I really enjoyed that counseling/group therapy meme a few months ago!

Or are we talking about totally new memes here? 8|a

That could be amazing.

What kind of AU characters do you like?

See I play LOTS of original characters. I like to give them room to get CR with people across the board since the games I play them in are usually serious grim games. It's fun to let them be themselves without the stress of PLOT hanging over them.

I also love TFLN because we can all make over the top jokes about our character.

Plus seriously. I bet Rhodie and Pepper get the most hilarious drunk texts from Tony EVER.

And what happens if Tony texts Bruce I AM THE NIGHT Wayne? Hilarity my good man or woman.

But I digress. I think having people troll each other is fun. RP isn't always about being serious.

It's why for example?

Lets say you thread with two different Sherlocks at separate times. Awesome times had by all! That's great.

You might play with them again. Should that stop you from playing with a third?

Only if you can't handle whoever you are playing knowing NOTHING going in if you aren't playing a character from that universe. Plus that way the other player can let you know what they're comfortable with.

I've given this way too much thought.

But yes. IC trolling is fun when done right. :D

never works. :/ I doubt with this slowdown it'd work any better.

I am disappointed that with all the fandom-themed memes here we have had not one single Dune-themed meme here.

Why have you not been posting to Bakerstreet lately?

(Anonymous) 2012-08-18 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
Let's be honest here, most of the memes lately have been lucky to break past 300 comments.

Is it really just the beginning of school and the usual influx of smut memes? Or do you think that bakerstreet has gotten a bit worn out.

Inquiring minds would like to know. Especially if you think there's a way to get you interested again.

We need fewer memes posts per day, for one. Eight or nine is ridiculous.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-18 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
For me it's a combination of new TF2 stuff being release, my recent onset of general ennui and lethargy, the cause of which I'm not entirely sure. I don't think it's anything in particular or anything that can be done about it. I just... don't feel like it. There's interesting ideas, but I'm just not motivated to write much right now. I don't want to feel obligated to post in memes, that defeats the whole purpose. It's cyclical. Eventually I'll feel like posting again, and probably a lot when I do. But right now I just feel like I need to give the typy tappy fingers a rest.

way too many that are exactly the same or just smut-focused. i agree there should be fewer each day too.

Moderated posting was ridiculous though. I agree completely that the constant assault of ship/smut related memes which drown out any other memes is ridiculous-- but moderated posting didn't really help matters in my opinion. It just slowed it down to the same boring things.

Re: Why have you not been posting to Bakerstreet lately?

(Anonymous) 2012-08-18 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with the consensus that there's too many memes everyday. Though I don't think moderated posting is the way to go.

Perhaps only allow a certain number of dedicated memesock accounts post whenever they want, and everyone else gets moderated posting?

Re: Why have you not been posting to Bakerstreet lately?

(Anonymous) 2012-08-18 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
Moderated posting didn't help because the mods didn't do what they said they would. Perhaps instead of moderated posting the comm would be better suited to have a limited number of people who can post memes and people can request that privilege and if they abuse it and keep posting stuff that is similar to other memes posted that day, then they can have posting abilities removed.

A shame though that DW doesn't have the feature LJ has where you can set moderated posting, but set it so certain people's posts don't need approval. That would likely be ideal.

But then we get into the whole favoritism/elite-clique thing, and the people that don't get picked for memesocking will bitch and whine about not being picked. And considering that it's really the same batch of people posting the same shit over and over, assigning memesocks isn't going to change the fact that--

It's the same people posting the same shit.

Point 1 - There's too many that are basically the same. One smut meme a day is more than enough. Having the option for five just means that all the people that character dump are just doing that in more places, and people just peruse through the left posts filled with the same people that they've learned not to tag because they're flakey shiny-hunters who can't tag back or keep a thread going to save their lives.

Point 2 - We can't force people to tag out, just like we can't force the people who are tagged to tag back. What I personally would like to see is some kind of "THIS IS WHAT THIS MEANS" post, letting people know that it's OKAY to put your actual preferences in your subject line or post. Inb4 - 'But then I don't get tagged'. Yeah? Well, you're not tagging the people that tag you because they're not what you want. So really, you're wasting both your time in reading the tag and my time in writing it. And it's a wasted post since it's not getting responded to. OTA means OPEN TO ALL. Learn that. If you want castmates only or male castmates only or male porpoise pounding fuckballs only, PUT THAT IN YOUR SUBJECT LINE/POST. If people want to sit there and scoff that it's 'elitist', then they're not worth trying to snag tags from. It's not elitist. It's specific. It's stating your preferences. Stop wasting my time by putting something up that isn't true, because when you don't tag back because I'm not from your canon or preferred gender, I'm putting you on a list of flake-taggers.

And I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one with a list like that.

I think you can. At least in the comms i've set up you can set certain members to have posting access....

I disagree.

8 or 9 isn't such a big deal, I think.

It is when four of them are basically the same.

Re: What kind of AU characters do you like?

(Anonymous) 2012-08-18 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ones that are ACTUAL AU versions. Not with little, minor tweaks, but with, "Instead of Mary Winchester dying, it was John plastered up on the ceiling. So now let's have a Sam and Dean raised by their hunter mother looking for their father's killer."

Actual dramatic dynamic changes that aren't a little bump in the path deviations, but a massive turn of the wheel and a whole new path forged.

Memes are not srs bizness

(Anonymous) 2012-08-18 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Or they shouldn't be, anyway.

So what if people are slowing down a bit?

It's not the end of the world!

They'll be back when they feel like it, or not.
