little steps No matter how much they care for the other person and want to be with them, some people simply can't dive head first into relationships. Little things that form intimacy and romance, little acts we take for granted - being close, holding hands, kissing, showing affection in public - they won't or can't do...at least not right off the bat. Something in their past, their experiences, their trauma, or even their personality holds them back. For both them and the person they're "dating," as it were, this can lead to a frustrating experience. Still, steps can be taken towards letting the walls fall down. Little, tiny steps, but those can mean the world all the same. The People One With the help of a partner, one person warms up. Two Both sides of this couple are learning how to be in a relationship and to be open. The Actions Talking → A relationship can't exist if there's not some communication, so either learn to use your words or become so close you can speak without them. Spending Time → Even such mundane occurrences as watching TV or cooking together is new ground. Touching → You might just find you enjoy reaching out and touching them. Kissing → Another kind of touch, when you think about it. Cuddling → ...at least they're warm and, hopefully, soft. Sleeping → You're at your absolute weakest when you're asleep. It shows trust to doze off around this person. Public Display → It's one thing to be in love in private, but showing you care in public is a different story. Kind Words → Three little words (more or less) are all it takes. Why, then, are they so hard to get out? Sex The ultimate stumbling block to some. To be laid blissfully bare is to truly let your guard down.

Each and every time he parted from Wakanda, T'Challa always felt a sense of loss, unrest lingering underneath his skin, propelling him forward to try and capture a sense of familiarity. It could be the only explanation for him calling Sam and asking him to meet him. Things with Sam were interesting and he never knew how to really react to the guy. No one ever treated him the way Sam did, nor did they speak to him in such a manner. Usually, people were overly polite and sometimes downright terrified of offending him. The whole prince title really made people weary but KING? It raised things to a new level but Sam didn't seem to care.

He couldn't decide if it relieved him or bothered him. Maybe both at the same time. Sam Wilson made him feel too many things and he didn't know what to do with it. Normally, he had such a tight lock on his emotions and didn't act so - he didn't even know the word for it.

Loopy? Impulsive? Heart eyed. The latter being a term he heard one of the Dora Milaje giggling over.

Gazing out into the breaking dawn, T'Challa clasped his hands behind him. He may have woken up Sam far too early but there weren't any photographers out yet or really anyone paying him any mind. Overseas he never dealt with it much but the States seemed obsessed with royalty. They even wanted to know how he took his tea and what sweets he fancied most.

Some part of him has yet to leave the day their mother was killed. Even after all those years apart, they still have quite a bit in common, in seems...

Creature of regret and shame and fumbling and what-ifs and whys...

And anyone who has managed to learn anything about her... is lucky to figure these things out. Even when she's crumbling on the inside, she's learned to hold firmly to a smile. She might as well be wearing a damn mask 24/7, since... when is the last time she made a face that isn't what she knows the rest of the world would rather see?

That is, until more recently...

When he came into her life, she'd felt it was by chance. Then, gradually, she'd begun to feel it was perhaps fate. Being in this unfamiliar place, this young man seems to call to her -- whether he realizes it or not, is yet to be revealed. Through the flow of time, he's managed to worm his way into her heart and tug at a part of herself she hasn't ...acknowledged, really, in what feels like an indistinguishable amount of time. And it's for this reason, she'd caught herself reaching out a few times, almost touching... but pulling back last second.
