You have done something unspeakable to the people closest to you. How did this come to be, and how will you make amends?

Instructions

Post with your character with their name, series, and whether you're the betrayer, the betrayed, or simply leave it blank! Then, either make up your own scenario to your liking, or use our prompts (RNG totally optional) and go wild!

(Example: for organization's sake, denote b3+2 where you killed someone and are trying to hide it or r5+3 for a situation where you side-hopped and now want nothing more than to make things right, so that people know at a glance whether you're betraying or being redeemed and what you did.)

betrayal; you've turned your back on everything you once stood for

1) you're innocent. it's not your fault, but they can never know. maybe you're protecting someone. maybe you're being blackmailed. whatever the case, it's your dark secret.
2) you're hiding. you've done something terrible, but no one knows it yet. how far will you go to bury what you've done for good?
3) you're uncertain. everything is in place now, but nothing's been set into motion yet. maybe it's not too late to turn back. or is it?
4) you're slipping. you thought you could change. maybe for a while you even managed to. but now you find yourself falling back to your old ways, and everyone around you is at risk.
5) you're reacting. they betrayed you first. you're not in the wrong. they deserve this. they brought this upon themselves. you're not really betraying anyone if they pushed first.

redemption; you've done something that can never be forgiven

1) you're trapped. they caught you red-handed, or maybe you turned yourself in. now those you betrayed are free to face you one by one and have their revenge.
2) you're false. this whole betrayal thing isn't working out quite the way you'd hoped. maybe if you play your cards just right, you'll be able to get your old life back.
3) you're selfless. whatever forced your hand to begin with doesn't matter anymore. you'll destroy yourself and play the role of a villain to the very end if that is what it takes to make things right.
4) you're lost. what you did was wrong, and you know that now. you can never be sorry enough, and you've lost your way. all you want to do is find home. won't anyone out there show you the way?
5) you're tortured. you have to make amends for what you've done. you have to. the thought consumes you, possesses you. you have to find them, help them. but after what you've done, will they even want to see you again?

'Here we go again.'

Yes, it's a great feat managing to keep Suzumiya from blowing up the world--and that's not even counting the side you guys are more involved in.

[She opens the door. Instantly, Shamisen is rubbing against her legs, purring for attention. Kyonko sighs and picks him up, skritching behind his ears affectionately despite the slightly annoyed look on her face while he purrs loudly.]

There's leftovers from last night in the fridge if you're hungry. I need to get this fuzzball fed or my brother will think I'm starving him.

Oh? Which side do you mean, precisely?

[She starts rooting through the refrigerator.]

Mm... It looks good! Did you make it, by any chance?

[She sets about getting the catfood and feeding Shamisen.]

The side that has more to do with the world literally blowing up, instead of metaphorically.

And, yeah, I did. Mom and Dad had late nights at their jobs again.

Ah, of course... Yes, well, there are many different sides to that too, aren't there? Mentally or physically blowing up, or blowing up in the context of the actions of other groups or parties than Suzumiya-kun.

[She grins.]

At any rate, I'll enjoy your food... I'm sure whoever marries you will be lucky.

[Kyonko actually freezes at the word marriage and tries not to visibly twitch though her face does go a nice shade of red.]

'Because how many times have I heard the phrase 'you can get married now!' in relation to me being able to cook a decent meal?'

I guess. That's a pretty long way off, so I'm not going to worry about it.

[She turns "innocently" back to Kyonko with a smile.]

Oho, of course not! Your face certainly looks like you won't worry about it~!

'Damn it! Why do I have to do that when it comes up?!

Guess I'll have to provide context.'

I have several aunts already pushing boys on me and talking about me getting married. It's annoying as hell since every time I go visit my grandfather I hear nothing but 'You know, Kyon-chan, there's this very nice boy who I know from X-Y-Z' and they try to set me up despite my parents making it clear--repeatedly--I'm not allowed to date yet.

Oh? So you already have familial approval ready when you do choose to become seriously entangled, hm?

[Leaning in with a warm smile.] Though if you would rather remove them from the equation, I suppose there are other ways to convince them you're not interested in marrying a boy.

I would if they'd just let me get to know the boys before seeing them as marriage material.

[She leans back a bit from Itsuko, giving her a flat look.] Except I would like to get married one day, just not for a while. Like, a few years after college at least.

[She giggles and withdraws slightly herself.] Well, that's a pity for anyone who was hoping otherwise.

And yet, I know you know at least a few boys rather well, after all.

'Oh, if we're going to start going down this road again, I'm going to see how she likes it.'

[Kyonko sets about digging through the fridge for leftovers to cook up for the two of them.]

I guess, but what about you? Can you picture yourself being married, oh, ten years from now?

[Itsuko will bustle around getting out plates and such, then.]

Ohoho... I suspect it depends very much on the outcome of events with Suzumiya-kun. After all, given certain conditions, it's possible the Organization can become a group that is not always at an active level.

In short, my ability to do so may depend on you~.

[A sigh.] 'It always comes back to me and Haruki, doesn't it? It's not like I asked to be in this situation or for him to latch onto me like he does. I still don't even understand what everyone wants from me or what it is that makes Haruki react to me like he does. And it's starting to get annoying how everything always winds up revolving around Haruki and me. Has Itsuko really put her life on hold that much that she'd refuse to get married just because of what's going on?'

Okay, then I'll rephrase the question: would you like to get married one day?

[She cocks her head to the side. She's sort of ready to spout a little bit of nothing, then pauses.]

...Truthfully, I can't think of many boys in whom I would have that kind of interest.

Same here, which is why I'm not ready to marry yet. But ten years from now? Who knows. [And she finds some food she puts on a couple plates and heats in the microwave.]

[She shrugs.]

Ah, but you seem to engender more interest, in any case.More serious interest, that is. If you go off that, one would probably expect that, statistically speaking, you would be likely to enter such a state earlier than I would regardless of other outside considerations.

In any case, if you can anticipate spending a rather large part of your life with someone already, it wouldn't necessarily be a premature option... I wonder if there's anything fitting that?

Nope. No one fitting that just yet, I don't care how much interest I seem to get. It's never the kind of interest I'd like to get from a boy.

You want soda, milk, water, apple juice, or tea? 'Considering I have a crush on several boys at once and need to settle on one before I do anything about it.'

Oh? And what kind of interest would it have to be before it satisfied your high standards, hm? I would have to say perhaps even excessive standards, in my judgment.

[A twitch as she fills Itsuko's glass.]

It's not excessive to expect the guy to actually show an interest and be nice to you or possibly even make an effort to do nice things for you. Instead of, you know, expecting you to wait on them hand and foot and never even say thank you?

Hmm... And what if he has saved your life on multiple occasions? Or perhaps makes tea that produces a rather stupid-looking expression of rapture on your face? Or allows you to have what one might term magical experiences that no other girl has ever had before?

'And suddenly we're not talking about Haruki now, are we? Something tells me this has to do with what happened earlier, but how can this not be about Haruki? It's always about Haruki to the point I want to tear my hair out sometimes. Is this really about my love life or is she having a moment where's she's honestly just trying to be a teenage gossip?

Why so confusing, Itsuko?'

[Nevertheless, Kyonko is blushing like mad just thinking about the boys of the SOS Brigade and how they all make her feel--which only serves to confuse her further.]

Itsuko.... can you just get to the point?

[She pauses, looking down at her water. When she looks up again, her eyes are troubled and her expression is perhaps even a little frightened.]

....Well, well, if you did have to marry one of them, without further repercussions, who would it be?

[Kyonko pauses at that, her eyes wide, and her face going even redder.]

Do you want me to be completely honest? [And her voice sounds small, like she's sure Itsuko won't like the answer, like Kyonko knows she won't say anything but the truth if Itsuko herself is this troubled by her answer.]
