Do you have any threads you still want to continue, long after the meme has fallen off the front page? Or maybe you're just tired of losing track of all those good threads you meant to continue?

Then this is the meme for you!

This is the meme to park threads you don't want to lose track of. It's much easier to keep track of threads in one meme then many of them, after all.

[The Doctor scurries about the kitchen, getting everything ready and tucking it away into a picnic basket. He's called in off work today in order to show Yuri the world the way it should be. A nice picnic in the park is a good start.]

[Yuri still can't believe his luck. When he woke up this morning, there'd been a panicked moment when he thought he must have fallen asleep in his old master's bed, and had practically leaped out of it in his haste to get out of where he wasn't allowed to be.

Now he watches the Doctor from a chair at the table, wanting to be helpful but unable to do much other than get in the way if he tries. ]

[He smiles fondly at his new companion, starting to make sandwiches.] Ham and cheese or another peanut butter sandwich?

Peanut butter, please. [He hasn't had too many sweet things in his life, so it's going to be a good while before he stops being enamored with anything the slightest bit sugary.]

Where are we going?

Banana and jam again? [He pulls out the peanut butter and a butter knife.]

I thought I'd take you to the lake. What do you think?

I liked that, yeah. [Better not tell him some people do peanut butter and honey - he doesn't seem big on the idea of only having one other filling besides the peanut butter.]

Dunno, never been. A lake sounds nice, though.

[He smiles slightly and starts to cut up the banana into small slices.]

It is nice. I thought it would be good for you to get outside. You're a bit peaky.

Peaky?

[He gets up to come stand by the Doctor and sneak one of those banana slices.]

What's that mean?

[He grins at him.] Pale. You need a little sun. Your...previous owner didn't let you outside much, did he?

[Yuri shakes his head.] He said he didn't want me wandering off while he was out, and when he was home I was supposed to be around in case he wanted me.

[And...there, just going to steal some more banana. He likes bananas.]

[He doesn't mind, giving him a little smile.] Right, well I'm changing that. If you ever want to go out somewhere, just tell me.

Dunno where I'd go. [ He grins and ducks his head a little, thrilled at the thought.] But thank you. Maybe you can show me some places.

Course I will. Wherever you want to go. The lake for now though, yes?

[Yuri's grin grows.] For now, yeah. [Just trying out the idea that he can go places now, even if he sort of doubts the Doctor will always have time to take him outside.]

[He looks over what he's packed a few more times.] Good enough. Let's go. [He grins at Yuri and ruffles his hair before heading to the front door.]

[Never going to have neat hair. Never ever.

Yuri falls in step a little behind and to one side of the Doctor, eager but naturally inclined to follow. Something makes his brow furrow, though, as they get ready to step outside.]

...Aren't you going to use a leash?

[He looks at him in some surprise, shaking his head.] If you wanted to run off, I wouldn't stop you. Not much point in a leash.

[Yuri only looks more worried, and speaks quickly.] I don't want to run off. I just thought....

[He shrugs uncomfortably, not sure what he thought.]

I don't want to put you on a leash, Yuri. But if that would make you happier...

If you don't want to...don't.

[He wants it, but his master has just told him he doesn't want it, and that's what counts more. He'll just have to be extra-careful to heel properly. Yuri offers the Doctor a weak smile.]

[He catches on after a minute.] Walk however you like. [He smiles, leading him out the door.]

[Yeah, that's not going to dissuade him from heeling - walking beside and just a little behind the Doctor. He's not so attentive as he would have been with his old master, since he's busy looking around at all the things he was too miserable to notice when he passed this way before, but then again, the Doctor's not so likely to hit him if he's caught woolgathering.]

Can we play a game when we get there?

[He smiles fondly as he watches Yuri. Hopefully that habit of heeling will dissipate with time; he doesn't want the pet to feel at all obligated to feel like he has to behave a particular way around him.]

Course we can. What game?

[Yuri blows air between his lips, thinking about it. He was taught a few games before he was shipped to his original master, but no one ever bothered to play them with him. His old master never took advantage of all the things Yuri wanted to do for or with him; only that one thing he didn't. It makes him sad thinking about it, but he tries to force the waver out of his voice when he answers.]

Word games? Like that one where you can only speak in questions.
