Caught in the rain

It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. Time to find cover. Nothing much to do but to wait it out.

i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of.
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm.
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.

ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck.
004 BAG - Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - You know what. You're a rebel. You don't need cover. Screw convention.
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it.

001 REJECTED - Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.

( For the most part she ignored his gaze on her scars; it wasn't in her nature to bring them up unless prompted and even then she'd probably have to think up a good excuse. )

You're not a bad guest, you were under that terrible weather for a long time. If you want I can make you some coffee or tea. Or call someone for you?

Oh! Tea would be lovely. Thank you.

[Maybe that might make him feel more himself. Although, less and less seemed to make him feel at his best, anymore. He just kept falling deeper and deeper into this hole. Basic instincts seem to function down here, but that didn't work in wizarding high society.]

( At his response, Adora offered a smile -- not very much like her when in strangers' company but she was warming up to the young man.

She stepped over to the kitchenette - still in sight, really, with only that wooden division in the way (and even that was built with spaces to see through) - to boil some water for the two of them. )

Anyway-- where are you from, Rabastan? Around here, or...?

[He tugged at his hair again.]

Hampshire, actually. Well, that's where I grew up. I'm staying in...London...currently.

[That got him thinking. He wasn't sure what day it was, and he couldn't remember the last time he had been to work. They had warned him his job was on the line the last time he went missing for a few days.]

That may change...

Oh? Are you looking for a new place around here? ( With her back to him, Adora can hardly take note of his reactions. She seems entertained, between boiling water on the stove and looking for a tea blend - black. She goes with black tea for that extra bit of energy. ) It's kind of nice, I think you might enjoy it. Then again, I'm biased on the matter -- I do live here after all.

I hadn't considered it, but so far I've liked it.

[The company seems infinitely better. Well, the whole one person he's encountered here, at least.]

Maybe when it's not raining, sometime, you could show me around. It's not hard for me to travel here, or anything.

( Sometimes it takes one person to remind you that not everyone is quite the same.

... Then again there's that extra layer when the person isn't quite mundane as well. )

Oh yeah? I mean- that would be nice. ( She peeks at him from across the divider, holding up a mug of tea. No cups, sorry - her dishes are limited and possibly still in the sink after a bigger dinner. ) Sugar? Honey?

( So she's holding up two, actually - one on each hand. She carefully steps back towards the couch - barefoot and all - and hands him one, but doesn't sit yet. )

I'm not a very good guide but... I guess I could show you around sometime.

[He took the mug from her and held it in his hand, letting the heat warm his fingers. He always had poor circulation, no matter the weather outside.]

Oh, I'd be terrible as a guide. I don't know anything about anywhere. I'm surprised I can even get around most days. I'm an artist, and you'd think I'd notice more, but...then again I really only like to draw people rather than places. They're more interesting to look at, I suppose.

You're an artist?

( Her attention seemed to perk up at that.

She sat beside him then, offering a soft smile and curious, curious eyes. )

That's wicked. Artists have such beautiful minds. ( Adora herself was more of a musical person, but even then she didn't think it was all that brilliant of her. She wasn't as dedicated as some close friends, to begin with. ) You must really enjoy what you do.

Yeah, it's just a hobby, but...it's what I've always wanted to do. I can't make any money off of it, but it's what keeps me going, you know?

[He took a sip of his tea.] I love it.

Some people pay good money for art. ( She takes a slow sip of her tea, watching him. It's different now - like he's opening up a little. Not bad for a stranger she met just a while earlier, under the pouring rain. Not bad at all. ) And if you love it, it's more than just a hobby, right?

I'd like to see what you draw some day, Rabastan. I really would.

Right. [Another sip. It's making him feel more himself.] Yeah, right.

Well, perhaps if you show me about, I'll show you some of my work. I'll bring my book.

[Granted, he couldn't show her all his pieces. She'd probably run in terror. But he could show her a select few. The more...delicate ones.]

( That's a funny thought; without knowing much about him, Adora suspects he would run in terror if he realised how unnatural he is. At least they're just having tea and not a full meal, too. )

That sounds like a deal. ( She smiles, taking another sip of the tea before pulling her knees up to her chest. It's surprisingly nice to just sit there and chat; the young man seems to be calming down too? The rain must not have been helping. ) So... Anyway, you said you're not from around here. Where are you staying?

I'm not staying anywhere around here. I'm not even sure why I was here. I still can't remember. It's not too hard for me to travel, or anything. I don't usually overnight anywhere...

[In the awkward silence he left there, he took another sip of tea.]

( Nothing about his statement makes the moment any less awkward; Adora is caught mid-sip, her eyes comically wide for a brief moment while she tries to make some sense of things. )

... What do you mean you can't remember why you're here?

[Well, now he felt sheepish. He just sort of shrugged.]

I don't know. All I remember is you coming to me in the rain. Before that, not much. So I'm not sure what I was supposed to do in this area. maybe I wasn't supposed to do anything. Maybe I just...popped in.

... Oh. Um.

( There's evidently something more than the element of surprise in her voice, but she tries to sort of... Grasp the situation. It isn't as if she's not surrounded by odd circumstances, so this could really mean nothing.

She idly scratches her ankle, fingertips tugging at the pulled tissue of one of her scars. )

It sounds like you just had a rough day. I mean.. I'm sure once you rest, you'll remember how you got here, right?

[He blinked several times, taking another sip of his tea.]

Er, yeah. Of course. That usually happens.

[Except when it doesn't.]

It seems to be letting up a bit. [He said, indicating the outside.] I don't want to be a bother...
