Hot springs are considered rejuvenating in many cultures, from Asia to Europe. All that natural heat and the minerals from the earth flow through water and call throngs of people to come and enjoy the resorts that pop up around these wonders of the world. You, however, would never go to one. You're insecure about baring it all in public; maybe you don't even go out in public because your appearance would make the uncaring crowd lash out at you. Maybe it's just not your scene. You could not know anything about hot springs!

But you're at one now, no matter what, and you're going to be taking a skinny dip - or near it - whether you like it or not. To make matters worse, you're sharing your little pool with someone else. Hey, you don't know them! This place could not even be in your world or your time.

There's little options otherwise, though, so you might as well enjoy the time you're here. Soak and relax, let those tired muscles get a break. Soon, all your troubles, your worries, your ailments, your imperfections all begin to fade away...as do your misconceptions. You know this person, don't you? Yes, you do. Actually you know them very well. You're with them. You came with them, it seems to you, to reconnect, a lover's getaway. After all, what's more steamy than a hot springs?

So go ahead, do what you've intended to do. No one will mind if you get a little frisky in the springs if it helps out your relationship; besides, what do you think some of the extra natural minerals are for? They'll certainly help you get hot under the collar, not that you'll need that. Your (new) mutual history should be enough.

[Are you interested in crosscanon? Gaius is a military academy student in his canon, but I'm canon familiar with MHA and can easily AU him into being a classmate if that's something you're interested in.]

[Excellent! Aside from Gaius' powers definitely being wind related because that's all he ever talks about, is there any way you want to play this? He's a pretty friendly and reliable guy, so I'm open to making this as serious or steamy as you're up for.]

[Wind-related powers sound perfect for such an au. I'm pretty open to playing it a steamy side as long as it makes sense.]

[Alright! I'm thinking maybe there could be a cross-class field excursion going on, and whoops no one's really used some of these mountain hot springs? I'm more than happy to write the starter, too! Just wanted to hear if there's anything you wanted to include so that it's fun for you, too, before I started.]

[I think thatd be a fun idea, actually if Gaius would be cool with it there could be a little playful teasing from Tokoyami's Shadow (it's a semi sentient shadow power attached to him), but all of that sounds great! Sorry for getting back to this so late btw, headache flared.]

[If someone were to look at a photo of class 1B and pick out someone who they thought stood out, they might pick Gaius Worzel. With a tattoo on his arm in an ancient script, tan skin that hinted to his nature as a foreign exchange student, and an impressive height and build, everyone seems to notice him wherever he goes. For everyone in the academy outside of his clas, however, they’d be hard-pressed to remember his name. He’s friendly and reliable enough, sure, but he’s quiet and tends to take a supporting role.

Aliased ‘Hawk’ after the birds of prey that were commonplace in his homeland, he’d come to learn and hoped to return and be the first hero to protect his family and the small villages. His quirk, Falco, allows him control over the wind, and he’s almost always using it to sense the world around him, reading the environment. It’s powerful—he might have made it into class 1A if he hadn’t been so shocked by the culture of the world outside of his small city.

It’s that same quirk that alerts him to Fumikage’s presence. He’d just settled into one of the hot springs himself, and he’d picked somewhere high in the mountains where he thought he might be alone. None of the other students had come up this high, but the view was breathtaking, almost reminding him of the view from home. There are other reasons why no one comes up this high, but, well, what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him yet.]

Good Evening. [Gaius lifted an arm in greeting, already relaxing in the warm waters. Everyone was sore from training and sparring, and he was no exception. He’s only spoken to Fumikage on two or three occasions, always short exchanges, but he can’t say he dislikes the other student. He wishes he could get to know him better, so why not now?] They don’t have hot springs where I come from. I’m never going to forget how this feels. Are you going to join me?

[ooc; I’m down for literally anything, I think Fumikage is super cute so I’m really excited to see someone play him. I hope this set-up works? If you’re interested, I can also play Gaius with wings, since that sort of imagery shows up in one of his special moves. If you’re interested in bird bros.]

[Despite his animal appearance, Tokoyami rarely ventured into the wild. The mountains made an impressive sight, even from where the springs were situated he could get a good suggestion of the sheer height and power. The vista wasn't one he could get from the city, dusted with snow and bearing trees that looked crystalline. Beautiful, yes, but even among beauty like this he appeared more wary than usual when he arrived. Given his last venture into the woods, such caution might be necessary.

But not too much caution. He supposed everyone came with the purpose to relax. He can do that, relax. He was already worn down from his own round of training, it wouldn't take much for him to ease into these springs. It couldn't be that he had anything to worry about at the moment.

Of course, when he sees someone else in the spring, he feels more hesitant. Gaius 'Hawk', the newer student. He saw him around, a sociable and reliable student. Not to mention his skills with the wind was without compare, it made the hero of darkness wonder how he did not enter the class of 1-A. He harbors no ill will, he just lacked the chance to know him.]

Ah Hawk, evening.

[Despite his awkward feelings of being caught off guard, he did his best at looking stiff and steadfast. He spied a brief look at the tattoo on the hero's shoulder. He would be more self-aware of his own choker if more students were around. ]

I rarely visit the springs myself. [He sits at the pool's edge, still hesitant.]

Join you...I'm wondering why you don't feel disrupted by my sudden appearance.

[His wings stretch behind him slightly as he shifts positions in the bath, leaning closer to inspect his company. With the sun setting, it’s a little harder to see. He should’ve set up his lantern before getting into the bath, he thinks. His feathers cut through the water effortlessly, long and breathtaking, a mixture of dark brown feathers near his shoulders that cascade into creamier colors on the interior of his wings.]

Haha. I’m sorry, it’s a little difficult to turn off my quirk when I’m this high up. The wind told me someone was approaching. You didn’t feel like an enemy, so I thought I could relax.

[He offers an apologetic smile. He feels guilty for using his powers on someone without meaning to. He has no doubts that Tokoyami is more than skilled enough to hide his presence from him if he needed to, he’s heard of some of his exploits. As it is now, though, they’re just here to relax right? And the water feels so warm, even warming the tops of his wings and his arms, and they’re not even in the water yet.]

Would you be more comfortable if I moved elsewhere? I don’t mind company myself, but if you’ve come this far up, you must want to relax, too.

[And he doesn’t want to make him uncomfortable. That’s what he’s saying.]

[He almost spoke again before Gaius lets his wings spread out, showing off their amazing beauty. They had a grace in the way they moved and mixed mottled colors. Tokoyami felt a small twinge of envy as a fairly avian person who lacked any wings.

He nodded quickly to shake off any suspicion that he might have looked at them too long.]

--no, that is understandable. The wind must be a powerful ally, to hear its secrets must be a privilege.

[The new guy behaved remorseful enough, with a positive enough attitude. Tokoyami felt more self away of his attitude and behavior. The wind hero was right, he wanted to relax. It wouldn't be fair for either of them to move away.]

It's not you, Hawk. I do need to relax, my mind is the knife edge between dusk and dawn. The water may help.

[As he spoke, something shark-like chopped through the water before popping up with a dark bird-like head. The misty air was shady enough for Shadow to come out, he supposed...]

The water's nice and hot!

[Tokoyami made a startled noise, splashing the water towards his Shadow.]

[He’d never consider himself beautiful—he’s too humble for that—but he’s thankful to have been born into a body with wings. He’s the first in his family to have wings with his quirk, so growing up with them was a little challenging, but now they were long, well-groomed, and just as striking as the rest of his features. Some people considered Gaius to have a wild, feral look about him, but listening to him speak he doesn’t quite fit that image.]

Haha. It really is. It’s not something that’s easy to explain to others, but it does feel like I’m never really alone.

[This is his first time hearing Tokoyami really speak outside of brief encounters in passing, and it brings a small smile to his face. There’s something almost archaic and noble about the way he talks that he finds not amusing but something he can appreciate.]

Then by all means, join me. It’ll just be the two of us, so—

[He’s interrupted by their third, the shadow—Gaius doesn’t startle, but a shadow’s movements isn’t something he can predict with the wind.]

This is your quirk, isn’t it? It’s...nice to meet you.

[But polite as he is, even Gaius can’t help but look surprised, and his wings fold slightly behind his back so they’re less vulnerable, shaking some of the water off of the top of his wings.]

[He would have been emnerassed to profess an admiration for such wings out loud, but the feeling stayed with him. His wings were truly admirable, even if he took that opinion with himself forever it would be true.

He makes a furrowed glare at Shadow. His quirk, who enjoys trawling in the pool and soaking up, retracts just as fast.]

I have an idea what it's like to never be alone.

[Its both a boon and a curse. The hero of darkness returns to crossing his arms, slightly emberassed by his quirk's intrusion. But somehow Shadow makes a joyous wave and grin to Gaius.]

Hi! Pleasure's mine!

...it is. Shadow can be controlled but, it still has its own mind.

[He wouldn’t be the first. There are some amazing bodies out there in the hero world, some more drastic than others, but wings still seem to be somewhat of a rarity. It’s also ironic—his family raises falcons, but that’s besides the point.

Gaius only chuckles as the shadow retreats, leaning forward in the hot springs as he does.]

I can certainly see that. And I have to insist on the pleasure being mine.

[His eyes fall on Tokoyami next. He’s watching him pretty intently, though his aim isn’t just to stare or be intimidating. He’s actually found himself quite fond of the other hero’s head and feathers, though he’d never say much himself. It doesn’t feel like his place to say that he’s wonder what it’s like to have a beak before.

But it does leave him still wanting to invite him in, unaware of the effect the water could have on the two—the three of them once they’re all in.]

I think there’s room enough for the three of us here. I’ve been hoping we could meet, actually.

[Despite Tokoyami discouraging Shadow's playfulness, the quirk behaves close to how Tokoyami would act if he had no inhibitions. A shadowy hand springs from Tokoyami, giving a coy wave.

The hero with the bird mutation clears his throat as though to excuse Shadow. As he glances to Gaius again, there's no ignoring the good amount of looks he's getting. Tokoyami leans back, maintaining an awkward composure as he tries shaking off the attention he's getting.

At least until Gaius speaks to him again.]

...you have.

[It's like saying that gains his interest and burns the last rope holding him back. Tokoyami slowly brings his legs into the water.]

Other than my face, I never thought of myself as a student of interest.

[Gaius waves back, taking the shadow’s appearance as well as he can. It’s an interesting Quirk. He has no idea just how exactly it works, he can’t sense anything off of it, but it seems to be harmless at the moment.

He does have to wonder if Tokoyami’s reluctance to get into the water has anything to do with him. He can’t speak for the other hero’s state of dress, but beneath the hot spring waters he’s not wearing anything himself. The steam and the setting sun do a good enough job of hiding that, but even then it’s not as if they’re about to start rubbing each other’s backs and making things awkward.]

I’m not making you uncomfortable, am I?

[It’s an honest, apologetic question. He wants Tokoyami to be comfortable, same for his shadow. He might be coming into the water now, but...he really knows next to nothing about him.]

I think everyone here is interesting. Back home, there’s no school like this. [He rubs the back of his neck, his wings unfolding again.] Besides, I’ve...always felt like we might get along, if only because of how we look. Does that sound shallow?

[An interesting quirk and a powerful one, but one that came with its weaknesses and often its own drawbacks. He wonders if there were times Gaius felt that way with the wind.

Tokoyami knows it was common to wear nothing on these excursions, but he chooses to bring a towel out of a sense of decency and well, apprehension in case he needed to leave the springs suddenly.

He props himself by his arms. Again, Gaius shows himself as a fair and understanding person. Tokoyami wouldn't be fair if he wasn't honest.]

It's these new situations that cause my discomfort...I'm better than I was minutes ago.

I'm good!

[Of course Shadow would be okay. He scoots himself closer, unconsciously drawn to those wings. Gaius finds ways to ease him just by talking.]

You mean they don't train people with quirks where you come from? That's a waste. [He smiles nonetheless.]

Just by the way you talk, I find it hard to not find you interesting.

[Interesting doesn't sound too odd, he hopes.]

[The wind is almost always a comforting presence to him—but there are times when it becomes muddled and disorienting. The winds of each place are also different. It’s not been an easy ability to master, and he’s still working on it even now.

If he has to offer an explanation for his own state of undress, he at least has the benefit of being unused to the culture. When he bathes in the river back home, he certainly doesn’t feel a need to wear underwear. He might already be feeling like he’s done something wrong, he’ll just...try not to draw attention to it.]

I’m glad to hear it. I admit, this is a new situation for me, too.

[He chuckles again at the shadow. Of course, the shadow would be okay, and he’s comfortable with either of them moving as close to him as they feel.]

We have quirks where I’m from, too, but most training is done inside the home after school is over.

[He smiles a little.]

I can’t answer for whether or not I’m exciting or interesting myself, but you’re already proving to be entertaining. I never knew your quirk had such a personality to it.

[Shadow felt like that: a strong ally but one that could bring great struggle within himself. It's that part of himself and Shadow that he didn't share with others.

He had been in dressing rooms and baths before, but considering he was getting to know this persona and started to like him? Made him aware of their own separate states of dress, not that he would call attention to it. Tokoyami felt awkward talking about such things with people.]

You're home-schooled...that brings mixed results. But if you can excel in 1-A at U.A., it must have advantages.

[He can't help keep himself from sharing a smile with Gaius' chuckle, his legs waving back and forth in the water as he grows less rigid. The classmate knew how to flatter him, even if he wasn't aware of it.]

I can't imagine a time I was without Shadow. But it always seemed to be a strong companion, no matter how different we are.

[Shadow slips back out to grin at his owner as Tokoyami shrugs at the quirk.]

You are the same. Our powers are forged from different elements, but you understand me well enough. You have a comfortable personality, Hawk.

[ooc; trying to work in some of the mind altering aspect here, please let me know if this is too fast!]

[Gaius was doing his best to not to draw attention to his own nakedness, and he’d even lowered one of his arms into the water to help cover himself up. He’s feeling more embarrassed about. He should have asked more about hot springs etiquette before getting in, but it’s a bit too late to be reaching for a towel.]

I went to a normal school for my studies a few times a week, but other than that I relied on my dad to teach me. We have different quirks so it wasn’t always easy, but I like to think I turned out alright.

[He’s glad Tokoyami seems more and more comfortable the longer they go on. And why shouldn’t he be? They’d been friendly for a while. Sitting there in the warm water, he could remember how often they’d talked since meeting. Shared meals in the cafeteria, the odd texts here and there. Or was it more than that?

He shook his head, feeling a little lightheaded from the steam for a moment.]

I’m glad you think so, Tokoyami. [Because he’s...always referred to him by name, right? Not by hero name? They were closer than that. Something feels a little off, but nothing is really alarming him, either.] I’m pretty comfortable with you as well, and I even wouldn’t mind befriending your Shadow someday.

Your father was a diligent teacher if you can use your quirk so naturally.

[Gaius is a decent guy, real friendly. He wondered why he had such a misgiving about him earlier. They way he could talk to him on such a friend-to-friend way, it felt natural for some reason.]

That's what I mean, you have a way of lowering defenses. It's as natural as the winds you command.

[Why shouldn't he feel right talking with him? Though the air was warm with the steam of the hot springs below, just being around Gaius made him start loosening up. He couldn't resist smiling more, casting him friendly glances.]

Why not start now?

[Shadow must have tapped into that loose pot of feelings because the quirk slipped from him again, making a surprising splash into the water. The quirk had a surprising mass compared to its shadowy substance. It shuddered, slipping through the water as Tokoyami shook his head. Shadow was miles ahead of where the hero of darkness wanted to be.]

Ooh the water's real fine, it's a big pool party!

[Tokoyami checks around the pool, as though to make sure they were the only ones here.]

...if Shadow has dove into the pit, then it's natural I follow along.

[He had an internal moment of nervousness as he quickly maneuvered himself into the pool and out of his towel, just quick enough for his own modesty. A surprise hit his bare skin as he met with the hot water, winning a slight hiss before he began to acclimate.]

Ah...pleasantly hellish.
