winter is a lingering season
snowfall;
stage ii; very light and intermittent. stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods. stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall. stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it. scenarios;
② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do? ③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all. ④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!! ⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket. ⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips. ⑦ mix and match, or make up your own ‧:❉:‧ - from krystaliske @ memebells |

"Fine, but dinner's on me."

Matt tucks his card away when she brings it back, and he tells Danny how much of a tip to write down before Matt signs it.
"Fine. You can buy me dinner."

Danny finishes his tea before moving to stand, reaching to guide Matt after he's on his feet as well.
"Wanna walk? I'm not too far." It's still cold and snowy, but it'll save another driver coming to get them.

"I think I can manage that." Matt bundles up in his scarf and takes Danny's arm, looking forward to their nap and dinner and being snowed in together.

He leads Matt up the stairs to his old brownstone, the one he'd lived in when he'd first returned to the city, the one he grew up in.
"Do you want a hot cocoa?" He'd offer him another coffee, but they was supposed to be a nap at some point.

But he's glad to be inside once they arrive. "Will you put marshmallows in it?"
no subject
"Duh." Like there's any other way to drink cocoa. "You know your way around?"

He returns, pushing one mug into Matt's hands before settling down beside him.
"Making sure we're really snowed in tomorrow?" The weather was already calling for a blizzard. Schools already shutting down for the next day.

The news is mostly about the weather. It sounds like it's going to miserable out there, but the good news is that it means most heavy crime operations will stop, too. He and Danny can use the break.

"I don't think there's going to be much action tonight or tomorrow." As if following Matt's line of thought, even the badguys took a break in a snowstorm.

"You're stuck with me."

This is a good feeling though, like being a kid again snowed in from school, only with the added bonus of having his best friend with him. "What sort of trouble can we get into on our own?"
