botan safe from some sort of threat. In the aftermath his feelings for her are kind of obvious since he was willing to risk his second chance to keep her safe.)

Did you want to roll?
Two days after their meeting in the sullied garden, Loki discovered his answer. The foreign energy signals that lapsed against Loki's arcane senses was what eventually brought Loki to the strange glowing life that had planted its roots in Asgard soil. It was in a glorious spot, just on the overlook across from one of their floating waterfalls, a hidden alcove that held a breathtaking view that may surpass even the view of the palace's high towers. There it radiated energy while feeding on the very life of Asgard's terra.
Loki tried to remove it at first, he couldn't, nor could he destroy the small glowing plant. It carried the same signature as Quill's new power and Loki knew the Celestial will have to be the one to remove it.
For now, he contained it, putting up a shielding magic that entrapped it within its arcane bubble. It isolated it from the source of Asgard's life, and while it wasn't a solution, it was a temporary hold. He still had to find the source of this problem.
no subject
The sex had been...surprisingly good, even for a Celestial who knows he's capable of bigger and better if he wanted it. What he did do was find a nice spot to seed Asgard, seeking higher ground that gave him a look of a waterfall that turned into molten gold when the afternoon light hit it. Maybe for one brief second he appreciated its beauty.
Easily long enough to commit it to memory and move on.
Peter doesn't bother hiding his tracks much and it's because of that it's easy for Loki to scry for his location: just follow a few reclaimed planets, glowing a pulsing, eerie shade of blue and it's almost like a straight relentless line as Peter works his way through the nearest system with a single-minded focus he hadn't had as your average run-of-the-mill human. He's standing on an asteroid circling his latest target when Loki finds him, his back turned, one hand raised as he prepares to carry out yet another Expansion. The asteroid's light gravity and barely there atmosphere teases his hair so that it drifts slightly, his skin starting to gradually frost over.
When Loki arrives, he'll see what Asgard's in for once Peter gets around to it. If the Celestial's aware that he has another visitor watching, he doesn't seem to care, doesn't bother to turn and get defensive or stop what he's doing like he's guilty or got something to hide.
no subject
The air was sparse on the asteroid that breathing would prove difficult if not supplemented by Loki's biology. The chill the lack of atmosphere would have bothered even an Asgardian, but like Quill, Loki stood undisturbed by the layering frost.
It was breathtaking what the Celestial was doing to the planet before them. There was no doubt where that spread of blue came from, it bore the same energy signature as the Celestial, as the flower that took root in Asgard. If Loki hadn't kept it contained, there was no telling if Asgard would be swallowed like that already. Loki didn't particularly care about the other places, but he would prefer Asgard to be exempted. At least until he was ready to give it up.
"Your handiwork?" Loki asked, not yet showing any misgivings towards what Quill was doing. If Quill didn't know he was there already, he would know now.
He took two steps forward to close their distance, stepping up beside the Celestial like they were equal companions. He didn't demonstrate any grudge for their last meeting, for now he acted like he didn't mind it at all. "This is your intent? Your purpose is to demolish life in all the realms?"
no subject
He might not be the homesick, sentimental type, but he figures it's poetic or something to die on the place you must've loved - if it had been him, with no choice because he was another mortal, Peter guesses that he would've probably wanted to die on Earth if he couldn't at least do it on his old ship.
Peter's hand lowers, the subsurface glow that had turned it white hot and backlit the bones of his hand fading until he looks like he did back on Asgard, when he took Loki and enjoyed what mortal distraction he could offer. The Expansion in front of them continues to envelope the unlucky world he chose today, electric blue pulsing in a thick film taking out power grids city by city.
"Why are you here? You know you can't talk me out of it." It does occur to Peter that he could always fuck any argument out of Loki, if he grows tired of his talking and questions, and maybe he might do it anyway if the mortal dares show his face again while he's busy working.
no subject
"It is not my home world," Loki corrected although he chose not to elaborate upon the complicated scenario of his upbringing and his intense hate relationship with the place that he came from. He overlooked the way the planet swallowed, was completely consumed by the spread of blue that, although he couldn't see in detail from how far he was out on the asteroid, was still enough to give him an inkling of the world below.
"But I am here to request a boon from your great generosity nonetheless," Loki said, layering it on thick. "Merely to delay it, that is all. Until I tire of Asgard."
That may buy Loki time to figure out what to do with the strange flower. Or perhaps he really will tire of the everlasting realm and let Quill bring about its Ragnarok just as he was requesting. For now, he was yet undecided on whether he wanted to be attached to that place but didn't like the idea of having it decided for him before he was ready.
"That should be of no great difficulty, I imagine you have plenty of other targets that may occupy your time in the meanwhile. Remaking your conquered worlds for example." Loki nodded at the planet below that was nearly completely overtaken.
no subject
The immortal's glassy eyes drag away from Loki as if he's barely holding his attention, instead choosing to stare at the doomed planet below. The blue light's enveloped most of it, casting their faces in its flickering glow.
"That buys you a little time to say goodbyes, get everything squared away. Fine," Peter says and he actually remembers how to shrug, the gesture making him almost look human again. "Did you want something else?"
He doesn't glance over, although he can see Loki just fine in his peripheral. The barely-there gravity continues to swirl Loki's hair into floating black tendrils around his face, twisting and curling in on themselves as if they have minds of their own. He's attractive, yes. Won't argue that. And Peter has history - lots of history - with the alien. Maybe it means something that he tracked him down to ask such a small, useless favor.
no subject
What would the Celestial expect him to say? Loki came here to find a way to stop the expansion, but what he wanted did not matter when a lie would provide a more favorable response. The Celestial, as their previous meeting had shown, possessed powers beyond what Loki expected. A full fledged confrontation would be a disaster, whatever would give him the advantage now.
"I was looking for you." Loki stepped closer, but stopped before intruding into Quill's personal space. It was hard to tell what exactly that would be, for all he knew, with the Celestial's current behavior, the whole universe could be intruding on it.
"Explain to me about your great expansion. It is a magnificent endeavor." People liked talking about things, Loki found. Give them a prompt and they would happily ramble on. Hopefully Quill would reveal something useful during that. "Let me join you."
no subject
The look he gives Loki is timeless, almost bored. Magnificent, maybe. Once you've seen the first dozen planets fall into that same blue light, the novelty wears off quick. The only difference is how much easier it is to use his abilities, to get used to surviving vacuum and resisting the old, futile urge to gulp for air where there is none.
"You know all there is to know about it. It's as simple as it sounds," Peter shrugs. His glassy stare rakes across Loki's body, fit and lean under the armor, sure, but he's still a mortal even with that Asgardian lifespan. "For what? Pleasuring me? What more could you possibly offer?"
He doubts Loki can contribute in a meaningful way to the Expansion, seeing as he isn't a Celestial. Peter's chin lifts with that unconsciously arrogant tilt as he turns his back on the dying planet below them and faces Loki.
no subject
Loki did not appear in any way to take offense to the implicated insult, if that was even what it was meant to be. Such subtlety seemed to be beyond the Celestial version of Quill and he seemed a straight forward, dulled version of the human Loki used to know. In terms of personality, this new one was decidedly lacking.
"I was interested in what came after. You destroy the planet, a simple enough feat for your powers, but I have yet to see new life flourish on the annihilated worlds. Or will you leave them barren and desolate? Hardly a beautiful remaking in if left with a lifeless universe..."
Since the steps forward hadn't offended the Celestial, Loki dared two more steps into his personal space, a companionable distance. He looked out at the doomed world and sighed softly. There was barely any atmosphere and Loki had to summon up air about him for proper speech. That air passed to where Quill was now and the Celestial would find there was suddenly air around him.
"I can be your guide," Loki suggested. "I have no doubt in your great magnificence you will eventually cover distances to all corners of the world, but I know shortcuts, paths, secret ways into other realms that your spaceships will not be able to travel. What harm is there in taking me along?"
feel free to stop him - I think we talked about working toward snapping Peter out of it?
He can't resist pointing that out, as if he's drawing around Loki's inevitable mortality with a marker to highlight it, as if the Asgardian is a child instead of an alien literally thousands of years older than he is. Peter doesn't tense up as Loki steps closer and there's air and the lungs he technically doesn't need to use anymore instinctively still take a breath.
"Maybe it would make it faster." He'll concede that point, as it's true and for all his travels as a mortal, he hadn't been everywhere. Not like Loki had. "But what would stop me from just pulling that information from you?"
And, as if to put thought into action, Peter calmly faces Loki and he's starting to reach for his face as if he plans to take the alien like he did back on Asgard, milk him of everything - even the knowledge hidden inside that pretty face. If Peter gets to that...
Well. There might be no reason for him to keep Loki around.
Did we want him to snap it now? If this doesn't, don't know what will.
Loki had miscalculated. He wanted to find out more about the Celestial, get close to him, offer him secrets in exchange for time, but he hadn't accounted for the creature having the ability to just steal that information from him. Already Quill had proven merciless, quite incapable of mercy, and who knew what else would he steal if he got Loki's knowledge.
He took a step back as Quill advanced, not knowing what Quill's touch would do but not eager to find out. He tucked just out of Quill's initial reach, the disturbed air of the passing hand brushing past his face like an indirect caress. Before Quill could make another pass, Loki took another retreating step.
And when Quill followed, Loki drew upon the only innate power he could without any preparation. Even magic required a gathering of energies, but this was more like instinct. He lashed out with a blast of Jotun ice, not in tiny patches of it like with the controlled uses he made in the past, but with every power of his royal lineage unleashed in a wave. It wasn't as powerful as holding the Casket, but it would have been enough to freeze over an entire being, or a group of them.
As it was, it was a force enough to turn Loki entirely blue with the attempt.
yup, I'll do that now
He probably should've.
There might be a whole grab bag of a Celestial's abilities that he's somehow acquired since they last ran into each other, but in the end he's still a fledgling immortal - less experienced, weaker than his Dad. What would be a laughable love-trap to Ego hits Peter harder. A blast of ice that's more of an avalanche than anything else, larger than anything Loki showed him in the past, slams into him and locks him in place.
It doesn't kill him. And he doesn't stay frozen long. Not with a Celestial's core temperature.
As the ice block hisses away and begins to melt, Peter doesn't just burst through or even keep walking at Loki to take what knowledge he had locked away. Instead he collapses to his knees with a grunt, wheezing, his eyelashes squeezed shut and frosted white. When he glances up, his eyes look human again, the glow fading as the roots of Ego's corruption in his mind begins to fade away.
Re: yup, I'll do that now
Loki had exerted too much energy in that blast. Even after the ice broke away Loki was still blue, not completely anymore, but his eyes were still blood red and his limbs were only starting to change back. He stared at the Celestial who had broken free of what would have killed gods and armies, red eyes wary about a counter strike. If there was, Loki was in no shape to fight back.
But thankfully it didn't seem like Quill was going to be attacking very soon. "Peter Quill?" Loki stayed where he was, trying to figure the situation of the Celestial. Something seemed off about him from before, like that omnipresent aura was no longer there. His eyes were different too, they weren't glazed with the universe mirrored in them like before.
More of Loki's skin returned to the normal color of his enchantment, slowly returning him to Asgardian tones with slight hints of blue. Only his eyes remained demonic red.
no subject
"Yeah...yeah," Peter slowly pushes himself to his feet, reaching up to rub at his eyes. His hand drops and he wasn't imagining it: Loki's skin has a few spots of blue undertones, his eyes as red as the blood he's seen him shed in the past. It's a shock of angry color against his pale skin. "It's me."
And when he looks at Loki, it'll be all over his face, the emotions - fear, regret, anger, and so much more - filtering across in a way they just hadn't only a few minutes ago.
no subject
Loki's eyes narrowed, but finally even the red have given way to his lush cunning greens. The god looked like he was just slightly better off than Quill, whatever he had done to snap Quill's consciousness back, it had taken a huge toll on him as well. But he definitely looked better off than the ex-human.
If the behavior hadn't convinced Loki, Quill's sudden influx of emotions on the previously golem-like features was convincing enough. It brought Loki to think whether the man had returned to mortal as well. If he did, Loki had a lot of getting even to do.
Yet until he could be certain, and find an opportunity to blast Quill in the back, Loki decided to withhold his attacks. "What befell you?"
no subject
"Ego did," Peter pauses to recall the last words he heard before the Celestial had reached for him. "My dad. Said he'd found meaning for once and he touched me. Showed me."
After that...well. He remembers everything. He remembers talking with Ego, the way the other Guardians tried and failed to stop him; he remembers his pit stop at Asgard and how he finally fucked Loki into silence, how he'd enjoyed it for a few minutes before he'd gotten...bored. That's all still there. Can't even claim amnesia on any of that.
no subject
Loki would really prefer if Quill had forgotten that sort of embarrassment that he was forced to endure not too long ago, although given their history, the number of times Quill had been brought to exhausted silence far outnumbered the one time of Loki's experience. With that in mind, dealing with the ex-human, ex-celestial was made easier.
"Your father... Metamorphed you like so?" That was almost hard to believe. It did confirm what Loki seemed to sense before though, that Quill wasn't wholly human to begin with. "And am I to be led to believe that the universal annihilation is also his great scheme?"
Not that Loki wanted to save Asgard, but he wondered if Quill was even capable of undoing his damage now that he was mostly mortal again. Or, in possession of mere mortal intelligence. "Can you reverse what you have done?"
no subject
Somehow he even feels guilty for what he did to Loki. It had felt amazing, an experience that he'd felt with his own body and with the Celestial tentacles doing what no human could manage, almost an out of body but not experience, and he'll probably carry that to his grave. Assuming he even has one. Peter has no idea if he can get killed at this point. For all he knows, he might outlive Loki from just natural causes. It's kind of a scary thought to seriously consider, seeing as how he'd always thought of the Asgardian as some god because of his insanely long lifespan.
Peter turns to glance down at what used to be a planet with populated cities, with history and pop culture and space ports and the list could go on, but it wouldn't make a bit of difference because none of that's there anymore. All that's left is a pulsing blue ball, drifting in the cosmos, and it would've been pretty if he didn't know better. His jaw tenses as he swallows and forces himself to look.
"Maybe, but I don't know how." Ego, in all his immortal wisdom, hadn't thought it was a lesson worth teaching; probably because it hadn't ever occurred to him to need an undo button somewhere.
no subject
Loki didn't feel as guilty about the global genocide of a planet he knew little to nothing about, was not aware of it's insignificant existence until he had showed up to watch its demise. For one, he wasn't the one who caused it to be swallowed by blue Celestial goo. They were gone, he dismissed them from his mind and sight and turned back to Quill.
"You may start by destroying the seeds you have planted. I suggest beginning with Asgard." And before it could be mistaken that the comment was made with sentimental and selfish reasons, which Loki would absolutely deny having any sentimental value to that place of deceit anymore, he stated the more logical point behind his reasoning. "It is likely the least advanced of those you have planted. You may have rooted it days ago, it has been suspended in stasis through my power all this time."
As much as Loki hated to admit it, he could only suspend it but not actually destroy it. He was hoping its creator will have a better chance at that, which in extension required an alliance. "If you would, you have my invitation to return with me."
no subject
"What about the others? Can you suspend the others I already seeded?" Peter didn't say no. Guilt's apparently a powerful motivator when you aren't high on an immortal's detached view of existence. "I don't know how long it would take for me to destroy a seed."
Ego, in all his wisdom, hadn't seen any reason to teach him how to use his Celestial mojo for that.
Peter watches Loki, frowning, trying to figure out if he would actually help or if he even cares about Asgard. If this isn't one of his tricks that he used to think would last longer than he did. Only a few minutes ago he had the luxury of not giving a single shit what he did or said. Now it suddenly matters. It matters more than he wants to ever let on.
no subject
Loki studied Quill, noting the once human wasn't struggling with the sparse atmosphere that would have otherwise suffocated the human already. There was still power in Quill, but perhaps this Quill was no longer the same threat the Celestial version was. Loki closed the few of the steps between them.
Perhaps the god was not smiling, but he did not outright deny Quill's request either. Loki honestly didn't care about other planets or worlds he has never seen or heard of, but in order to get Quill to cooperate, he had no choice but to pretend he did. "Of course, as many as we visit. I need to be there in person, and there is also how long they have rooted. I discovered the one in Asgard early, I cannot say the other planets will be quite as simple."
In truth, he didn't know how well he could contain the others if they had already spread deep into there's planet's core. Containment worked only if there was still something to be contained. "Are you still able to control the powers you were capable of before?"
no subject
His eyes flick to Loki's face, first to his eyes like any human would, then to his mouth, as if he's searching for the faintest of smirks to clue him into what Loki really wants.
"Dunno. Maybe." Truth is after he fucked Loki into a historic silence with his tentacles, he hadn't bothered to summon them again. After that, he'd just went about the galaxy doing Ego's will like he was in a factory and it was all mechanical, muscle memory on auto pilot. There hadn't been a need to experiment with the whole Celestial grab-bag of powers.
"Let's go to my next stop and take care of that seed," Peter says, pauses, and then he stares hard at Loki. The gullible human in him desperately wants to believe Loki's had a change of heart, that he'll help for a change without strings attached, without some grandmaster plan at play that he can't even imagine. "Why are you doing this?"
It's blunt, more blunt than the Peter would've ever dared to be around Loki.
no subject
"That seed would be most advanced, unlikely it can still be contained," Loki warned, honestly with no interest in helping whatever planet was Quill's next stop. It was not in the same realm as either Asgard or Midgard, that much Loki knew. But the choice was not his and this was two people partnership.
The question, however, required a convincing answer that Quill would believe without Loki showing his hand. The best was to mix half truths. "It is to my advantage that your expansion does not destroy the reason I currently rule." That didn't mean he had any sentimental ties to the place, or he was altruistic on any way.
"But I suppose it might be useful that you do not destroy the universe as it is known." Loki shrugged and waved a hand for Quill to proceed. "So lead the way. Personally I believe it is a waste of time."
