They've been having magical brown-outs, so she's been tapped for power at times. About a week ago she needed to heal a friend. If she found Stephen he could have helped. Also, her world is at war and even among her people there's a faction trying to assassinate the royalty. There are plenty of opportunities for Stephen to help out OR for her to seek out his help. She's originally a New Yorker, as well, so she could stumble upon the sanctum somehow. ]
