All I know
![]() an amnesiac shipping meme You have no idea who you are. One day, you just woke up from the darkness, confused and alone. You barely remember your own name, much less why you're here...or where here is, even. Your own body is strange to you, and if you have some kind of power or ability, that must be frightening. Perhaps you're angry at everything so new and different, lost in this strange world you don't understand or know your own place in. Maybe you feel the need to hide away, lest you be crushed by everyone out there who is sure to hurt you. You are so, so alone. Only you're not. There is one person, one person who's found you and taken you in. They've shown you kindness, looking after you while you can barely look out for yourself. Out of the goodness of their heart, they've shown you things, taught you things. Most importantly, they're giving you a new sense of identity. And for that, you've begun to appreciate them. More than words can say, actually. You care for them so deeply that your heart hurts around them. Is that normal? What is this feeling? You can't imagine life without them, and leaving them- That's something you could never consider. Is this lov... The word's on the tip of your tongue, but you can't figure it out, exactly. What you can figure out is that you want to give everything you can to the person who's done so much for them. You want to stay by their side and make them happy. You want to protect them at all costs. So no one would blame you for getting confused when you see them with someone else or getting angry when you believe they're in danger. And certainly it's only natural for you to get frustrated when you want to tell them what you think of them, what they mean to you, and you can't figure out what to do. Perhaps following instincts will do? One thing you know is that this bond and these emotions will never go away, not even when you learn who you are. RULES - This meme is for examining what happens when someone with no memories, potentially someone with powers or skills that could be dangerous at the very least, develops deep feelings for the person who's taken them in or is helping them realize their past. It can be played as awkward, adventurous, tragic, cracky, fluffy, truly romantic, or anything in between. You can play at the beginning, the part where emotions have strongly developed, or even when the amnesiac has regained their memories and must now deal with new feelings. - Reply with your character and preferences. Mention if you'd like to play the amnesiac, the caretaker/help, or both. - The role of caretaker does not have to always be beneficial. Maybe they caused this condition in the first place so the other character would be dependent, loving, and loyal towards them. - Reply to others and play. |

Who was Shiro to him, anyway?
It seemed like the other two had finally gotten Lance settled down -- The banging on his door and muffled yelling had stopped. Keith, seated on his poor excuse for a table, had stayed focused on the prone figure laying on his futon.]
Shiro...
[He hadn't looked good. From the sallow tone of his skin, Keith guessed he'd knocked out -- drugged, specifically -- and given how he hadn't stirred during Lance's...tantrum, it would probably take the drugs flushing out of his system for him to recover.
He should have some water ready for when Shiro woke up.
Keith shuffled to the corner of the room where he kept his food. It was little more than a couple shelves of non-perishables, some simple dishware, and two 5 gallon jugs of drinking water (One was empty -- Keith hadn't been able to trade it in for a new one yet). Enough to get by, and Keith wasn't particularly picky. He pulled a plastic cup from one of the shelves, noting how strange the familiar motions of grabbing a cup and bending down to fill it with water from the hand-pump felt given the circumstances.
He'd known things would be somehow different, after tonight, whatever waited for him in that "arrival." A point of no return of sorts. But much as he'd felt his friend wasn't dead, he'd never expected to find Shiro at the end of it.
And he didn't quite know how to feel about what that meant...whatever it meant.]

His arm hurts. His back doesn't. There's something soft under it and that strikes his subconscious as unusual. Different.
Maybe that's what pushes him the rest of the way to wakefulness. Or perhaps it's something subtler that he can't consciously detect. Whatever it is, his eyes open and instead of the harsh glare he's expecting it's... ]
What? [ The question comes out harsh, his throat as dry as his mouth. ] Where—
[ Startling upward, he spies Keith and freezes. And then just stares at him, dumbfounded and so confused. ]

He feels a slight splash over his fingers as he jerks upright, prompting the reflexive inward groan of wasted water that he's been developing over the past months. He can't bring himself to mourn too much. A glance over his shoulder confirms Shiro's awake.]
Shiro-!
[He quickly -- carefully -- sets the cup on the nearby shelf, happy to break into rushed movements once it's free of his hand. He shakes the spilt water from his fingers, absently using the hem of his shirt as a towel as he returns to his friend's side.]
Hey, you're awake, are you okay?

From her desk, she glances over at him frequently, not particularly trying to hide her concern when no one else is around to see it. Their last real encounter had been bad, to say the least, and Jessica is pretty damn worried about how things will play out when Luke wakes up. Is he going to be furious with her still? Is there even any point in trying to talk it out?
Talking isn't her forte, she sighs inwardly, while taking a swig from the whisky bottle on her desk. Whatever happens, she isn't particularly looking forward to it. Guilt still eats away at her about what she did to Luke's wife; it'll probably never stop.
Well, all she can do now is wait for him to wake up and see. Since hospitals aren't really an option for him, he's kinda stuck. ]

His mind reversed back to the last of his time at Seagate. Not a scratch on him. He walked out of the rubble from Seagate then suddenly found himself walking out of the rubble that was his bar. Then Ghengis Connie’s. Luke couldn’t make sense of the images in his mind. Everything felt real. He could smell the destruction and the godawful ringing in his ears hadn’t stopped. Out of the darkness, a face came to light. Blurry at first but eventually… ]
Jones.
[ His voice was hoarse but audible. He trembled while stirring, finally fluttering his eyes open. With them closed, he knew the face and the name. Luke couldn’t remember how. Was she a friend or an enemy? He squeezed his eyes tightly together in an effort to drown out the noise in his head from his ears. His large hands moved up and pressed a palm into each eye socket before clasping his head. ]
no subject
Yeah, it's me.
[ She wonders how angry he might be to wake up in her apartment, or if that headache's so bad that he's hardly thinking about it. There's so much regret... about how things ended between them. How she hadn't told him the truth, keeping it to herself out of shame.
She stands next to the bed, arms folded. He sounds pretty bad, which makes sense all things considered. ]
Really took a bad hit to your head. How are you feeling now?
no subject
Where are we?
[ There was something Luke felt he should recognize about his location but couldn’t at the moment. He gripped the edge of the mattress while trying to remember more than the woman’s name in the room. His gaze picked up and focused on her. She was pretty. Beautiful, really. Something sad and tragic on her features. He continued to wince, taking another look around the room. ]
What happened?
no subject
On top of that... he isn't looking at her with any sort of wariness of anger. In fact, there's really barely any recognition there at all.
Increasingly concerned, Jessica moves to stand in front of him where he sits on the edge of the bed, looking at his eyes for any signs of something being off. Maybe he got hit in the head harder than she'd even realized. ]
You're at my place. You got hurt fighting off some bad guys. Real bad guys.

[ Luke kept his eyes closed for a minute longer. Her voice seemed to silence the ringing in his ears but she didn’t talk for very long. It felt as if the loudness in his head impeded his ability to remember anything recent. A woman came to mind that he couldn’t give a name to. Pops. Bobby Fish… Reva came to mind along with the other woman. Kilgrave.
A chill suddenly ran through Luke and he opened his eyes sharply then squinted at Jessica. ]
Kilgrave?

Sorry about the wait. been sick and had no energy to tag ;_;
Unfortunately, she was a little too late. The pink streak dispelled into nothingness, and Kara followed where it struck down to a neighboring roof. There was a girl, laying on the rooftop, unconscious.
Kara knelt beside her, glancing around. There didn't seem to be any left-over danger. Whatever that was was gone, for now. She scooped the girl up and flew her to DEO headquarters, letting the team of specialists take over from there.
I understand completely - was like that earlier!
The girl groaned as she looked up at Kara before passing out once more, feeling weak, her head hurting.

Kara paced outside of the lab, not allowed in - by her mom of all people. They had to get a good analysis of who (or what) the girl was before Kara could be more exposed. She could be a danger, or an enemy, someone sent to hurt Kara, and the DEO couldn't risk their asset.
And I can't risk my sister, Alex had explained, touching Kara's shoulder. Still, the incident had been so odd, and it always bothered Kara when someone was in the medbay. It meant she hadn't gotten there fast enough, hadn't kept all the danger away.
Hours later, she was finally let in, and she practically flew to the girl's beside where her eyes were already fluttering open. Thank Rao.

What Jack didn't expect was to find him lying bloodied and unconscious after a massive attack on the city.
His first instinct was to report him over to SHIELD, but he hesitated on that plan when Loki woke up and seemed confused about who and where he was. Would turning someone in, even someone like Loki, be right while in this state?
Jack, being extremely new to this 'hero' business, decides to make the call that feel right in his heart. That is, he chooses to take the confused god back to his tiny New York City apartment to help clean him up and give him a place to rest and recover.
What'll he do if he doesn't regain his memories soon? Jack has no plan at the moment other than making sure he's safe. ]
How about now? Do you remember anything yet? [ He asks while preparing something to eat in the kitchen area. ]
no subject
For the moment he was just laid out on the couch, frowning at the ceiling like it was personally responsible for all of his woes. He wasn't in any state to go anywhere, no matter the little niggling urge in the back of his mind to go, to move. Without any idea where he was going to, injured as he was? He didn't need his memories to know that was a terrible idea.]
Nothing concrete. Flashes here and there of vague things, but any time I try to focus on any of them they slip away again.
no subject
He isn't sure how he feels about the prospect of harboring Loki for that long, especially knowing that Thor will probably start missing his brother. Was it right to hide this information from a full-fledged Avenger?
If it meant keeping a confused guy out of prison, then maybe... ]
Don't worry about it too much. I'll keep you safe here until your memories come back.
no subject
But he was loathe to push the fact just yet, with how willing the other was to help him. Once he was feeling better, more like himself, he might feel more confident in making that inquiry.
Whatever 'like himself' was... that took priority at the moment to any secrets Jack might or might not be keeping.]
Thank you... I appreciate that. [That much he knew was true. He was appreciative of people helping him, even if he was uncertain of Jack's motives beyond simply being nice.]
no subject
[ He smiles over at Loki from the kitchen, although there's a slight bit of strain to the expression.
Oh, it is a problem, and potentially an enormous one. How badly would he be punished if someone found out about this?
Well... he supposes he'll have to make sure that doesn't happen, starting by getting the guy some new clothes, probably. ]
So, um. Do you like pasta? 'Cause I can't really cook too much.
no subject
He was right, something was bothering Jack, but what? Was it just nerves from the state he'd found Loki in, or sharing his space? Even the thought was discarded as not quite right, but Loki didn't know enough about the situation just yet to make any better guesses.]
I'm pretty sure pasta's fine. Sounds fine at least.
no subject
[ He laughs, a little nervous, as if expecting Loki to suddenly remember everything and attack him for no particular reason.
It's a ridiculous fear, but nonetheless...
He shakes his head, trying to rid himself of that concern as he finishes boiling the pasta. Scooping some onto two plates, he adds sauce, grabs two forks, and then brings Loki's plate over to the couch. He places it down on the coffee table, ready to eat when Loki wants. ]
Here you go.
no subject
He thought it was just general awkwardness from having someone in his home, but it was dawning on Loki that... Jack was nervous. What did he have to be nervous about, he was clearly some sort of agent, he was capable. He was nervous because of Loki, it was the only thing that made sense, and if that was the case, then what sort of person was he?
He tried not to let it worry him, but there was still a light furrow of his brow, though he smiled when Jack returned with their meal.]
I'm getting the impression that I'm not too horribly picky, luckily.
