The Goodbye meme

Maybe you've both been putting it off, maybe you've been looking forward to it, but whatever's led up to this point, it's time to say goodbye.  Maybe you're just going down to the store and one of you is dramatic, maybe its goodbye forever.  Are you sad about it?  Relieved?  Glad?  Determined?  Not every goodbye if for someone you care about.  Maybe its for someone you used to care about.  Maybe its for someone you never cared about at all.  Make it funny, break a heart, give your last words of wisdom or instruction, don't say the one thing you've always wanted to say.  There are so many reasons and ways to say goodbye but they all end with just one word.  Post up a top level and any prefs and then go find someone that you can't let leave without saying something to.

And as nice as it would have been to have frozen time for the two of them some way, somehow-- as the saying goes, duty calls.

Hana tries very, very hard not to think about the very real possibility that this may be the last time they see each other. At least for a very long time-- but it doesn't escape her that last time ever could be in the cards, too. It doesn't occur to her for even one second that there are two ways to this street, that Shiro isn't the only one diving headfirst into dangerous missions and battles, because right now he's the only one on her mind. Not MEKA, not even Overwatch, not even his family just beyond the walls of the room. Just him.

She's done goodbyes before. People come and go in Overwatch, including herself-- more than a few of them have other engagements outside of it. But-- saying goodbye to Lúcio or Tracer or 76 or Mercy or anyone else has always felt like a "See you later." Even with the very dangerous situations those people got up to, it always felt like they knew just when they'd see each other again. Not so much the case at the moment, with Shiro.

Hana's done goodbyes before. Why does this one feel like it's going to be so damn hard?

It doesn't show, though. She tries not to let it show. She tries to look fine with it all as she sits on the floor of his room, already dressed back up in the clothes she'd originally come here with (which had mysteriously appeared, all neatly folded, in the room), working out knots at the ends of her hair where it had gotten tangled during the night. She even manages to look pissed about it in a way that D.Va would be but-- there's cracks in her facade. There's tension in her shoulders and a frown on her face and furrowing across her brow. And a thick silence in the room. ]

Hi there! How do you feel about two space princesses having to say goodbye after working together in an episode of taking down an evil galactic empire's outpost?
