Kari was thrilled when she had gotten the invite from Aiden to meet up. She was intrigued to see what he might have up his sleeve. So she had suggested one of her favorite clubs, and made sure to get them a room where they had some privacy as well as a magnum of champagne on ice.

When he got there, she was just relaxed on the leather couch having dressed up for a night out - a red dress that fit her figure perfectly with a plunging neckline and a slit up the thigh. She smiled and stood when he got there resisting the urge to move in for a hug.

"I'm glad you could make it. I wanted someplace a little more exciting than my apartment."

He was dressed in a nice three piece suit. When he went out he went to the nines and was glad he had upon seeing her. He notices the neckline and that slit that would be so easy to get his hand into.

"Figured we could both use a night out."

But she didn't mind. She was saving lives and that was the most important part, even if that was also why she'd taken the matching heels off as soon as she walked into the room. But she took his hand and led him to the couch to sit with her.

"I ordered up some sushi and champagne, wasn't sure what you're in the mood for. Although there are other things I wouldn't mind you eating later."

Ardyn falls, except it isn't Ardyn. It isn't Ardyn. Noct would know that terrified scream anywhere. It's the heralding cry of daemons rising from still waters. An omen in the somber silence of the night when hulking abominations are hot on the Regalia's bumper. It's the exact same sound that Prompto made when he retired to a nearby tree once to empty his bladder, only to zip himself up painfully wrong in a mad dash to get away from an ornery hive of wasps. It's not Ardyn. It's Prompto. It was Prompto all along. (For how l—no, he has no time to think.)

"How long were you—" says a voice. Noct doesn't hear the rest of it. All sound is supplicated by the shweeeeeeet! of time and space bending for him in an explosion of sapphire contrails. He's not even entirely sure where he's warped to until he arrives at his final destination, clinging to a low-hanging branch as he surveys the forest floor. Let him be alive. Merciful fucking heavens, please let him be okay.

"Prompto!" he screams. A Behemoth could be standing nearby, trying to enjoy a peaceful evening meal, and Noct would only yell louder. The time for subtlety and stealth is over. "Prompto! Goddamnit!"

He will warp from tree to tree until he finds him. Level this entire fucking forest if he must. And he will spend the whole time calling Prompto's name, until he hears that voice again.
