The Roommates Meme

Whether its in the dorms at college or just because it costs too much to live alone, sometimes you just end up sharing a living space with someone else. A roommate. Or even more than one. Sometimes they're your friends and others you hate their guts. Its not always easy adjusting to living with other people.

- Post with your characters, listing name and canon in the subject line along with any prefs.
- The person that replies is now your character's roommate.
- Either set a scenario of your own or use the RNG to pick one.
- Have fun threading things out!

1. Moving In - Say hello to your brand new roomie! They're moving in today. Are you going to help them with their boxes? Hopefully you get along.

2. Moving Out - For whatever reason, you're parting ways. One of you is moving out. Will it be a tearful goodbye or are you going to tell them not to let the door hit them on the way out?

3. Best Friends - You and your roommate have been together a long while and you've become great friends. Hang out, order a pizza, watch TV. Have some fun with this great person you live with!

4. Angry! - Maybe they left the bathroom a mess. Maybe they're just way too loud at night or they ate the last of your cereal. Whatever the reason, you're angry at your roommate. Maybe they're mad too. Have a fight or try to work it out somehow.

5. Falling for them - You didn't think it would happen but it has. That roommate of yours is just your type and you've fallen for them. Will you tell them or keep it to yourself? Maybe they already know and are trying to figure out things for themselves.

6. Wildcard - Roll again or pick your own. Whatever looks fun.

Teddy started to give directions to the store he had in mind. It wasn't a far trip, especially not with a car. "This place should have what we're looking for."

He nodded, going inside. "I already have a drill, in case we need to put brackets in the ceiling or something."

"Sounds good. I've got tools too so that's covered," Teddy replied, starting to walk down one of the aisles.

Jay nodded, pausing when he saw some curtains that he found particularly appealing. He smiled. A snake coiling around a bird. Normally he disliked bird imagery, but when that bird was so obviously in the throes of defeat at the jaws of a snake, all he could think when he looked at it was victory. It kind of looked like some flowers were getting in on the action, but he had no problem sharing his imaginary victory with a bird hating plant.

"I definitely approve of this curtain."

Teddy glanced at the curtain Jay selected and smiled. "If you like it, let's get it. Think it'll be big enough?"

Jay looked at the size, then said, "I'll get two just to be safe."

"Good idea. It'll probably look better that way too."

[studious_snake]

[Picking up the second one, Jay looked at the box.] I'm not sure if they come with brackets or if we have to pick those up separately. I think we'll have to get something to hang the curtain on separately.

[Teddy nods.] Brackets typically come with the curtain rods.

He nodded and looked around, seeing curtain rods nearby. Going over and reading the size on the box the curtains were in and comparing it to the sides of rods, Jay picked out the appropriate size and grabbed two of that, as well.

"And I think this is all we'll need?"

Teddy leaned in to check the tag on the curtain rods. Nodding when he saw brackets and screws were included, he smiled.

"That looks like it will be all. Let me just grab a rub and we'll be good to go."

Jay nodded. "I'll go check out and load up the car, you can meet me out there."

[son_of_vell]

"Right," Teddy smiled. "Have fun on line. I'll join you in a minute."

He nodded, getting into line and checking out. Once he was done, he started loading up the trunk, glancing over to see if Teddy was on his way.

It was a few moments since he had to get to the back of the line but soon enough, Teddy was on his way. He had a brand new rug for the bathroom under his arm and a smile on his face.

"Sorry for the wait."

"It's okay." Jay left the trunk open for Teddy to put the rug in and unlocked the doors, getting into the driver's seat.

Teddy drops the rug into the trunk, closes the car up, and then slips into the passenger side seat.

"Hopefully this one lasts longer than the last."

[studious_snake]

"What happened to the last one?" Jay asked, waiting for Teddy to get settled in before starting the care and pulling out of his space.

Teddy blushed a little at the question.

"Well, it sort of caught fire," he admitted, a touch embarrassed.

[studious_snake]

"...how did it catch on fire?" He really had to hear this.

[son_of_vell]

"Well, there was an incident involving a puddle of water, a broken electrical cord, and slipping. Sparks came next, the rug went up in flames, I threw it in the shower to keep the whole place from burning down."

[studious_snake]

"Right. Not as exciting as I was hoping, but try not to burn the apartment down when I'm sleeping. I'm a sound sleeper and I probably won't hear any commotion." Mostly because snakes didn't have eardrums, and neither did he in his natural form.

"What did you think happened?" Teddy asked with a smile. "Oh, don't worry. I'd save you if the place started to burn down."

[studious_snake]

"I don't know, I was just expecting more excitement than clumsiness. And I'm glad to know that." Although he didn't really know that for sure, since things might change if he saw a giant snake instead of Jay. "So like...do you do hypothetical discussions at all?"

Teddy laughed. "Can't promise a lot of excitement living with me," he said with a grin. "It depends on what the top of the discussion is."
