maybe you know how, maybe you don't. perhaps the memory is fuzzy, or perhaps it's crystal clear down to the look in your comrades' eyes. maybe it was your time; you've done all you wanted to. or maybe you weren't at all ready to go, maybe you went out kicking and screaming -- but none of it matters. you know you're dead, and the train is taking you to an afterlife. perhaps an afterlife of your choice; you might've earned that heaven. or perhaps you've earned something else entirely.

it'll be a bit of a journey, though, so you might as well take your time and talk to the other people in your coach. death knows no place: most of them are strangers, even from faraway worlds. but death knows no time either, so who knows, some of them may be people you know, even if last you knew, they were alive -- or long gone.

oh look, here comes the snack cart.

[For Marilyn, the end did not come as a surprise. She'd known that she was terminally ill since she was 13, and her health had been in steady decline for most of the years since then.

She wasn't happy about it. There was a lot more in life that she'd wanted to experience, and death hadn't come as the relief that she had once thought it would. But it wasn't a surprise, and she'd had a long time to prepare herself for this.

[Death did not please him. Evident by the way he stabbed his knife in the wooden table in front of him, goring deep gashes into the wood. From time to time a curse could be heard over his mumbling. Comparing him to an angry storm cloud would actually be rather accurate.

People warily passed by his set of seats, avoiding getting too close. Like it would matter if he stabbed them, they were all dead anyways, it was not like he could kill them all over again. That would however help with his foul mood somewhat.]

He prowls the train with restless energy, barely contained violence in every step. Kylo yearns for his lost helm, a barrier between himself and whatever he is to face when this transport reaches the final destination. The helm depersonalizes him, hides his unschooled features and completes his transformation from man to monster. From many to myth. No longer a myth. A failure. His mood shifts from anger to shame and he almost lashes out, almost begins to rend the very walls that enclose him when he sees a flash of red in one o the occupied seating compartments.

A flash of petty satisfaction chases away the shame. Then curiosity. He approaches, using height and breadth to loom.

"General." Voice softer without the rasp of the vocoder. He says the title like an accusation, not a greeting, not respect.

This wasn't somewhere Ignis knew. In fact, he had no idea how he'd ended up there. The last thing he could remember was fighting as Noctis walked away from them to end the long night once and for all. None of them had expected to survive and while Ignis held out some quiet hope that his friends had, it was no real shock when he came to realization that he was dead.

Of course, the fates were cruel even now and left him without sight to even see the end result of all their struggling.

There was no cane in his hands as he slowly made his way along the train, keen ears listening for familiar voices and hands idly skimming here and there to help orient himself. In a way, he was hoping for a familiar presence and in a way, he was glad he hadn't found one yet.

An anguished wail, ripped from her throat, so foreign to her ears that she hardly recognized it as coming from her.

A blaster, steady, pointed at her heart.

"Don't make me do this, Jyn!"

She squeezed off a shot in the instant before he did, unable to see if she'd made contact before she was overcome by a searing pain in her chest, dropping her to her knees, where she managed a few desperate huffs of breath before she fell, too, never to get up again.

At least, she'd never see the jungles of Yavin ever again. When Jyn's eyes fluttered open again and she was able to look around, she knew, somehow, that she'd never been here before. She didn't even know where here was. All she could feel was the steady rocking motion as the train or tram or whatever it was rocketed steadily toward it's final destination.

Panting, she sat up straight in her plush seat, wild-eyed as she shifted, turned, desperate to find out what's happened, why she was here, if she was alone. "Hello?", she called, cursing herself mentally for sounding so ... scared. "Is anyone here? Can anyone ... hear me? Where am I?"

Logan has been wandering for a little bit, more put off by the fact that the bar car's a long walk away than the fact that he's dead. 'Someone's always out to punch my ticket,' he once told Wade, and as hard as he fought, for as long as he did, death came for him just as it had for so many he loved.

Maybe, just maybe, he'd get to see a few of them on this interminable ride.

In the end, he finds what he's looking for, and also finds a woman at the other end of the bar. The place is curiously empty, just the two of them, so he ambles on down toward her.

"Great service in the afterlife, eh?"
