hurt/comfort smut; meme Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself.

to bring you out of the darkness; The injury may not be a temporary physical or mental one, however. Some characters suffer more deeply, even if they don't know it. Darkness covers their hearts, they're withdrawn, insecure, angry, or lonely. They need someone to reach out to them and show them unconditional love. This post can provide that, too. Whether it be the cliche and shameless "changed by your love" trope or something more subtle like getting someone to open up, the characters here can offer that and more. [ Exhaustion is the feeling of the day, it seems, and Stella, for all of her carefully marshaled unflappable self-control, isn't immune to it. She doesn't think she was really meant to be caught up in this — monsters from outside this reality terrorizing the citizens of London is something she would have previously relegated to science fiction. It had quickly become clear that even the armed police didn't have the resources necessary to cope, not entirely, and Stella and other senior officers had had to work together to come up with another solution.

They hadn't needed to. An extraordinary threat had required an extraordinary response, and — well, if you'd asked her Stella would have said she didn't give much credit to the idea of superheroes, either, even though she's seen the stories in the papers and on the news. In this specific case, however, she's all too happy to be proven wrong.

Diana is tough and determined and beautiful and, to be very honest, if she hadn't arrived when she had, Stella and some of her colleagues might be dead now. They'd "won," in the sense that the creatures had been killed, or sent back to whatever place they'd come from, Stella doesn't know which and truly doesn't much care — but parts of the city are a wreck and, worse, people have died. The victory feels hollow, and Stella can't help but feel like she could have done more, tried harder. She couldn't have, but that doesn't do anything for the feeling.

They're in Stella's flat in a good part of Crouch End, a little away from the mess in central London, where the air isn't full of smoke and the streets aren't full of debris and she can pretend, a little, as if the past several hours didn't happen. It might seem strange, to invite a woman she's only known for such a short time into her own home, and under other circumstances she doesn't think she would — but it's strange, how going through a crisis together can make people feel closer, more intimate. It's a respite, if nothing else, from the rest of the world, and Stella, tired as she is, will take what little respite she can get before her own work ethic will call her back to her job.

Right at the moment, standing in her kitchen, she could use a drink — not to get drunk, but simply to at least try to relax. She looks over a couple bottles on her counter, and calls out to Diana, sitting on the sofa a few feet away: ]
