Let's make it a date

THE DATE MEME

Here's how it works!

1. Comment to this post with your character. List the character's name, series, and any preferences you might have in the subject.

Locations

1. Restaurant. What better way to spend some romantic time than over food? Maybe you're at the fancy restaurant in town, or maybe you just couldn't afford anything nice, so you're at the nearest diner. Or maybe somewhere in between?

2. Games. The two of you are playing a game somewhere! You could be at a bowling alley, an arcade, a miniature golf course...the possibilities here are countless.

3. The Park. Of course, Mother Nature can provide an excellent atmosphere for romantic bonding! Perhaps you're taking a leisurely stroll through the lush grounds, or maybe you've laid out a blanket somewhere so the two of you could have a picnic.

4. Movie Theater. Or maybe the two of you are sitting next to each other in a dark room, sharing a bucket of popcorn while you're watching the latest film. Did you opt for a horror flick to keep your significant other latched to your arm -- or for you to latch to theirs -- or perhaps something they enjoy, like a sappy romance film or a cheesy action flick? Or maybe you compromised and went to see a sweet romantic comedy.

5. Skating. It's always nice to go skating, right? Are you at a roller skating rink, or did you find a frozen lake and decide to go ice skating? Which one of you needs help (you know at least one of you does)?

6. Beach. Ahh, the beach! Go ahead and set up camp wherever you like! Or if you don't watn to lay down and catch a tan, you can go swimming, or take a walk along the shore! Or if you don't want getting sand on your feet or in your shoes, go hit up the boardwalk!

7. Sunday Drive. Sometimes you don't really have a destination in mind. Sometimes you just want to drive and enjoy the scenery. Well, here's your chance to do that!

8. Amusement Park. There's plenty to do here! Take your date on the Ferris wheel, or the tunnel of love...or something more thrilling, like a roller coaster! Walk around with cotton candy!

9. Dance/Ball. School dance? Prom? Business gala? Whatever it is, you're there, and you've got a date.

10. Wild Card. Your choice! Feel free to pick something that's not here.

Relationships

1. Blind Date. You had no idea who you were going out with until you arrived! Was it a complete stranger, or did it turn out to be someone you knew?

2. First Date. You finally worked up the courage to ask this person out, and they agreed! How awkward is this going to end up?

3. Steady. You guys have been going out for a while. This is just another one of many dates.

4. Proposing. This isn't just any date for you. You've brought your significant other out somewhere to propose to them! Make sure to warm them up for the main event!

[ so it's the height of summer and instead of the beach or the movies, akira proposes the new ice skating rink that opened in that large mall down in shibuya. he's never gone skating before and he's not sure if minako has either, but he figures at best they'd stumble through something new together. at worst, he finds out she's actually a figure skater and she ends up showing him the ropes. though, that idea doesn't really seem all that bad, if he's being honest.

anyway, he's lounging at a cafe near the rink with some fruity tea while he waits for minako. ever since living at leblanc, he's found he can't drink coffee unless it's been brewed by sojiro. at least it saves him money. ]

[ Summer's supposed to be all about the beach, but Minako has found that summer in Tokyo can be Unbearable (with a capital U) but still fairly tolerable. So, beach and/or movies aside, the new skating rink sounds more interesting. And skating! She's only watched it on TV and she definitely doesn't know how to do it, but it can't be that hard… right?

She manages to find that ever familiar mop of hair at a cafe near the new rink and rushes to greet him. ]

Akira-kuuuuun!

[ Rush hour sucks. ]

[ it's okay, akira has max dexterity so they can probably figure it out together somehow.

he looks up from his phone once he hears her, finishing up his tea and getting up to meet her halfway. he's got his bag with him but no morgana today, instead it's stuffed with a jacket and two scarves, just in case she needs one. ]

Hey, [ he's not going to try and hide the find smile on his face when he greets her, and no one can blame him for it. akira isn't super big on pda, but he does lean in to brush his lips along her hairline, right at where her bangs part. ] Sorry for making you rush here.

[ At the kiss, she giggles. Then she loops her left arm with his right. ]

It's fine! We just can't beat the summer heat indoors, right?

[ Sneaks a look at this bag. No meows or a fuzzy head jutting out. ]

Aww, is the kitty cooling himself somewhere?

[ she loops her arm with his and he isn't even bothered, slipping his hands in his pockets while they head to the rink. his smile turns wry at the mention of morgana. ]

Probably. [ in truth, he's spending the day with futaba, as she's the only one with the working air conditioning. a smart move on his part. ] Works out better for me. I won't have to compete with anyone.

[ it's no surprise that everyone likes minako, especially morgana. not that it really bothers akira, but so sue him if he wants to spend time with just her, okay. ]

Like you have competition. [ most of the guys who have actually tried to ask her out weren't her type (which, if she's being honest, is basically just being A Decent Human Being and not being a giant asshole, and in her case, said guys fall under the latter category. She also figured that she wasn't the type most guys would initially gravitate to (sure she's cute but she's also a little flirty and a tad headstrong and she probably shocked them).

Honestly though? Like Minako gives a fuck about what other people think of her (unless it's about her friends, then that's when she does care).

So. Skating rink. ]

You know, first date's normally somewhere cozy, but I don't really mind that we're deviating from the norm. Have you ever done this before?

Maybe I'm just lucky.

[ she is different from most girls, but it never really bothered him before. he also hangs out with ann and makoto on the daily, both headstrong girls in their own right, so he's probably got an advantage. but he likes that about minako; that she's sweet but also won't hesitate to give someone a piece of her mind if it comes down to it. ]

I haven't, no. [ he's a country boy, remember? ] But I've always wanted to give it a try.

[ so here they are at the rink. they actually skip the line entirely because he bought their passes ahead of time, and from there it's grabbing their skates and a locker to store their things in. ]

If you did want something cozy, we can always go to my place after.

[ Wow, buddy, did you max Arsene's Luck stat or what— ]

Well, looks like we're in the same boat! [ Just because she's a small city girl doesn't mean there were skating rinks at Iwatodai. ] Let's wing it!

[ #BadIdea, y/n? Minako lets out a low whistle when Akira manages to get them to skip the incredibly big line. What a scout. And of course her pair of skates happened to be a pinkish, close to peach even, color. ]

Leblanc, right? [ Said as if she knew a lick of French (not... quite...) but it helps when a Certain Senpai was quite the polyglot. ] We're still on our first date, y'know.

[ there's a bit of a smirk on his face at her whistle and he may or may not be feeling a little pleased with himself. coming here the day before was worth it, especially since the line looks like it could take at least an hour to clear out.

while she grabs her pink skates, he opts for a pair of red ones. complimentary colors, u know. his smile turns just this side of crooked as he takes her bag, putting it next to his in the locker. ]

I promise to be on my best behavior.

[ Akira gets another giggle because stoooopP you're more charming that a protein-obsessed senpai running around half-naked in his first years of adulthood. She sits down on one of the benches, taking her sandals off, in order to put on the skates. ]

I'll hold you to that. [ ;^) ] There'll be coffee and curry too, right?

That can be arranged.

[ they only ever have coffee and curry, she knows this. he's been trying his hand at other things lately, like cookies and other pastries to varying degrees of success. he may or may not have been inspired by minako's cooking club.

but anyway, he laces up his skates next to her, testing his weight and balance on the blade when he stands. it's a little awkward, but they aren't sitting far from the rink itself, so they can probably manage. hopefully. either way, he offers a gloved hand to minako once she's done. ]
