We all have our private traps

SECRET relationship;

The fact that you're in a relationship with this person isn't public knowledge. Actually, no one knows about it except for the people involved. Maybe you guys are just private like that; on the other hand, it may be a necessity to keep things a secret from others. Maybe you're both team mates, and others on the team would give you grief, or you're not suppose to be dating, or you're not the type to usually date and you're only testing the waters. Perhaps it's the combination of you two, possibly an odd couple, that would bring some controversy or some teasing. Or, you know, you could not want to deal with friends and relatives being busybodies. Your reasons are your own.

Are you content with stealing moments to be together as a couple? Do you want to make your relationship known and the fact that you can't drives you batty? Remember, there are lots of benefits to dating in secret. You can be yourselves completely, away from prying eyes, and get to know each other better as potential longterm romantic partners. In a way, it's ideal.

[ As the heir to a large corporation in-universe (in a similar AU possible for the purposes of this meme) Yuuko can't really date anyone publicly in the first place -- at least without the media becoming aware. She may also fall in the 'testing the waters' category, unless your character can cook/bake well and/or takes her out to eat often (in which case, she's probably already sold on the idea of dating seriously.) Age is also variable from fifteen onwards; I default to 19, but older or younger is fine if you have a preference for her age. Character info is here. ]

[ ooc: A good guy who makes good food? Yes, easily; enjoy the protection of an international tech corporation when Yuuko takes a shine to him (and his cooking). Do you have any ideas or preferences on what kind of secret relationship things they should do? Indoor dates? Snuggling and watching tv/movies/etc, and/or snuggling while reading/computer things/etc? [ ooc: The former sounds likely! I'm sure it was largely innocent at first, but when he makes her all kinds of amazing meals all the time... it's hard not to get attached. So scandalous to develop feelings for someone she has formally employed, ohoho. NSFW would be fine; any preferences as to where to thread? ]

[ ooc: Hmm... I think I'd prefer an off-comm journal. At what point would you like to start, as far as the scene goes? I don't mind starting, or if you'd like to start, Yuuko can always visit his place... ]

[There weren't many places an ex-assassin could go, not unless they wanted previous targets to come after him. What he needed was the protection of someone in charge of a company. Going after targets of huge organizations was always more risky, given the nightmare the firm employing assassins could deal with if their partners were gone. Or it could prove the other way around, Hei couldn't dismiss that possibility.

So he went to work for Yuuko's company, finding himself easily employed given his talents. Luckily, she didn't seem interested in making him go out and kill people. On the contrary, he was assigned to be her bodyguard, later proving himself to be good enough to be a cook as well. From then on, barring the whole Digimon business, things started to calm down his life for a while.

In fact, he was cooking as usual at his new apartment, at least until he heard a knock. When he went to answer it, he raised an eyebrow seeing Yuuko here. Still, he gave a smile. After all, she helped save his life with this job, and he enjoyed having someone else enjoy his cooking.]

Ah Yuuko. What brings you here?

[ ooc: hello I'm a slow bean melting in convention preparations, lmao, sorry for that long delay! here is fine for gen stuff, I think. thanks for making a starter! o7 ]

[ The night had started off fine, but in the end, the loneliness got to her, again. Knowing all of her friends had plenty to do in their busy lives didn't help. Yuuko knew how that was, and running a massive tech corporation didn't leave her much time, either. Enough to stave off loneliness during the day, but some nights, she still struggled to keep herself above the waters of sadness.

But that's the precise reason she wasn't contacting her friends. They surely would contact her if they wanted to talk... or had the time. The last thing she wanted to do was distract them from whatever positive things occupied their time. And yet, Yuuko still found herself wishing fervently, at times, that one of them would contact her sometime. They did, on occasion, but the majority of it was a short period of messaging... rarely ending in a cup of coffee in the morning, or a visit to a park, anything.

In the end, she did get out of the condominium, but only after sending a message to her only real companion recently. A bodyguard, paid to be around -- a little sad that the only person she ended up being around regularly was her bodyguard. But his cooking was at least restaurant quality, if not more... Yuuko liked to think that's all there was to it.

When she arrived at the apartment, she knocked on the door lightly, looking up to the familiar, friendly face... with the blinking and somewhat widened eyes of confusion. ]

Ah... Did you not receive my message--?

[ -- She checked her messages out of sheer paranoia; the typed text was still in the editing field. Oh. Embarrassed and somewhat ashamed of such a simple mistake, Yuuko looked down and to the side. The second-guessing and self-doubt swarmed down like a flock of birds, pecking away at the superficial confidence she put on display for the sake of work. ]

-- Mm. Nevermind... sorry, I thought I had sent that message. Um... I-- I'm a little hungry, so I must not be thinking well enough... it's fine if you're too busy to make anything, I understand!

[He raised his hand, waving off her nervousness. Not the first time he dealt with this from her, or anyone really. He even gave a comforting smile to help her relax a bit.]

Don't worry, I was cooking anyway. [He opened the door more for her, stepping out of the way. Yuuko would easily smell the food still cooking, a mix of aromas from quite a few types escapiny Hei's home.]

By all means, do come in.

[ So reassuring, that the nervousness melted off Yuuko near-instantaneously. Or was it catching a whiff of whatever Hei already started making? It was most likely both. ]

Ah... I see, thank you.

[ Carefully stepping inside, she allowed herself just a little bit of a smile at the implication that she's welcome. But she doesn't stop walking when in the door, instead following the scent of a delicious feast in preparation without thinking -- but stopped herself to turn her head to face him curiously. ]

What are you making... ? It smells delicious...

[He closes the door behind them. Felt strange that his boss was someone younger than him, especially when Yuuko seemed nervous. In a way, it reminded him of his sister, who was obviously not with him due to...circumstances.]

Perfect Sesame Chicken, along with some rice. I usually make a ton for me, so there is definitely plenty of food.

Ah, that sounds wonderful. I suppose I'm lucky to have come at a good time...

[ Looking around for somewhere to sit and wait for the chicken to finish cooking, Yuuko found herself even hungrier in the face of dinner... an embarrassing stomach growl ensued. Quickly, she moved her arms in front of her stomach, willing it to calm down, even though it wasn't necessarily going to help at all. ]

[Seeing her looking for a place to sit, he bent down, placing a mat on the table in the living room.]

Not much, but you can sit here while I finish making the food. Should be ready soon, so our stomachs won't have to wait long.

It isn't as though they're unaccustomed to long bouts of quiet - in the course of any given mission, there are plenty of moments when silences are maintained for drawn out stretches at at time, but this is ... this is different. There's a heaviness hanging between them - a heaviness that feels like it's pregnant with possibilities.

Jyn almost doesn't want to find out which way it was going to go, even though she was the one that had suggested that maybe, they could do this, despite all the reasons why they shouldn't. (Just because they shouldn't didn't mean that she didn't want to.)

She can't help the softly surprised little chuckle that escapes her lips to hear the question, as ridiculous as it is. "I'm feeling a lot of things, Cassian, and ill is not one of them."
