They were on your front door, in your yard, or on the street, confused and clearly in no position to fend for themselves; in a worst case scenario, they were bruised and battered, possibly close to death. Bleeding heart or not, you can't just be so cruel as to let them suffer. They need a place to stay, and you'll open your home to them...long enough to get back on their feet, anyway.

Speaking of feet, the shoe could be on the other one. You're worse for the wear - in a new place, possibly injured, certainly not in the best state of mind. You could not even remember how you got here or who you are to get here, for that matter. You may not want to remember. Whether willing or not so willing, you're in no position to turn down help, especially if said helper won't take no for an answer. No matter how dedicated you are to looking after yourself, there's only so much you can do in your position.

The two of you are staying together, at any rate. Only for a while, the plan is. But after said while, even though strength and confidence is returning to the injured, there's something a little different between you two. It could be the close quarters, the kindness shown, or a number of things, but quietly, softly, feelings have grown. Could more confusion and hurt spring from this? What about when it's time to go? Can the temporary resident leave as easily as they intended? You're so close now, perhaps a little while longer can't do any harm...

...until whatever it was that put them in such a perilous position in the first place comes back, and there could be "justice" for anyone who's dared to help.

(The last thing that Lance remembered was Red and Blue being hurled through this slip in space. There was a crackle of light and then- nothing.

When he came to, the last thing Lance remembered wasn't Red and Blue. It wasn't even the Garrison. It was his mother's face peering down at him as she cooked dinner when he was maybe ten or eleven. Everything else? A total blur. For a while, Lance just sat in his seat, completely dazed. The lights inside of Blue were flashing on and off, and he could hear a voice saying something. There was wet on his face, and his body hurt something awful. He didn't realize that he was making a low keening sound, a sound of pure trauma.

They had landed on some tropical planet, both Red and Blue having slammed into the squishy earth which while it was an excellent cushioning for the lions, it didn't do much to gentle the jarring felt by the Paladins. The air was tacky and muggy, but Lance was oblivious to it all save for the fact that he could see the tropical looking plants from where he was sitting. Blue was on her side, roughly twenty or thirty feet from Red.

Lance had no idea what on earth was happening. He didn't know where he was, or what-. As the shrill screaming in his head began to quiet, he could finally hear the voice on the communicator shouting his name.)

Huh...I'm- I'm here?

(He tries, his voice soft, weak, but loud enough to carry through the communicator he assumed he was using. He shifted a bit, but instantly grimaced.)

I don't...know...Um. I think- I think I need help.

(He definitely needed help. He'd hit the controls hard, his helmet cracking inward. He might've even busted a rib too, now that he was thinking about it. There was a fierce pain in his side and every time he breathed, he wanted to die a little.)

[The crack of energy had knocked them apart, splitting Voltron into the lions and scattering them. Keith struggled to keep control of Red as they tumbled about. He could hear the others yelling on the comms until the flash of light.

Then, it was just him and Lance.]

No no no no...

[Red beeped and flashed at him as he fought to stop the spinning. He was jolted as Red hit the atmosphere of a planet, and everything went black as she hit the surface.

It was a few moments before he was aware again. He groaned, his head pounding. Red was still beeping, flashing warnings at him about her condition.]

I'm here... [Somehow.] I should find Lance.

[Red brought up the screen. Blue wasn't far from them. Keith gave the console a weak pat.

He activated his helmet comm, and could hear Lance groaning.]

Lance? Hey, can you hear me? Lance!

[He was relieved when he got a response.]

Okay. I'm on my way. Don't move.

[He eased himself out of the chair and headed out. Red expressed concern about his well-being.]

I'll be alright. Just work on getting yourself back online. I won't be far.

[Keith dropped to the ground, only to end up stumbling on the spongy surface. He grumbled, pushing his way across the distance between the two Lions. He kept sinking in everytime he took a step, and he had to drag himself up on to Blue's paw.

The Lion opened the hatch on top of her head for him and climbed in.]

[It's not like him going off to do whatever he wants is anything new. Most of the time, she and Ryouga are perfectly content to let him follow his whims... within reason.

But "whatever he wants" doesn't include going surfing on the waves of a typhoon, or whatever it is he thinks he's doing.

For Heartland City, storms aren't uncommon, but typhoons of this magnitude are. It's been a while since the winds were recorded this fierce, and Rio can hear the battering of various pieces of debris against the walls of their home at regular intervals. Yuuma has been calling Ryouga non-stop since finding out Vector hadn't ever arrived at his house for whatever it is they do together nowadays -- right up until the signal vanishes. Something's happened to the tower, most likely.

She can't listen to this anymore. While her brother stares at the dead phone, Rio huffs and puts on her jacket, intending to go outside. He gives her a look like she's crazy (she is), and she reasons with him; he has to be somewhere between Yuuma's house and his, and since the Kamishiros live about equidistant from both, it shouldn't be too hard to narrow down the possibilities. Then she reasons with herself: for as much hell as he put them through, he is still also a comrade. One with his own agenda and methods, but a comrade nonetheless.

The door swings open, and she moves to step out of it. The wind is so strong she's sure she'll be struggling just to keep her balance, but -- even so, it's better than finding out he's been struck by flying debris and killed. It's their second chance, and it's his, too; she'll be damned if she's going to let one act of stupidity on his part ruin that.]

[ Bucky is fine. The serum will take care of the broken ribs he can feel grinding in his side, and the fact that he can feel the blood dripping down his face. Eventually, the serum - whatever it is - will take care of all of it. What he worries about is the young woman in front of him. ]

Stop moving.
