...well, you can. But how much luck will you have when it feels like you've fallen under a spell? You just can't get them out of your head!

That's the future, though; right now, it's only a first meeting. No matter instant your attraction, no matter how mutual it seems, only the first meeting.

Still, you know it won't be the last.

"Your apartment?" Yes, he'd like that, but, wow. He had some assumptions that may or may not be true about who Supergirl was, but that didn't mean she had to invite him to her home. "I can get clothes...my cousin taught me how to pull them out of the Speed Force."

It was a little more complicated than that, since they were essentially a mental image being materialized from the energy, but that was a decent enough explanation. "Still, I wouldn't say no to sharing a meal with a beautiful lady."

Kara huffed out a blushing laugh. "Wow," she said, even if she grew warm at the compliment. This guy was sweet. "I'm always amazed at how guys can be super injured and still be flirty," she added with a shake of her head. "Well, if you can get clothes, that'll save my credit card. And then, sure, we can get those pizzas."

"This isn't bad, although I'd love to find out what the hell threw me out like that. You Supers are so used to being invulnerable that even an unexpected papercut is a huge thing," Bart said, grinning. "I've never been any other way, so I'm used to it. Born with speed."

She was blushing, and it was adorable. He wondered if that was how people thought about him. He knew that he could get away with being a teen for a while yet, and it made people look at him like a lost puppy, but still. "I'll have to find a way to pay you back. Even if I had any credit cards on me, I doubt anything I had is still good."

"Don't worry about it. The pizza place knows me by name. I basically keep them in business," she said, grinning. She glanced the Kid Flash over, looking at his wounds. "So, clothes? Are you feeling up to it? Or is that a later kind of thing?"

Bart contemplated for a moment, then sparks of energy seemed to play over his skin, and instead of the uniform, he was in a Gotham Knights hoodie and jeans, boots changing to sneakers. "Better? I assume we're flying since I have no idea where to go."

And yes, he could totally do the same to remove his own clothing, although it only worked for him.

"If you're okay with that! It'd be the fastest way to travel. We're kind of far out from the city, and an Uber would take a bit."

"It's not my favorite way, but I'm kinda used to it," Bart said. "Of course, that may just have been the person doing the flying."

Because that could make a lot of difference. Riding on the Super-cycle hadn't been all bad. A little slow, but then, compared to him, everything was.

"Well, all right then!" she said, stepping behind him. She put one hand on his hip then faltered. "I can hold you unless um. You want to hold onto me?"

Bart put an arm around her shoulders, letting her choose exactly how close. Apparently she wasn't going to just hold him under the arms and close in. Which, to be honest, he was kinda grateful for. He'd like to be able to concentrate on a thing like that.

"So, um, this is...different. Usually Superboy or Wonder Girl are doing the flying. Or sometimes Beast Boy."

Kara tilted her head. Those were... names. Not familiar names, though. "Oh. Ohhhhhh! Oh, you must be from a different Earth. Of course!" she said. "Flash calls his Earth Earth-1, which is a little biased if you ask me, and this Earth is Earth-38. What's your Earth like?"

She held him a little tighter, just to be sure he wouldn't fall, and then took off through a hole in the worn-down warehouse's roof, zooming up before leveling off. She always flew slowly with newbies, even if he said he'd flown before. She didn't want to make him throw up. They soared, just under the clouds, until Kara spotted her apartment and dropped them inside through her window.

"Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt the conversation or anything. My contacts were just buzzing in my ear and killing me asking what was taking so long." She tapped her ear then. "Everything's fine, guys. There um... there wasn't anyone there by the time I got there."

Some disbelieving voices flooded her eardrum then, and she winced before pulling the earpiece out and placing it on her counter. "I'm... not a great liar," she explained to Bart. "They pretty much all know it."

"I don't know if my Earth still exists or not. There was this Crisis, and then, well, the Flashpoint thing. It'd been pretty bad for a while."

Bart didn't know how to explain. "I go by Kid Flash because with three Flashes and the new Impulse, it gets a little confusing, especially over comms. And, maybe other than the Earth with the Justice Lords, there really aren't any differences. It's like how once you get past how different another planet's people may look, they're just people."

"That's true!" Kara said with a smile. "So... three Flashes? How does that work?" She leaned on her counter, already picking up brochures from her favorite pizza place, glancing through the toppings.

"Well, most people just know the Flash in the cowl and the Flash in the helmet. Can't tell the difference beyond that, which can be useful," Bart said, shrugging. "Some mantles get passed on, to keep the names alive. And since most of us work with specific teams, it's a little easier. You don't generally have two people with the same name on the same team at the same time."

He really didn't think about any of it anymore, because it was just obvious. "Some things do stay the same on most Earths. I've personally never been to one without Superman, for instance."

"Then you're still in luck," Kara said. "My cousin is definitely here."

Still, though. She tried to imagine someone other than Clark as Superman, and someone other than Barry as the Flash. It was almost impossible to picture - actually, pretty dang impossible.

Even weirder was imagining a whole team of them - Kara had fought with the Legends and Ollie and Barry, and it had been fun. But on her own Earth, it was just herself most of the time, as far as powered individuals went. Sometimes J'onn joined her, but even that was a rarity.

"It must be nice to be surrounded by people like you just... all the time."

"It's hard having to keep parts of yourself hidden from the people around you," Bart agreed. "But no two speedsters are really alike. Some things you can learn, like the clothing trick, but others...

"It never occurred to me that Jay or Wally didn't retain things they read at superspeed. But the best thing in the world is weekends with the Titans. Sure, there's the trouble with security at Alcatraz, but we've all been doing the sidekick thing for years."

It would be weird not to have them. "Even if my two best friends will never let me forget clipping the edge of the 'Welcome to Smallville' sign that one time I was piloting the Batplane."

Kara grinned over at him. "That's a story I'm going to have to hear more of, starting with you telling me what the heck a Batplane is."

She stepped closer to him and held out the pizza menu. "But first, pizza. Any favorite toppings?"

Bart gaped for a moment. Then shook himself. "Um, I'll eat almost anything. Except chives."

He tried to suppress the shudder at the thought of chives. "There was a gardening incident. The chives took over, and since Max wanted it to save money on produce with a kitchen garden, he insisted we eat them."

A beat. "Max was kinda like an uncle, he took care of me when I first started, since my folks couldn't."

"Yeesh, that doesn't sound like a fun time," Kara said. "No chives, got it. I've always been partial to sausage. Like, I like a lot of sausage. Is that okay?"

The innuendo, of course, went right over her own head.

Bart couldn't help grinning at that, because, yeah, it was amazing. And he kinda wanted to be the one to show her other kinds of sausage. "Uh, yeah, sausage is good. I'm not really picky about toppings, although if you've never had a chicken and chorizo pizza, you're missing out."

Kon would always insist on Hawaiian, because, well, he had been the Hero of Hawaii.

"I am always willing to try new pizza!" she said. She called her pizza place, ordering approximately a dozen pizzas, mostly with sausage and pepperoni but a couple of what Bart had suggested.

"Annnnd now we wait..." For some reason, her heart was hammering, just now really realizing that she had invited the cute, apparently metahuman, guy into her place.

"I'm sure we can find a way to fill the time," Bart said, really trying not to make it as suggestive as it could be. Gorgeous or not, she was still Supergirl, and she could break him without effort. "Like, um, you don't have Batman here? I mean in Gotham City, not here, because this is clearly not Gotham. Too clean."

Talking was probably the right place to start. She knew the Flash, but it was a different world's Flash, seemingly. That was a bit disconcerting, to be honest.

"I don't think we do?" Kara shrugged. "I've never heard of him. Does he um... does he turn into a bat?" She paused for a minute, perplexed. "Or I guess he could have a whole baseball theme going on."

"Actually, he's a perfectly normal human, except maybe for the whole vigilante aspect," Bart said, shaking his head slightly at the idea. "Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are pretty much the heart of the Justice League. It all kinda started with them. I mean, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, the Flash, and others were there, but they're the big three."

Bart considered a baseball theme for a moment, and can't help laughing a little. "My Uncle Max tried to get me to join a little league when I was younger. Can you imagine what that's like with superspeed? Although it did come in handy later when we had to play against these aliens for the fate of two worlds."

Kara grinned, walking over to her couch and falling down on it, kicking her heels up on her coffee table. Bart was free to follow or not, but Kara was home. She may have still been in her super suit, but she could get at least a little more comfortable.

"That sounds amazing, and I wish I had been there," she said. "So, what was going to happen if you lost to the baseball aliens?"

Bart flopped on the end of the couch, in the corner so he could look at her. He couldn't help but smile at the incongruity of the scene, the formality of the uniform in such a comfortable position. He didn't really want to take his eyes off her.

"They would have taken over both the planet we'd been asked to defend and Earth. Forfeit, really. But that didn't happen." A pause, and then he nodded towards her. "You know, you can't really answer the door like that. When the pizza comes."
