The Slenderman Meme
The Slenderman Meme

You might find yourself somewhere familiar, like at home, or perhaps you took a hike in the local park, or deiced to explore some abandoned buildings. Or instead you might wake up somewhere unfamiliar, like a hotel room or in a field, or a forest or strange abandoned building. It doesn't really matter either way, because something just feels wrong like you're being watched. Your eyes dart around, and you see a strange, tall, suited, faceless figure in the distance. He stands there as if watching you. Perhaps you decide to go up to him, that might not be the best idea as he might attack. Instead you might run for your life but it seems that he always catches up with you. If you happen to have or find a video camera, you might find that it records fine, but later you'll notice some strange audio and visual distortion. Either way he's always watching. Ⓧ
How to play.
1. Pick or use an RNG to decide what Slenderman's origins are.
2. Do the same for your characters role.
3. Put your character's name and canon in the title, along with their role and Slendy's origins and optionally write a small starting scenario. Slenderman should be an NPC for the sake of convenience.
4. Pick a role (if you didn't) and tag around. Now your two characters meet up and are being watched by Slendy. Do they work together or do they fight instead?
Slenderman's origins:
1. A faerie - Slenderman is a malevolent Fae, who lurks the forest who takes away the naughty children, who didn't listen to their parent's warning about not going into the forest.
2. A demon - Slendy's being straight from hell, who came here to torment people and make the paranoid.
3. An Alien- He's not from this plant, maybe he came here simply to watch or to invade?
4. An Extradimensional being - Slenderman from a parallel universe/dimension, maybe he's here by accident, or he was brought here for unknown reasons?
5. A tulpa/thoughtform - He only exists because people believe in him, this is what gives him his power. Maybe if you ignored him he's go away? But who's willing to try that?
6. Magic(k) gone wrong - Maybe some magicians were trying to summon some entity, but it went wrong and they found the tall man instead? He seems rather angry at humanity for bringing him here, even if it was unintentional.
7. A curse - Was Slendy a criminal that was tied to the trees and left to die, or he was stretched as a form of torture? Somehow he survived, perhaps by making a vow or cursing those who killed, and now he stalks the forest. Or instead this might be his punishment for his misdeeds.
8. Science - Sometimes we as humans play with things that we aren't meant to, and we create things that weren't mean to exist. Maybe this is how Slenderman got here in the first place?
9. Something else? Have an idea for his origin that's not here? Go for it!
ⓍRoles
1. Victim - You're the victim, and now you have a tall faceless man stalk you. Maybe he wants something? Sooner or later you might start to get sick, at first it might start out as a cough, then you get headaches, dizzy spells, memory problems.
2. The amnesiac victim - You have no clue how you got here, what happened, or why the strange man is following you around. You can't seem to remember the past few months for some reason or another. Like the victim you've been stalk, but you probably been stalked for a while now, and you probably have a case of Slender sickness.
3. The proxy - You have spells of amnesia, and you don't have control your body for certain periods of time. You seem to be working for Slenderman, but you certainly don't remember that. There's a lot of missing time in the past few months, and sometimes you wake up covered in dirt, wearing a mask, or in the middle of nowhere.
4. The accidental victim - Your friends are acting strange, and they all seem really paranoid. Now you feel like there's someone watching you, and sometimes you see a strange man out of the corner of your eye. Be careful, because you're his next victim.
5. The investigator - You might be an amateur or a professional investigator. Maybe someone you know is suddenly missing or paranoid, or maybe your office is getting strange calls from scared teens. So you decide to investigate, by going straight to the source. I mean this can't be anything more than a silly prank right?
6. The informant- Maybe he's stalked you all your life or maybe you know some obscure local history or legends that might help. It doesn't matter because you seem to know more about Slenderman than most other people, and you're willing to help anyone who needs it.
7. The agent - You're mysterious and shadowy. No one really knows who you're working for, but you seem to leave strange messages for people, or you ask strange questions.
8. Something else? Think of a role that isn't mentioned here, or combine two.

Whoever she is, she has a feeling being in the forest at night wasn't a good thing. She doubted she was a park ranger or a nocturnal hiker, not in a flowery little sundress and strappy--both felt wrong, like things that aren't hers. But what does she know? She sits up, blinking and then shivering.]
Hello? Is anybody out there?
Annette | Castlevania | Demon | Accidental Victim
That is, until one night she felt as though she was being followed as she walked home. She could have sworn, as she entered her house and locked the door behind her, that she saw someone standing just outside the window.
Now, weeks later, she was seeing things like this more and more often... ]
Alex Shepherd | Silent Hill: Homecoming | 9 and 3 / ota
He gets up, drops the bloody knife in his hand, and almost hyperventilates.
His cellphone has calls from Elle and his job.
'Shepherd, where are you?'
'Alex, please. You're freaking me out.'
'Dude, are you alive?'
... He's been gone for a week now. How is that possible? He laughs to himself, low and quiet. This isn't right. Something's so wrong with his head. Is it because Silent Hill broke him? For a while, he thinks so. Or perhaps Silent Hill follows him still, never letting up, reminding him of the sin and the sinner. He swivels around sharply, coughing hard into his hands as he stares at the slender figure standing rigid in the distance, among the trees.
I have to get out of here.
So he runs, the daylight broad, staggering to the roadside with his hands planted firmly on the burning hot asphalt. And he thinks maybe it's safer here than in the grass.]
role 4 BD
The cops have suggested this isn't so abnormal. Alex is a grown man with mental issues. He'll probably come back on his own. Even made a comment that according to her own report this isn't the first time he's just skipped town without saying anything. But Elle can't accept that. They don't know him, they don't know about Shepherd's Glen, they don't know any of it.
They don't know that these days Elle knows something is wrong. She's been seeing things, and she's no idiot. They're not imaginary. She knows the difference between the horror her mind conjures up and something...there.]
Please, please, pick up, just--answer me, come on--

the eleventh doctor | doctor who | SILENT!! [3] | 1/2/5/6
Millions of years passed, undisturbed, before a minor religious group known as the Silence landed on the planet. Reports vary on how the two life forms on the planet met, but, somehow, the Headless Monks were able to gather enough to breed and dilate this species into their own personal "gods". They were soon let loose on every planet, in every time to further their own means.
These were the descendants of the first beings that walked the murky planet billions of years ago. These Silent were shorter, with shorter arms and legs. The original "Silent" are taller, with long arms and legs. While the modern day Silent (or, plantavit tacita, "planted silent") retain the ability to cause amnesia and the power of suggestion, these ancestors (or, tenebris conticescent, "darkness silent") have the ability to cause an even more serious case of amnesia and unconsciousness. The Silence didn't have a need for the blackout the tenebris conticescent had.
Once upon a time, a warrior, a wizard, a guardian to all beings in the universe crossed paths with the plantavit tacita. For a brief moment, the Silent had the upper-hand. They kidnapped his friends, showed no mercy, all to prevent him from answering the Question. He was able to win though, in the end. When a little, insignificant species on a little, insignificant rock circling a little, insignificant star, took their first steps on an alien world, the Silent were eradicated from this rock. This great and powerful man had won!
Now, on the planet of Crabrones, the Doctor crosses paths with the ancestors of the "gods" he slew so long ago.]

There had been something really fucking odd about that last dig site. Maybe Liara was right, though. It felt so off because the caves were an odd blend of swamp and cold with long, gleaming crystalline stalactites. The piece they had in the lab wasn't the only one that had been taken. When the small sample had been taken, part of the larger crystal had had broken, and Sarka had taken the chunk of oily black rock back with her.
It was almost luminescent in the dim light of her quarters where it had been sitting for three days.
She sat at the edge of her bed, peering into the near darkness, rubbing at the back of her neck. Lately, if she stared into the corner right next to the door, sometimes she was sure she saw a man standing there. Staring.
But no one was there.
She rubbed at her eyes and rose, pacing for a moment, before heading out the door and down the elevator to run the decks. No one was up and she needed to stretch her legs. It didn't help that she found herself stopping to catch her breath and dissolved into a coughing fit. Through blurry eyes, she watched a figure rush by and called out.
the accidental victim.
Grunt froze when he heard Shepard call out, though, feeling almost embarrassingly anxious about the dim "nighttime" lighting and his Battlemaster's tone. She wasn't supposed to be unsettled by anything.
"Shepard? Is something wrong?" he asked, peeking around a corner to look for her.

She took a deep breath, and headed to the forest. It's tall trees towered over her forming a canopy of darkness. She had trekked into the forest many times already and was always a bit unnerved by it, but this time something just felt so wrong about it. The forest was too silent and still to be the Everfree, usually there would be the sound of leaves rustling in the wind, or the sounds of other animal, but now it was total silence except for her hoof beats. Oddly enough she felt as if someone was watching her every move.]
Elizabeak?
[She called out but there was not cluck in response. The pegasus flapped her wings and flew a bit above the ground. Strange there was nothing in sight. She still couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched though, but she still had to find her chickens. Then in the distance a strange and impossibly thin two legged figure stood there, it's featureless face staring at her. Fear took a grip of her, she turned around and then galloped away.]
Let's say a 7 hmm~?
[ A flap of mismatched wings as he descends from his hiding place among the branches of a near tree. The tall figure seems to have vanished as quickly as he appeared, but Discord, God of Chaos, Fully Licensed Causer of Trouble, continues to speak as though he's nearby. ]

[pauses in front of one of the windows once he's reached the street, staring at his own reflection. wherever he's been, whatever he's been doing, it hasn't been kind to his appearance. how long has he been out...?]
[turns away, looking around the empty street. urban decay is one thing, but he doesn't see a single inhabited-looking building on the block. And the streetlights don't seem to be turning on, despite the darkening sky...]

This can't be right, [she muttered to herself. She turned on the overhead light of her car, and double-checked the address details to be sure.] ...St. James' Clinic for the Mentally Impaired. Previously owned by one Dr. Jonathan Crane. [Who they've been completely unable to get a hold of since they got the tipoff. She sighs.] This is the right place, alright. [She tosses the paper away onto the empty passenger seat and cuts the engine.]
[Reluctantly, she climbs out of her car. She should have waited for backup, maybe, but her partner's working another tip off up town and the whole department is stretched thin looking for this little girl. If only the details hadn't been so sparse.
Olivia cautiously approaches the front of the building. She looks up, scanning the building for any lights, but it's dark inside. She checks the door, expecting to find it locked up tight, but the front door yawns open on complaining hinges.]
Well. Looks like somebody's home.
[She heads in carefully, quietly, trying to tread in such a way into the dark and the unknown that she won't trip on anything. Rather than waiting for her eyes to adjust to this new, darker darkness, she reaches for the flashlight hanging off the belt on her hip. She clicks it on, and a pale beam of light sweeps an empty lobby, revealing chairs no one has sat on in years and plastic plants covered in dust thick enough to look like light snow. But wait. Didn't the information they pulled up say this place had only been unoccupied for a few months? So why did it seem like things were substantially older?
The only sound she can hear is her own breath, the beating of her heart. She calls out, hesitantly,] Hello? Anyone there?
