hurt/comfort smut; meme Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself.

to bring you out of the darkness; The injury may not be a temporary physical or mental one, however. Some characters suffer more deeply, even if they don't know it. Darkness covers their hearts, they're withdrawn, insecure, angry, or lonely. They need someone to reach out to them and show them unconditional love. This post can provide that, too. Whether it be the cliche and shameless "changed by your love" trope or something more subtle like getting someone to open up, the characters here can offer that and more. It was the last thing he heard when they breached the building, a tinny voice over the speakers, unmistakable. Zola. His blood turned to ice in his veins.

A trap. And he fell right into it.

From there, blackness. Then trying to move, feeling his limbs tied down. Panic, rage.

Wonderful how the old programming still works, yes? One word and the mighty Soldier falls like a house of cards. Do try not to struggle; soon you will be back where you belong. Hail HYDRA.

Bucky thrashed, crying out as realization dawned. He was in the goddamn Chair. A more primitive version, true, but as inevitable as the cycles of the moon. He'd never escape this place, never be free of them.

Just as he heard the humming of a generator coming to life, he cursed them, for all the good it would do. His team would come for him, they would kill every last one of you sorry sons of bitches.

But then, current, and he had nothing to bite down on. His body tensed, the sudden voltage causing his body to jerk upwards and stiffen in midair. Silence. A moment while settings were recalibrated. Then another shock, and Bucky heard distant screaming, not processing it was pouring from his own throat. ]

[ the whole thing really reminds dax of lela, of the l'dira attack, of watching darzen odan run into his home to hug his family. of knowing that trill would never be the same. it also reminds her of that one critical day, those inter-galactic gymnastics held on the campus of earth's ole miss.

if she knew the enterprise was so close to the damaged ship, she might lean even more towards the latter.

a rogue tessma ship had dropped out of warp, shot the ship she was on almost like it knew exactly where she was, damaged the engines so they couldn't be followed, and then run off again. the captain of the tiny vessel sent out a subspace distress beacon, saying they had injured. most of them aren't badly hurt. except for the plasma burns. but most of them aren't burned and hurt as badly as emony.

and no one else is carrying a secret second life-form.

emony presses a hand to her belly, hoping the fabric of her shirt will hold dax in place and keep her from bleeding out. she struggles to stay awake, to keep herself focused on the chaos around her. she can't die out here. not without another host close by. she can't let dax die with her.

so she fights it as best she can, fights with everything she has, though on the outside it looks like she's just barely keeping her eyes open.

Sometimes sleep comes like it's almost normal. Other times it's like pulling teeth. There's no way to even claim it shouldn't be that way, not for any of them, but the fact is it's like that either way. There's comfort in numbers though, in sharing a space with someone you know and trust at least a little. At least it's that way for Jesus, who has rough nights of his own at times and wakes up drenched in sweat and gasping. There's no shame in it: they all have their fucking demons, after all. Even calm, smiling, placid Jesus.

Tonight though, his own sleep is almost peaceful. Almost because it's impossible to really be at peace anymore unless you're six feet under (or burned, as per Hilltop's rules). Still, his sleep is relatively easy. Dreamless, but he awakes with a start anyway. He doesn't know what time it is but it doesn't matter - it's dark out, and that matters, because it's too early to wake up without reason. I sensed a disturbance in the Force, he might say if he were someone else.

Instead he's just staring upward wondering if the other shoe is going to drop somehow, and where it will. Because there's never an escape from that drop, whether it's baseline or a stomp.
