Steve needed him. He left. The Avengers needed him. He left. He had things to take care of. He left. Always he left, for days and weeks at a time, but then he would return and it was like he'd never gone anywhere at all.

T'Challa welcomed him back each time, giving him the same thing the king had offered Rogue: the closest thing to a home that they'd had in a long time, and a level of safety that not even the Avengers could provide. Rogue had seen the security of the Wakandan capital city; anyone who went against those defenses was asking to be squished like a bug.

So she stayed in Wakanda while he was gone, because she had nowhere else to go and because she knew he would return. Hoped. Because he was all she had, the only one who understood, and if one day he didn't come back... She tried not to think about that inevitable day.

Amos looked up from his book as he heard the latch click, and smiled happily. He knew that quiet tread on the creaky old wooden floor: the shotgun house in the depths of New Orleans was older than either of them. Setting his book aside, he unfolded himself from the overstuffed recliner as Natasha appeared in the doorway.

"Hey there, heart. It's been a while," he greeted, voice warm and accent gone thicker with his pleasure at seeing her again.

Spy to spy, they didn't always get to see eachother on a regular basis. He glanced her over, checking for obvious signs of injury, even as he came closer, hands spread to gather her in for an embrace.

It's not really 'bad' timing, just inevitable; Jesus being gone on runs for extended periods of time and showing back up on an imprecise schedule is normal, so is Daryl heading out to do the same (though he's been staying in more lately, having begun to feel like every time he leaves he comes back to find Rick covered in blood or everything on fire). When Jesus returns to Hilltop, Daryl's not there - not unusual anymore, though he does tend to roll up when Jesus is supposed to be back. But then he's not at Alexandria, either, because a few days ago he caved to stir crazy and bounced with Aaron.

Jesus is in time for family dinner! at least, which ultimately ends up being Eric saving whatever attempt Rick and Michonne were making and Carl entirely-too-innocently asking Jesus to show him how to do this or that as the evening progresses. Maybe Daryl will show up in the middle of that, or maybe he and Aaron will dick around in the supply area for a while first and let everyone enjoy their domestic moment.
