The list of things Peter has cut a lecture to attend to is longer than the national census at this point. Bank robberies, lizard monsters - you name it, Peter's taken care of it. But...the Hulk, falling out of the sky and landing in the middle of Queens' dock district, crashing through a row of (blessedly) abandoned warehouses is more than a little unprecedented. Peter had donned the suit and taken off after him as fast as superhumanly possible, without a concrete plan as to what he was going to do when he got there. How much webbing would it take to at least delay the Hulk?

Lucky for Peter, when he gets there, the green guy is nowhere to be seen. Just an unfortunately naked senior scientist whom Peter would recognize anywhere. Bruce Banner's gamma radiation dissertations were akin to Peter's bible (especially after the debatably-radioactive spiderbite). If they sold posters of the guy, Peter would have owned at least three by now.

"...uh. Alright. Gotta admit, I didn't see that one coming." He dared to crawl a little bit closer, seeing as it didn't seem like Bruce was awake. Breathing fine, and his heart was chugging along, so that was good but - oh. Oh no. Peter scrambled closer when he saw the first trickle of blood, assessing the damage. Collapsed steel girders, a not-insubstantial amount of rubble - Peter's just hoping the guy got clipped, not impaled.

It was a long time before Hawke came home, and when she did, the only reason she didn't slam the door was because she was too damned tired. Her anger hadn't lessened a whit, and wearing herself out looking for trouble (which she found, because there was always trouble to find in Kirkwall) had only made her exhausted and furious, not less furious. It'd built up for days. It would take more than a few street brawls to burn it out.

I told you I would break your heart. Just know it breaks mine to do it.

She snarled to herself just thinking of it, of all the events of the past few days. She'd tried to trust Anders. She had, she'd wanted to, even though he was one of the worst liars she'd ever met and it was blatantly obvious he was hiding something from her. And when called on it, he admitted it. Apologized even, in part.

Amazing, how little that apology helped.

She leaned against the wall and closed her eyes. Her head ached. All of her ached, including her heart, though she was trying not to think of that part. She needed sleep, and she knew it. There hadn't been much of it for the past few nights. She had no idea if Anders was home. He usually wasn't, these past few months.

Right now she didn't even know if she wanted him home or not.

Hawke walked up the stairs, slowly removing her armor as she went.
