Say you're in a war. Whichever side you're on, you want out. Either your side is losing or your beliefs have changed or you're trying to get close to the people important so you can get rid of them and end everything, you're going to switch sides. Maybe you end up having to kill people who used to be your comrades, your friends. Maybe you're not REALLY switching sides and you're acting as a spy. Maybe you're acting as a double triple agent? Calm down there, buddy. Maybe you just want to run away entirely.
This doesn't only have to apply to wars, of course. Maybe your friends are arguing and you changed your mind about who you agree with. Maybe you're trying to decide what to have for dinner and originally you wanted pizza but now you want a burger and everyone is pissed at you. The point is, things have changed. You have changed. What are you going to do now?
• Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Or don't. As always, we're not the cops. • Reply to other people's top levels! • Have fun!
[There had to be a reason Sirius thought he might be the traitor, right? :')
He's not exactly Death Eater material but we can find a way to make it work! If he's not being a spy, maybe something big went down with all the werewolves I dunno bring me your ideas and we'll make something of it.]
[In another life, Krennic saw the way the wind was blowing early enough to back out. Or perhaps Galen got his message out early, and freeing him meant capturing Orson. Or the Director survived Scarif, but has no where left to turn to but the Rebellion.
Whatever the reason, willingly or unwillingly, Orson's the Imperial defector that the Rebellion didn't want - volatile, argumentative, and still a touch too Imperial for most of their tastes. He's not trusted. Hell, he's barely tolerated, but he's valuable, and the Alliance will take what they can get.
(Even if some of them would rather just shoot him and be done with it.)]
[ I feel like our thread could potentially go this way. For some reason or another, maybe because they've TALKED and SHARED SHIT now (or the actual rebels and/or Cassian show up like wtf jyn) they don't shoot each other and she brings him in to the Rebellion. Originally as a prisoner probably, but yeah unfortunately he's valuable or he proves he's valuable so they don't kill him or let him rot away in a cell.
NOT SAYING WE HAVE TO PLAY THIS OUT, just thought it was a thing that could happen! ]
[ I like the very AU idea of Jyn having been taken unwilling with her father. Lyra could have still been shot, of course, which would have made her bitter to some extent, or she could have been brought with them. She would have had a very different life, maybe grown up as a kind of Imperial? Torn between her family and the environment she's been brought up in? ]
He has a history of educating people to the error of their ways- via argument, religious conversion or invasive brain surgery. His idea of erroneous ways can include people too evil or too good, so he's suitable for dragging just about anyone into an anarchist Khaotic middle ground.
Conversely, he's also pretended to join some side or other if it suits his needs and as a robot he can be reprogrammed so he can go either way.
[Jyn could have grown up in the Empire, with Galen going back with Krennic at the beginning of the movie. Alternatively, the Empire could be the ones to free her from the labor camp instead of the rebels, realising they have Galen's daughter and therefore leverage with him. Another option is Jyn growing disillusioned following Saw abandoning her and joining the Empire of her own volition to try to find a place for herself.]
[Either prior to the start of the movie, or during the interrogation that Rey changed sides. She doesn't want to be powerless again.
Or, being found by her family and they're on the side of the First Order. She would go unwillingly at first, but see the benefit of aligning with them.
Or, messing with the time line, being found by the Empire and trained to be a pilot or Vader's apprentice. Anything is better than trying to live off of scraps.]
[Canonically, after Baze lost his faith, he became a freelance assassin. Going with that as a starting point, once he lost his faith in the Force, he was no longer welcome to be a Guardian of the Whills. He was cast from the Temple of the Kyber. He leaves Jedha in his mid to late teens. When he left, he met up with Mandalorian mercenaries. He joined up with them and was part of the completion of Order 66 (he'd have been in his 30s by this point). Since then, Baze has been for hire by anyone with the credits to afford him. Which pretty much means he survives off the Empire's blood money.]
[I like the idea of the Force awakening in Rey earlier, while she's still alone on Jakku, which Kylo Ren senses when he comes to retrieve the map at the beginning and seeks her out. Another option is that she joins him when he makes that offer on Starkiller Base. Alternatively, Rey could have given up on her family coming back to get her years ago and have left Jakku and work as a smuggler or bounty hunter. I'd also love options with muses from the original trilogy/prequels.]
[Astrid Finch: Ultra Agent? Spy? Simply abandoning her best friend and his people to help her long lost John? MY WORLD FOR A JOHN YOUNG or STEPHEN OMG. Or maybe she is out to imprison ANYONE with superpowers, not just the Tomorrow People. She has her reasons.]
[He could have had a change of heart in between games instead of being filled with thoughts of revenge. Or he managed to recover after the events of Arkham Knight and had a redemption arc. Willing to AU any relationships he might have, be it canon or cross-canon.]
[ while i couldn't see him ever genuinely changing sides, i could see him using it as an ends for a means (protection/revenge) or to get in close for reconnaissance. a man that prides himself on not being seen would probably do well for worming his way in as a means to help.
especially since he can (probably) run if things go bad. ]
[Mozenrath is a straight-up, maniacally-cackling Disney villain in his ordinary state, but I'm a sucker for scenarios where he has to team up with the good guys under duress. He can be dragged along on all sorts of heroic ventures if the consequences of not doing so are severe enough--maybe if the gauntlet that gives him his powers is being withheld until he helps out.
[It had been quite some time since the events of the hospital room. The fight. Maybe it was all a dream that happened and Makoto will wake up one day to her best friend back to normal. It was the most she could've done at this point.]
Where have you been... are you okay?
[No matter what, that expression on her friend's face was nothing like the Ami she knew and cared for.]
((With some work, he might be convinced to leave the dark side, provided he's not going to die as a result. He does so very much enjoy being 'alive'.))
