[ mercury's allowed some indulgences in this line of work, largely at cinder's behest. he's allowed to take out his violent urges on anyone his boss points a finger at, to freely hurt any who would oppose her, to rub salt in the wounds of so-called heroes as they learn how fruitless their efforts are. he's a sadist at heart, and cinder offer no shortage of targets to exercise sadism upon. he's forever a fan of dishing out pain.

pleasure... now that's a much rarer indulgence. cinder is sparing with it - she has no qualms in complimenting a job well done, in stroking an ego to encourage good work, but once in a while her mood just happens to coincide just right with his own in a moment of need for something carnal, an infuriating itch in desperate need of a rough scratch, and on those nights she can count on mercury to channel his aggression however (and wherever) she needs him to. they're furious affairs, clawed skin and grit teeth, bruises and blood, as if they aren't sure whether they seek to satisfy or murder one another.

even with that being said, last night was more intense than usual, and as mercury regains consciousness from a sliver of morning light that peeks through the cracks straight into his eyes he can feel the dull ache all over his body. his skin is still sensitive in places, areas that had nails hot as magma dragged against them as cinder took her aggressions out on someone she knew could take it. he can't remember the last time he still felt so spent after a full night's rest (... most of a night at least), barely mustering the energy to turn and spy cinder's form still in bed at his side with her back to him, blankets draped just right to leave her bare from the waist up. he hadn't left her unmarked, either, though aura would see to fixing those marks quickly... but seeing them only floods him with memories of the night before, sharp cries and heated groans, and he realizes he's not so ready to rest the morning away after all.

he reaches out, lazily dragging his fingernails up and down the curve of her spine, waiting for her to awaken. round 2 the next morning wasn't common, but he was feeling lucky.

[ sometimes, you just get far too drunk that you can't even walk anymore. it's happened tons of times for one (1) qrow branwen, but he's always made his way back to wherever he usually slept. there's no place called 'home' for him anymore when he's been travelling most of his years to do his work. not to mention, 'home' isn't exactly what he considers 'home' anymore. he's left the tribe to pursue other things.

like drinking.

he can barely even see anymore, but he tries to take a sip from his flask, still. and for whatever reason, he met winter schnee at the bar he was hanging out in. maybe she needed a break, too. who knew someone so uptight would even consider something called a 'break'? well, whatever. qrow doesn't particularly care. ]

Damn it, it's empty. [ he shakes the flask and some alcohol drips out of it, but it's too late for him to catch it with his mouth. winter really needs a lot of patience if she wants qrow to get back to his room safe and sound. ]

To say that their latest hunt could have gone better. Eventually they killed the monster that had been terrorizing some middle of nowhere town, but not without way more struggle than they needed to endure. It took too many bullets, too much blood, but eventually they were able to put the creature down. The drive back to the motel had been silent, nothing more than a few muttered, idle words between them, and even when Sam unlocks the door and they step inside, only after making sure it's securely locked behind them does any sense of normalcy (normal for them at least) seem to return.

Derek tugs off his his shirt, the bloody, tattered remains of it at least, and starts to toss it onto the bed before he looks at it again, sighs and just tosses it in the nearby wastebasket. For as ruined as the shirt had been, Derek's skin was unmarred as it always was. He didn't even have a scratch left to show for the slashes he took when he jumped in the way to protect Sam, thanks to his healing. Same might not have taken a hit as bad, but he also didn't heal as quickly from all the cuts and scratches either, and while Derek knew that the hunter would survive them, it didn't stop him being all too aware that they were there, under the hunter's jacket, which only made him a bit more annoyed than usual as they drove home.

He flops down onto the edge of the bed, toeing off his boots. Then he finally looks over to Sam, as he does the same. He didn't know how things worked when Dean was around, but he wasn't, and Derek wasn't good at ignoring how beat up the two of them were, and how Sam still was.

"So..." He finally breaks the silence, getting up again in only his jeans and walking over to Sam. He doesn't reach out to touch him yet, even if he wants to, respecting the other's space instead of crowding him like he normally did after a hunt. Granted, normally after hunts, there was adrenaline, tension and steam that they needed to work off, tearing off clothes and biting kisses, leading to more until they were both spent and exhausted and could sleep. This time, the tension was still there, but it was all exhaustion.

"Are you going to let me help you heal this time," Or at least take away some of the aches and pain that Sam had to be feeling from the cuts and bruises. "Or are you going to sulk and stubbornly endure it?" Whether it was because of guilt or distrust of anything werewolf related... Derek probably sounds a bit irritable because of it, but it's just his way of trying to show that he's worried about Sam. He wants to help his partner.
