FUCK OFF, ONLY I CAN TALK SHIT ON HIM!

IN YOUR HONOR MEME

Okay. All right. So. Whether you like this person, love them, hate them, tolerate them - someone else has disrespected them in a way you can't abide by. Friends, family, lover, enemy, it doesn't matter. You're rarin' mad and ready to tussle with somebody in their honor. Maybe they can't do it themselves. Maybe they like watching you do it. Maybe they don't care and you're making a scene. What's the deal?

WHO ARE YOU PROTECTING?

1. FRIEND You're friends. Of course you want to protect them.
2. FOE You hate each other. But sure as hell you're not going to let someone ELSE talk shit on them.
3. LOVER Someone betrayed your lover's (or lovers', we don't judge here) honor! TIME TO FIGHT.
4. FAMILY Protecting your family is natural, isn't it?
5. STRANGER You don't know them, but someone is being awful to them. Fix it.
6. OTHER Who else? I dunno, we're not the cops.

REVENGE METHOD

1. ARGUMENT Use your words to deliver a righteous smackdown.
2. FIGHT Or like, use your fists to deliver a righteous smackdown.
3. MURDER Woah dude, maybe calm down a little.
4. PETTY Little tricks, pranks, whatever. Make their life hell. But quietly.

As always, these are just suggestions. Make up anything you want, as long as you're having fun!

Shore leave on hospitable planets usually means running into beings from all across the galaxy. It was representative of the lofty ideals of the Federation. It was also representative of the fact that, despite untold differences between various races, putting individuals together was likely to lead to heated debate and sometimes fisticuffs.

Spock had never been pushed to such a point on shore leave. At least, not yet. While he was generally unruffled, even at the worst of comments, such was not to be said for the humans with whom he served. And with a group of individuals - humans, from the look of them - off in the corner of the establishment he and McCoy were dining in, grumbling louder and louder about the Enterprise and her crew, Spock suspected that soon he would need to intervene.

That makes two of us

[personal profile] bedside_manner_pending 2016-12-20 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Whereas Bones... It wasn't a shore leave until he had tried to stop a fight, been dragged into a fight or, on odd occasion, started a fight inadvertently (but he was blaming the drink for those occasions).

Now was starting to shape up into one of the latter. McCoy rarely swung first. But he did have a sharp tongue, sharp hearing and a temper.

A rapidly fraying temper.

"-you think they have a Vulcan so there's someone with no emotion to change the navigator's nappy?"

There was guffawing laughter. Bones' hands tightened on his cutlery.

One of the others cut in.

"Not like they got a real Vulcan, anyway."

"... 'cuse me, Spock." The knife and fork were slammed into the tabletop, making people jump and fall quiet as Bones turned in his seat, starting to get up.

The men in the corner were easy to overhear, even without the acute hearing Spock had, as evidenced by the way McCoy slammed down his silverware.

Spock exhaled, in a manner that might have been a sigh on anyone else. Those were words he had heard time and time again and rarely had any effect on him, especially since the individuals in question were human.

For a moment, considering the slight against Chekov, he debated not stopping McCoy, but dealing with bruises was not his area of expertise and he would rather not deal with another report. Even if it did not reach those levels of violence, he'd just rather not.

"Doctor," he said, settling his silverware down, and reaching out to grab McCoy's sleeve. "You do not need to say anything to them."

[personal profile] bedside_manner_pending 2016-12-20 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Bones looked down at the fingers holding his sleeve, jaw tight and mouth a hard line. "Like hell I don't need to say anything. No one gets to say things like that about my crew and my friends where I can hear and expect me to just sit back and let them. Any one of our crew is three times the person any of them will ever be!"

No one got to poke fun at Spock unless they were crew.

He still wasn't sitting down but he wasn't willing to try ripping out of Spock's grip yet to go and fight them.
mindmeld: (010.)

[personal profile] mindmeld 2016-12-21 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
"You are correct," Spock said, tightening his fingers on McCoy's sleeve. "Our crew is well-aware of their quality and as such, do not need violence to defend their honor."

Spock had learned that the difficult way. And besides, it was obvious the group in the corner had overheard McCoy, because one of them guffawed.

"Doc's got an attitude problem," he said, "makes you wonder why they keep him around."

Spock let go of McCoy's sleeve at that, because while his own reputation hardly mattered, he was not so kindly disposed to those who would insult his friends.
bedside_manner_pending: (pissedoff)

[personal profile] bedside_manner_pending 2016-12-21 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
Because Spock, like Bones, could easily shrug off insults against himself. Bones knew he had an attitude problem, and knew he was still one of the best in medical innovators and surgeons in the Federation.

"And if you crack one of them in the face, ain't enough osteogenerators going around to fix that without surgery." He made himself sit back down, hands curling on the edge of the table.

"Yeah, half blood, you keep your white feather doctor there under control!"

Bones' eye twitched slightly. "What if I promise to put them back together after?"
mindmeld: (021.)

[personal profile] mindmeld 2016-12-21 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Spock was halfway out of his seat when McCoy pointed out that if he took action, surgery would be required, and had almost settled back into it when they spoke again and reexamined his decision. He stood, finally.

His brows furrowed and he inclined his head toward McCoy. "I shall not mention this in the official logs," he said.

[personal profile] bedside_manner_pending 2016-12-21 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Half the time I don't remember to do mine," Bones admitted. As if that was a secret.

"Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee are looking like they might be ready to get a pounding," came a laughed cry. "A different sort than they must get from Kirk to be allowed on Command Staff."

Bones growled and turned and launched himself at the one who spoke, fist cracking into the man's cheek.

[personal profile] mindmeld 2016-12-21 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that was a new comment. Spock actually blinked at that, then immediately followed McCoy. Rather than actually throwing a punch, he simply swept his foot out, knocking the chair out from under the second member of the trio, sending him toppling.

"You should not sully Captain Kirk's name with such language," he commented.

[[ooc: This is kind of Asuka's jam, to be honest. Could be a friend, foe, lover (none of those are mutually exclusive), or even a particularly wronged stranger, and she'd jump right in. She's the type to pick a righteous fight, but even when pulling their punches, Shinobi tend to be pretty dangerous, so if a normie pulled a knife or something this could turn into an accidental murder situation (either of the "WTF you psycho!" or "inconvenient dead body shenanigans" sorts).
