the monster & the maiden fair meme There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life. But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor? They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?" how to play Comment with your character, your preference, and what role they'll play. Feel free to AU characters to your desire role. Reply to others. Thread anything that could remotely fit under the umbrella theme. Was the kidnapping just that, or did both parties know (and care) for each other before, making it a collaborative, mutual effort? Perhaps you'd prefer to play the actual Beauty and The Beast-style getting to know each other or seeing behind the grizzly facade. What about an attempted "rescue?" Or maybe you could thread out a scene where the prisoner runs away from the society they were forced back into and returns to their beloved beast! It's all up to you. You could even do smut if you wanted to, but this isn't a smut meme.

One minute, Theresa Rubel--Trouble--had been been trying to evade a group of thugs who had followed her down a dark alley. The next minute, he was there, leaping from the shadows like some leonine avenger. At first, she'd thought he was a wesen like the creatures in the old, old versions of the Grimms' tales--creatures who could shift at will between human and animal form--but eventually she'd come to realize that he was always like that. If he was some kind of wesen, he was unable to retract the transformation: always trapped in full woge. If he wasn't, we'll, then she wasn't any more sure than Vincent, how to explain why he was the way he was.

But she wasn't sure it mattered. Because the longer she knew him, the more she realized that it wasn't his appearance that mattered so much as what was in his heart. And that? Was just as big as everything else about him.

Vincent looked after her much like he had Catherine. It seemed anytime she was met with any sort of danger she had a rescuer in Vincent. Sure he never really understood why he looked like he did, but he felt safe in the world below. Only when she seemed to need him did he venture above.

He was just a gentle giant outside of anyone trying to harm those he had come to care for. He was a doting father on an all too human looking child, something he was actually glad for. That his son was spared from the appearance he had to endure, what caused him to hide in a world that excepted him. Tonight he was leading her deeper than he had ever before underground, bringing her fully to his world.

Growing up in foster homes, and later striking out actoss the country alone, Trubel was used to looking after herself, and she was pretty good at it. She tried not to need him too often, but like her nickname suggested, trouble seemed to follow her. It was nice to know that if she was ever outnumbered, Vincent would be there. Even if that feeling of belonging again had taken some getting used to.

As Vincent led her through the maze of tunnels and chambers beneath the city, Trubel watched his broad form moving gracefully ahead of her, and wondered what might wait in this mysterious underground world of his. Were there others like him? What would they think of her, and the darkness in her past? Would they welcome her the way that he did?

"It's been a long time since anyone has brought me home to meet their family," she said softly, hoping that if she whispered, it would hide the nervousness in her voice. Never mind that Vincent could probably hear the way her heart was fluttering in her chest and in her throat. "I hope I make a good impression."
