(Or enemy texting, if that's more your bag.) instructions: What it says on the tin! Leave a comment with your character, include preferences, a start, absolutely nothing or whatever you want. Run around and reply to others. Lather, rinse, repeat.

i… i guess i could take a little nap. see you soon, ok? [ a sigh tumbles from her lips as she nudges a couple of documents aside and falls onto the couch. as soon as she shuts her eyes she is out like a light. hopefully he’s not too far away. ]

[ Luckily for Pepper, he is.

Jim manages to bypass security with a smile (even though he's clad in shirt and sweatpants), especially when he says he's here for Ms. Potts. It could be that they're more convinced by the fact that all Jim has is literally pancakes, coffee, a crumpled receipt in his pocket, and a dead phone, but he likes to think it's because he's endearing.

Outside Pepper's office, he taps the button by her door to contact her inside. He knows she can see him through a tiny screen and hear him, but Jim speaks extra loud just in case. ]

Delivery for Ms. Potts? I got food and a handsome paper salesman.

shhhh, leave her schedule out of this.

( and it’s a good thing he hadn’t kept her waiting long, because she might not have woken up! when he calls her she jerks upright and looks around, confused. huh? she doesn’t even remember laying her head down. man, she much have been even more exhausted than she realized. rubbing the sleep out of her eyes she pushes herself up from the couch and ambles over to the door. )

Did I hear handsome salesman? ( opening the door she smiles at him. ) Mm, handsome sure is right. ( combing her eyes over him for emphasis she reaches for his wrist, tugging him inside. )

I’m glad you’re here. ( she sinks into him, arms winding around him as her eyes close. maybe that nap wasn't a good idea, because now she's feeling lethargic. )

her dedication to work is one of the things jim loves about her tho :/

Glad to be-- [ Jim's interrupted by the hug, but he can't possibly argue against it. On the contrary, he smiles as his chin settles on Pepper's head, his position changing only the slightest bit to kiss her forehead. ] --here, Pepper.

[ Carrying both food and drink, it's hard for Jim to hug her back. At the same time, though, he can't move, either; being clung onto like this is too comfortable, too perfect.

He makes tiny steps in the hopes Pepper will take tiny steps backward. It's worth a shot. ]

Brought your food and coffee... but I'm thinking maybe we can save that for actual breakfast, like maybe at seven. Or eight.

aw ♥ well that's not going to change anytime soon at least. workaholic, what.

( and she knows she should probably move but he’s too warm and too comfortable and she just wants to melt into his arms and stay there for the remainder of the night. )

What time is it anyway… ( she really has no idea. ) But I ( she starts, almost sheepishly. ) I can’t thank you enough for coming on such short notice. ( at least she knows it’s late. er, early. )

Might be a good idea. ( she starts moving backward with his urging… stopping only when they reach the couch. she falls into a seat, waiting until he sets the food and drink aside before grabbing a hold of him and tugging him alongside her. ) Do you mind staying over? No, right?

[ They can just heat everything up later. The perks of working in an extremely high-tech, expensive building, Jim's sure.

He settles nicely into the seat, pulling Pepper close with an arm around her. She looks sleepy, not just in the fluttering of her eyes but in the general dreamy expression. It's super cute, and Jim takes a mental snapshot as his fingers absently stroke at her arm. ]

There's something amazingly flattering about being the corporate woman's early morning snuggle call. [ Letting Pepper lean against him, Jim expects her to pass out again eventually. He kisses her brow, though, more than happy to talk her through it.

Exhaustion is one thing, but he hopes he can take some of the stress away, too. ]

and she appreciates that more than he knows.

...thanks... [ she murmurs as he settles in alongside her. pepper turns and presses against his chest, hands finding a fist full of his shirt as she clings to him. ] The best early morning snuggle call. [ she tilts her head in the hopes of catching his lips in that kiss, but, oops, she's not the most coordinated at the moment. ]

I still have so much to do. [ she frowns, rubbing at her face with her free hand. ] I hope I can find the time to finish... [ but the more tired she becomes the easier it is not to care. ] I'm sure it'll be fine.

[ she looks over at the food he brought. ] So what did you end up bringing, hm?

I told you I'd be bringing pancakes and coffee, didn't I? [ Of course, maybe she's too sleepy to remember, but Jim doesn't fault her for it. There aren't very many people he can name that work harder than Pepper does--actually, now that he thinks about it, there isn't even a single name.

That probably says a lot. It also makes him especially touched that she'd hang with someone as lazy as Jim is. ]

But we can save that for later. Right now I think I should be stroking your hair like you're a cat, [ which he starts doing, fingers absently brushing through strawberry blonde hair ] and telling you that you look really good in that skirt.

Maybe. ( she doesn’t doubt that he had told her what he was going to bring but she can’t remember for the life of her. a lot of that conversation is a blur. she sinks into him as a sleepy smile turns on her lips. )

( and he better not be beating himself up again. laziness isn’t the end of the world. he’s kind and caring and probably one of the sweetest people she’s ever met. no matter how bad of a day she’s had she knows she can count on him to put a smile on her face. )

…a cat in a skirt… ( she shakes her head and chuckles at the silly mental image he’s provided. ) Glad you like it. ( she reaches for his hand and gives it a kiss. ) I’m really glad you came.

I'm glad I came, too. [ And he means it.

Feeling Pepper's mouth on his skin has Jim's lips twitching before he can help it. Sometimes he wonders if it's easy to get the wrong impression of Pepper Potts, but at the same time feels some irrational joy at perhaps being the only to be able to see her all silly and affectionate like this. His thumb moves and it can stroke Pepper's cheek; man, she's soft, both in touch and the way she smiles at him.

He touches at the corner of Pepper's mouth, careful not to smudge her lipstick. ] You've been way too busy lately.

I miss seeing you all sleepy like this. [ Jim laughs. ] Is that weird?

( and she is feeling really affectionate lately. if only she could afford to spare a few days to take a small staycation. )

( jim is one of the only people that have had a chance to see pepper so laid back and casual. she doesn’t let her guard down often, because she knows someone is almost always watching… but with him, well, she just feels so content that it’s hard not to relax. )

I know. It’s been a hectic ( day, week, ) month. It’ll let up soon. ( hopefully. ) No, ( she tilts her head back and gives him another misaligned kiss. ) not weird. I like this. Not… not being tired, but… just laying with you…

Wow... must be fate that we think so similarly.

[ Jim's fingers continue to stroke at Pepper's hair, the tips of them tracing the curve of her skull as he goes down. He doesn't have to kiss her all the time, but his lips do settle nicely at her temple, low rumbles of content forming in the base of his throat. If Pepper touches at his neck, she'll feel the vibrations. ]

What've you been up to all month, anyway?

…something like that… ( as she feels herself starting to drift to sleep she tries to stave it off, at least for a few more minutes. tired as she is, she doesn’t want to sleep just yet. )

Me? well… I’m sure you’ve heard all about the Avengers… ( it feels like only yesterday midtown was in shambles no thanks to the chitauri. ) Just running Stark and doing my best to mitigate the damages done, because ( she takes a deep breath. ) while we weren’t directly involved… same name, former face… ( tony. )

I don’t think it’ll ever end. ( but she can hope. ) But that’s what makes nights like these that much better.

[ The corners of Jim's lips twitch, but that's primarily because he never really knows what to say about Pepper's exciting, other life. His world seems so small compared to hers--so simple in its 9 to 5 existence--but if that's something that helps ground her, that helps her heart calm down when it's necessary, then Jim supposes he should be grateful for it.

He kisses the top of Pepper's head. She's his hardworking girl. ]

I'll definitely be around every time you need a break from reality. [ He can at least promise that much. ] If you haven't noticed, I've got a lot more free time.

But you have to watch out for yourself more, okay? Or at least give some duties to your subordinates. [ Jim's index finger absently twirls a lock of hair. ] You're not the only one in the company, you know.

( he doesn’t have to say much of anything to be honest. it’s nice not to have to think about it, even if it’s just for a little while. however, she knew that this life of hers, this ‘ other ‘ side, was interesting, so if he ever asked about it in detail she wouldn’t brush him off. )

You’re the best. ( she murmurs against him. ) I know. ( and she does, but she doesn’t always have control over what happens. like when all of hammer’s drones exploded. idiot. ) I do, ( sometimes. ) but there’s only so much they can do. ( but that’s neither here nor there. ) No more work talk. ( she turns in his arms until she’s able to lay her head on his chest. ) …think I might take that nap…

[ As Pepper settles into him, Jim tucks her nice and comfortable against his body. Her voice is getting softer, her breathing much calmer, and he likes to think it's a much more welcome change from the woman who'd been texting him frantically only minutes ago.

Jim supposes he could get back to sleep, too. It wouldn't hurt. But he makes sure to set an alarm on his phone with one hand, just to be sure Pepper'll be up at a time she won't beat herself up for. ]

Sweet dreams. [ He kisses her temple. ] Silly girl.
