[ she hates the future. she hates it more than she hated her own time. things had been complicated since apocalypse had fallen. she had been on her own for a long time. he had thought at least erik would have understood, would have stayed on the same side - but she had been alone. she had thought about returning to caliban. what good would that do? being second favourite again? overlooked.

how she was displaced is almost a blur. she had been trying to find other mutants, once who were like her. overlooked, alone, in need of someone to value what they could do. when she had been with apocalypse she had felt important - alive. now she doesn't know what she feels. most of the time she's angry, or tired. she knows when she's in the transigen building itself, they do something to her and her abilities. maybe it's the walls, maybe the water - but she can't teleport out. otherwise she might have and taken all the kids with her. but she's also almost sure they're poisoning her, making it so she has to keep going back to them.

transigen had found her not long after she had been displaced. they offered her a job, a home. a feeling of importance. mutants were all but extinct, there was no place for her in this new world. they said if it wasn't them someone else would find her, and they would probably just lock her up - or kill her. she doesn't like dr rice. she doesn't like how he looks at her, how he talks to her. sometimes it takes all her self-control to not create a psionic blade and stab him. especially when he tries to touch her. she hates the way he says her name - elizabeth. hates the way he practically laughs when he calls her psylocke. that he treats her like she's some sort of pet. she knows he wants to take her dna and use it to create a mutant. the idea of motherhood never appealed to her. especially now.

but there is nowhere else for her to go. so she stays. maybe if she ever gets to go back to her time she can change things, somehow. but betsy isn't about to get her hopes up. she hasn't allowed herself to do that for a very long time.

out of everyone at transigen, donald is probably her favourite (not that she'd ever let him know that). half the time she doesn't even know why. half the time she wants to punch him. the rest of the time she isn't sure what she wants to do.

she's sitting in her room, 1980s music playing loudly from a record player. new music is awful. most things about the future are awful. if they asked her she wouldn't be able to think of a single thing she liked enough to want to stay for. she's crosslegged on the floor, psionic energy flowing from her hand as she makes different shapes. ]

[It's a good thing they managed to get into the warp when they did. Some of Zarkon's forces have been messing with some strange druid magic with their latest weapon, which had definitely impacted the Black Lion and thus... kind of put Voltron out of commission for a little while. Was it irreversible? Hopefully. But possibly not by healing pod--maybe. Coran and Allura were looking into that.

At least they know Shiro's safe. Safe and uninjured, and, well... tiny. He's a brave little thing, whom the rest of the Castle has left Shiro in charge of, being the one most qualified for dealing with young children. He only needs to keep him entertained and safe inside the castle, which didn't seem like too big of a task, but it's one that requires a bit of work.

After all, Hunk hadn't finished the adapters for the game system to hook into the ship yet, and he's opted to spend the rest of the day in the kitchen. Pidge disappeared to do research, and Keith? Who knows, but probably hiding because this is just weird. No matter to Lance, he can keep this kid occupied while the others figure this out.
