1. Let's just get through today - it's a special occasion! Whether it's a birthday, Christmas or some other celebration, it's a big day and there's a lot going on. Control the sugar rush and avoid tears before bedtime, and you might just survive it.
2. What did you do!? - The dreaded call from the school has come, and now you've got to march down there and find out what your wayward child is up to today
3. Sick Day - Nobody's going anywhere today, call into work and notify the school, because your child is ILL.
4. Big shoes to fill - This is not your child. They're your little brother, your niece, your best friend's son, their real parents are gone and you're the only one who can step in.
5. Other - Got another idea? Fill your boots! No, not with that, oh god, who's going to clean this up?

Parent and Parent

1. Playdate - Oh my gosh you'll love my friend, he has a kid too! It's a blind date based solely on being parents, and your kids are there as well. Oh this should be fun.
2. Field Trip - You're both chaperoning for the school field trip, I hope you get on well together because that's one long bus journey.
3. Support Group - It's a lonely, difficult road, so it's nice to have somebody to talk to that understands that your sweet, adorable child gets less sweet and adorable after the fourth screaming fit.

Nothing was more important to Jack than his legacy, than making a name for himself that would live on in history. He'd always assumed that he'd never have children to carry it, not legitimate ones anyway, but unbeknownst to a lot of people, he had been married, briefly.
It wasn't until after he'd been away at sea for several years that he received a letter advising that his wife had given birth to a son. His son.

He visited when he could, bringing home what money he'd managed to gather, but there was no work to be had at home and he kept needing to go further and further afield. By the time he received word that his wife had died and his son had subsequently disappeared, he was so far away that the trail had long gone cold when he returned.

Until now, quite by chance, he was in London and there, strolling along the streets - older but still unmistakable - his son.

Silas comes in d&d/fantasy or in modern day varieties (both mundane or urban fantasy). basically, he can fit into any other character's universe pretty easily - i'm flexible.

'child' can also be a relative term, if you'd like - he could be a caretaker of sorts to someone closer to his age. Silas is around his late 30s/early 40s. he's an ex-con who has transformed himself in the wake of what he used to be, and he's basically a pretty chill guy now. usually a carpenter, always a goddamn tree hugger, does yoga in modern day when no one's looking hey listen Wolverine does yoga too it's canon, okay, so let him live.
