All right, then what are we waiting for?

[Levy's face brightens up right alongside Hanamaru's, giving her hands a little squeeze as she stands up. And after a quick trip to the lockers to put their books away so they don't get wrinkled from all the steam, they're relaxing in the baths!]

Okay, just put your feet up here and relax! I want to hear all about what you're reading. I've been into the old legends of Abe no Seimei lately.

[Levy pats her lap for Hanamaru, splashing the water a bit as she does. But she seems pretty excited to have a book buddy.]

[ Hanamaru isn't entirely sure what's the point of it, but shrugs it off and puts her feet up anyway, and leans in backwards to relax into the warmth of the bathwater. ]

Woah! This is awesome, zura! [ Coughs. Right, they're here to talk! It's very comfortable but the warmth is making her a bit sleepy, and thus difficult to focus. Once you get her to start talking about books, though, it's all but impossible for her to stop. ]

Oh, the legends of Abe no Seimei are fascinating! Maru is really into 20th century postwar literature as of late, zura. I've been reading a lot of Mishima Yukio's works lately, like Kamen no Kokuhaku, and earlier I was reading Shouhei Ouka's Nobi. [ cheerfully: ] It's a story about the helplessness of a deserted soldier and his descent into delirium and darkness in the final days of war! It's really good, zura.

Isn't it? I thought you'd like it!

[The massage is mostly just Levy making up for the tickling episode from earlier, since she does genuinely feel bad for embarrassing her. She smiles over at her new friend as she takes her feet in her hands, pressing in at her soles with her thumbs and rotating them in circles while they talk.]

Yeah, I really like all of those old stories about spirits and magic. The Kojiki was really good too - I've been thinking about looking up Motoori Norinaga's study of the text.

[She listens with interest as Hanamaru describes what she's been reading lately, nodding along while the two enjoy the nice soak.]

Maybe I'll check those out too, though. It's interesting to see how much the literary tradition changes in reaction to big events like the war.
