JEALOUSY

 

Everyone feels jealous at one point or another, whether it's justified or not. What's important is how we deal with it... do we discuss it, fight about it, or plan epic revenge to carry out?

1 → wandering eye.

You think your lover has been looking at other's a little too often or flirting too much in your company. You can't keep quiet any longer about it.

 

2 → simple life

Your friend, family, or lover has always had it so much easier and you can't help but feel a little put off.

 

3 → don't you forget about me

Your friend or lover has found someone new they want to spend almost all their time with and you can't help but feel a little cheated.

 

4 → cheated

Forget just a sneaking suspicion. You've caught your lover in the act of cheating and it's driving you nuts. You have to confront them about it.

 

5 → for the glory

You did all the work, or at least you feel like you did, so why do they always get all the praise?

 

6 → moved on

You broke up or had a falling out with someone close to you and it's killing you to see how they've seemed to let go and you're stuck standing in place.

 

7 → because i want you

You're jealous of any attention they get because you're secretly in love with them. Time to make it known!

 

8 → always the favourite

Everyone always praises them or they were clearly the favourite child or just more popular with friends. You can't help but hate it.

 

9 → more experience

they're more experienced, either in the bedroom or in the office. Any activity, they outshine you. Who wouldn't feel a little inferior?

I think so.

[He pulls the wine deftly from her fingers and drops it in his basket, then heads to the front of the store. Oh, God, let this not be too awkward.]

[It can't get a lot worse, right?

She lets him pay for the groceries and reaches over to take his hand as they start out to the car. It's an attempt at easing some of the awkwardness between them.]

[His fingers tangle with hers, awkwardly at first, then more naturally as he gets used to the idea of it.

The ride home is still awkward, but not as awkward, and he leads her up to his flat. It's small, mostly filled with books, not a lot of knick-knacks.]

Have a seat; I'll pour the wine.

[Books are good. She likes books.]

Here I thought I'd learn new things 'bout you seein' your flat. [She's teasing, fingers running over a stack of books on the end table next to the couch she sits down on.]

[Returning with the wine, he looks around, then colors faintly. He ... yeah, he has a problem.]

It's not new information that I like books, really, is it.

I've seen you in the library. [It's a good thing, all the books and the colouring is as well. It makes her smile, easing the feeling of awkward for her at least momentarily.]

Books are--[She presses her lips together, pausing to rephrase was she was about to say so that it doesn't include the Doctor said] Best weapons in the universe, books are.

Knowledge is power, isn't that the phrase?

[He gives her a glass, then settles on the other end of the couch with his own.]

Though maybe you've learned something from the books I have?

[She turns on the couch, pulling a leg up so she can face him then takes a sip of the wine.]

You were ready to believe in the TARDIS long 'fore I ever let you inside.

[He looks a little embarrassed, shrugs.]

Doesn't everyone want to believe in something like that?

[iwasherefirst]

[She smirks at him, the corner of her mouth twisting up.] Mosta London still doesn't believe in aliens.

[He stares.]

I don't believe that. That's like ... I can't even imagine what that's similar to. It's a staggeringly high level of ignorance.

[iwasherefirst]

[Rose laughs a bit] Somethin' to do with humans in mass quantities. Individually, we can be brilliant. Put us in a population and we'd rather deny it all than admit there's things out there we can't explain. There's always some people o' course.

[aperfectthird]

Some people who'll never admit it, no matter what?

[iwasherefirst]

Yeah, s'xactly. Seen a space ship crash into Big Ben, people said it was a publicity stunt. Dunno what for though. Never did figger that bit out.

[She takes a healthy swig of her wine.]

[aperfectthird]

Construction companies?

[He does the same. Maybe wine will take the edge off the evening, make them more like friends and less like strangers.]

[Wine can only help the situation tonight anyway. Tomorrow is another story. She laughs a little at that and nods.]

Didn't think of that, but yeah. S'pose they'd benefit from that. [She swirls the wine in her glass a moment. She knows she's a light weight. She doesn't drink often]

Have you lived here very long?

In London or in this flat?

[He looks around.]

I've been in London for about four years; I came here right after uni. I moved to this flat ... let me think, nine months ago.

[iwasherefirst]

Looks lived in though. [She says this as she glances around the flat.]

Meant that in a good way. It's comfortable, cosy and possibly resembles a bookstore. [The last is said with a mischievous glint in her eye.]

[He ducks his head, embarrassed, but his lips twist slightly into a smile.]

It was quite a job moving all of those from my last place. I paid my brothers with a lot of beer.

[iwasherefirst]

[Rose grins at that.]

Quite the pro at plyin' people with alcohol, yeah? [She winks as she takes a nice, big swallow of her wine.] Guess you're lucky they could be paid off in beer.

[aperfectthird]

[He scowls at her, but there's a smile.]

It sounds so sordid when you phrase it like that.

[iwasherefirst]

S'meant to sound that way. [She's going to waggle her eyebrows at him.]

[aperfectthird]

I'll have you know I've never done anything sordid in my life.

[iwasherefirst]

[She takes another swig of the wine. It is making her bold.]

That, Mr. Weasley, is a shame.

[aperfectthird]

[He takes a few hearty swigs himself, then reaches for the wine and tops his glass off.]

I've never had many opportunities.
