1. Friendly Hug: The default hug; a hug as a show of platonic affection. Is it a normal hug, or a pouncetackleglomp? You decide!

2. Romantic Hug: Kissing isn't the only way that lovers share physical affection. Show your feelings with a romantic hug!

3. Comfort Hug: They look so sad... give them a hug to cheer them up!

4. Awkward Hug: You really don't want to give this person a hug; maybe you just had a fight, or you're just too stoic/manly/badass to do hugs in general. Too bad, you have to give them one. Do your best!

5. Scoop Hug: In addition to a hug, the hugger picks up the huggee slightly off the ground. Works best when they're bigger and stronger, but hey, seeing little girls try to pick up 6-foot badasses is cute too.

6. Surprise Hug: Sneak up on them from behind with a surprise hug!

7. Violent Hug: Hugs are supposed to be friendly, what gives? Whether you're squeezing the wind out of them or are just getting them into the perfect position for a backstab, you're only giving this person a hug in order to hurt them.

8. Other: Reroll, pick your own, mix and match, etc.

[If there is a good thing about being Gladio’s little sister, and if you ask her there are many, is that no one who knows her brother is surprised at all when Iris turns up to be just as physically affectionate as her brother. Gladio is always touching people, reaching for them- a squeeze of their shoulder, a hand on the small of someone’s back, he’s simply a very hands on kind of man, a very loving friend.

So Iris is also a very loving girl herself. When she has to cheer someone up, she usually defaults to hugging them.

And it’s not like she’s decided the little version if Ignis needs some cheering up. It’s hard to explain, what she sees in him. She’s pretty sure part of it are her own feelings for the older Ignis: the slight pang of frustration she always feels when he’s surprised at being thanked, the overprotectiveness because in one way or another he’s part of the family.

Either way, and even though she had been warned and she knew what to expect when she came across Ignis, she still has the sudden urge to wrap the little boy in her arms and pull him into a hug.

So she does.]

[ The thing is, at this point in his life Ignis only knows of Gladio, and he certainly doesn't know Iris. So the hug is a surprise, and one rather rare, really.

On the other hand, she is only a little taller than himself - well. Much less than most people he spends his time with, and definitely less than most of the people who've been panicking and glaring at and about him since the morning. Or fussing, as his uncle did, in his way.

So while Ignis stiffens, he doesn't try to push her away or pull back from the hold. (After a moment, he realizes that, yes, it does feel pleasant. She means it, he thinks.) ]

Good afternoon. [ Except his voice sort of squeaks at the end at it comes out more as 'good afternoon?'... ]

[The return journey from Tenebrae had been harrowing - a dangerous, stealthy trek across half a continent (much of which Noctis had to be carried, not yet recovered enough to limp more than a couple steps, much less run, and the secret back ways and narrow paths his father, Clarus and himself had taken out of the mountains wouldn't have been traversable by wheelchair even if they'd managed to bring one) and a long boat ride back to safer lands, but even then the entire journey from the shores of Lucis back to its capital had been tense and exhausting for all that it had been in a car.

And in the two weeks since then, Noctis has spoken no more than a handful of words. The first few days, he'd spent mostly asleep, exhausted from the journey and the renewed flares of pain where the stress of the journey had aggravated still-healing nerves and tender bones. But even since his energy picked up again and physical therapy resumed in earnest, Noctis has avoided speaking more than the bare minimum. Even setting aside the present physical frailty, he is barely recognizable as the same eager, if shy, child who had mere months ago been oft chided for running in the halls, laughing and full of curiosity about everything.

But of course, not quite everything has changed, and even if the way he communicates has shifted, his feelings about his closest friend are no different. Ignis is still a steady source of comfort, and when one evening Noctis finds himself unable to settle his restless thoughts enough to sleep, he decides to do something about it. He has only just been allowed to use crutches outside of therapy to aid in balance and not putting too much weight on either leg, and getting out of bed without help is a struggle, but he manages, and eventually he's limped his way to Ignis' room, where he knocks on the door before opening it and doing his best to navigate inside. He's exhausted and his arms are trembling a little and sides sore from the exertion, but it is worth it, because when Ignis inevitably comes over to help him, Noctis has the opportunity to do something he couldn't really in a wheelchair: he carefully puts his arms around Ignis to cling to him.

Noct doesn't say anything when he hugs Ignis - just hugs him and hopes Specs understands that it's a thanks and it's also because Noctis just... needs a hug.]

[ Ignis has been worried.

No, Ignis has been worried sick, in his own quiet way. Because Noctis almost died, and then, when his life was supposed to be safe, it got worse. And the trip... It is impossible for Ignis to not see that Noct is still in pain, different kind of pain that something as simple as a restorative would mend, and he had no idea how to help. None.

But he tried - staying close, not getting angry with the silence or the apparent sullenness, trying to guess what Noct might want or need and make it available to him. While keeping up with his own studies, of course. Not that he has been doing quite as well as usual, not since that night, but he has to push forward.

Which is what he's doing tonight, trying to focus on words that scatter too easily on the page, and he doesn't expect the gradual rhythmic click he half-registers outside his room to resolve in a knock.

He is out of his seat the moment he realizes who is at the door, reaching out to support Noct while the younger boy half-falls against him, slender arms wrapping around him, and Ignis. Ignis hasn't been hugged in a while, other than the quick ones that Noct might or might not have given him when a lot younger.

But he holds his prince tight for a long moment, eyes wide but as certain of wanting this as he has ever been. Noct came all the way here for this, too, and. Oh.

He doesn't pull back, but he says, into the dark hair, ] I can bring you a chair to sit right here if you want. Or help you to the bed. [ He'll not make Noct ask. Or explain. Just indicate his preference somehow, Ignis will make it happen. And yes, he'll take as much of Noct's weight as he can now, too.

(There are more words, too. I am glad that you came, and thank you, and so many others. But making sure Noct doesn't fall down seems like a priority.) ]

Everything hurt. There was a thick silence hanging in the hallway of the emergency room and Aoko's heart hurt more than she could bare. It was like someone had stuck a giant weight on it and somehow it was difficult to breathe as a swirl of emotions went on inside her. She was angry, of course she was angry he'd lied to her for so long, she was confused as to how this had even happened, she angry again at him for being stupid enough to-

Her heart felt even heavier somehow and she tried to just breathe. Out of all the emotions she was currently feeling sad was the most predominant one. She sat in the hallway a little longer while the doctor was talking to her dad. She hears the the door nearby opening and looks up to see who it was- part time of her was hoping that it was all a lie-a stupid magic trick but the one who came through the door wasn't the magician but the detective.

She takes a few shaky breaths before getting out of her seat,walking directly over to him and throwing her arms around him.
