A field of blue so thick that Noct felt nearly sure his vision was forever impaired, filtered with a tint of blue, yet in the shadow of those petals there was a splash of purple. Indigo, maybe. In the middle of the deep blue sea there was a faint light source all alone, white and pristine, the color all around illuminated with the touch of this light and Noct could swear the floral pattern around her shimmered and sparkled with her light, with her life. He was a mere speck of black, the shadow that crept beneath the softness of her petals, the darkness that reached between the tendrils of blue, violet, indigo, white.

He knew this place, but that awareness also brought the fact that he was never going to see her again. This dream could be one he had every night, but in the envelope of many other dreams he lost count, consciousness, recollection of it when he woke.

Sometimes, however, even in the dream he was confident enough that he would wake as he did whenever he did have this dream; with a gasp of air as if he’d stopped breathing. It was appropriate, coming from this dream to struggle for air because in this abyss of floral detail he felt the density of water, the pressure surrounded him and the current pushed at him in a direction that ran from that light.

Despite his strength, his determination, his will, he could never get close enough to that distant light to see her. The dream always ended the same and he could feel himself drifting above the deepness of this color and into a river of grey before darkness soon swallowed him.

This was when Noct woke, the same as he always did after this dream, fighting for breath and jerking up with his hands reaching all around him for that lifeline. Cor was his lifeline now and his closest hand to his lover’s came to grip the man’s arm as he panted and wheezed with his other hand to his chest as if that would make any bit of difference.

His friends, Cor, they thought he’d lost his crown—figuratively just as much literally—but Noct knew better. He knew the ten years of solace, he knew the Jester’s reign, he knew the darkness within his dream soon encompassed the world and daemons were rapid with liberal power that only made them stronger. He knew the light would soon only come from manmade inventions, and he knew the weakness that plagued the land with the absence of the sun. The daemons were all who flourished beneath their dense black particle clouds. Ardyn’s faithful subjects.

Noct lived this, he knew the future, and he knew he was dead alongside so many of those he loved. Yet somehow, after the sacrifice, after the purification he came back to this world ten years prior his end as if it never happened.

Even if he still looked as if he were only twenty, Noct felt those ten years still. "Co..r.." He could only find comfort in him, and just saying his name relieved so much of the weight.

More than once, Mary had wished that she had never gone to New Orleans. She should have known that Mikael wasn't really dead, that he could be released and revived. Now her life was in danger again.

When Elijah had turned up at Downton, Mary had wanted to tell him to go to hell. She cursed him for bringing evil onto her doorstep. In the end though, she had no choice; he was the only one who could protect her. If Mikael wanted her dead, he would surely find a way to do it. Mary couldn't stay and subject her family to that, so she had fled with Elijah, the two of them scattering like frightened birds.

Trying to formulate a plan while on the run was difficult. They needed safety first, so they'd gone to Edinburgh. The hotel that Elijah picked was far below either of their standards, but his hope was that his father would be searching for them at five star establishments. There was only one room left and Mary was horrified to learn that it contained one twin bed. Not only did they have to share a room, but they would have to share one very small bed.

The wound of his rejection was still fresh in her mind. Men didn't reject Mary Crawley. They didn't tell her to leave when she was in their bed wearing satin lingerie. Not only had he hurt her feelings, she had been humiliated. The last thing she wanted to do was share a bed with him.

At least the room did have a bathroom to change in. As far as she was concerned, Elijah never needed to see her naked again. She put on a long cotton nightgown, a far cry from what he had seen her in last time. Mary stood in front of the mirror and combed her hair in silence. One could cut the tension in the room with a knife.

When she was finished, she sighed and got into the bed, scooting over so that he would have room behind her. She faced the wall, glaring at it, feeling tired from their travel, but also abuzz with discontent. The two of them had hardly said anything to each other all day. What was there to say? He was protecting her out of his own sense of duty and honor, not out of any real feelings for her. Mary was convinced of that.

[ So. This thing. This is turning out to be quite a(n annoying) thing.

It'd certainly felt like a good idea at the time, exhausted and sleep-hungry, to resign himself to a smaller sleeping space than he's used to. Than he knows he needs. It'd seemed like an idea that would've worked for as long as he'd lied on his side and kept his back flush against the wall, making himself as small as possible in this terrible, squeaky little bed.

Turns out, he was wrong. They were all wrong. It's not working.

That may or may not be Noct, giving Gladio's ankle (or shin) a small kick. ]

[This bed was plenty big when they went to bed. Just that she dreams fairly wild dreams in the middle of the night, and now she's suddenly a nine year old human instead of a kitten which means that she takes up a lot more space, and also moving around.

All of a sudden, this bed has become pretty tiny.]

( there's only a small cot inside the suitcase, because newt does not generally need much space when he sleeps and he doesn't generally sleep much while he's inside the suitcase to begin with, too occupied with his beasts, feeding them and studying them and talking to them, earning their trust if he does not already have it. it's a small cot, and it's a little awkward, fitting two grown men on it, even two grown men who are not too shy about sharing their personal space.

newt doesn't actually know if graves is shy about sharing his personal space, but the arm currently around newt's waist would suggest that he's not. perhaps newt should feel shier, more worried about this. he doesn't; he isn't. there are times when he looks at graves and all he remembers is pain, but tonight, graves had helped him feed the beasts and he'd opened up enough to show some of the scars that grindelwald's captivity had left behind, and this only feels right.

[The circumstances of how Sora got here is a little irrelevant. Suddenly finding himself in a room with a very narrow bed and a redhead that may or may not be happy to be here? He's not sure but he's a little sleepy and it was just for one night anyway. Sora is rather used to sharing beds with others so it's no chip off his shoulder.

He's kicking off his shoes and crawling into the tiny bed.]

It'll be fine! I sleep like a rock so you won't even notice me.
