We've all seen it. Original characters do not get as many tags as canon characters. So for those of us who make OCs, this is your hour. No canon characters allowed. If you didn't make this person up, we don't want to see you here and will boo and hiss at you until you leave!

For your toplevels, it would probably be a good idea to include some kind of brief description of your character.

Oh and if you want some prompts for your thread, here's a few ideas...

Half human/Half alien hybrid teen superhero. Son of the greatest superhero the world had ever known until he went bad and tried to take over the world. Now, Rafael tries to make a name for himself while proving that he's not going to make the same mistakes his father did to the Valor Corps, a legion of mistrustful superheroes. He is angry, sullen, overconfident, and has the power to cover himself in a psychic shell of telekinetic force that protects him from harm and amplifies his strength.

Bai Lin

Exiled warrior monk wandering the post-apocalyptic wastelands of 22nd century China. Despite being surrounded by the ruins of a fallen civilization, petty bandits stealing anything not nailed down, brutal warlords making life miserable for the downtrodden survivors, and a general atmosphere of gloom and cynicism, Lin keeps a positive attitude and does her best to make whatever corner of the wasteland she visits a little better. Usually by deposing the local cruel bastard lording it over everyone else. She is friendly, curious, stubborn, and a master of pseudo mystical martial arts.

The voice came from above, where a man perched on the edge of a crumbling bridge. He looked destitute - long matted hair, a scruffy face, a worn tunic that had seen better days and no shoes on his feet - not too unusual for these parts. He was about twice as old as Bai Lin, a broad 5'11", and could have been mistaken for a bandit were it not for one thing. He smiled with a genuine warmth that very few, if any, natives could muster.

He'd wandered into a wasteland, all right. But the look in the eyes of that spunky little monk gave Minoru hope that this place wasn't entirely lost.

He hopped down with the grace of a ninja. (But with none of the silence.)

"My name's Minoru. Pleased to meet you!"


I like your character concept. Minoru here has a similar optimistic worldview. He's a traveling Snake Sage (kind of like a monk/shaman) with a few supernatural elements as well. I thought it would be neat, if in his travels, he came upon Bai Lin. Perhaps they could team up to do some good before he wanders on. Or have a friendly sparring match. Or something?]

Njall, Son of Erland

Immortal Viking wandering about the 21st century. A thousand years ago, a flying saucer picked up Njall and his best friend and made them both immortal and unkillable. Since then, they've been doing pretty much nothing but try to kill each other out of boredom. To make the fights more interesting, they take breaks to gather up a bunch of mortal friends they can drag into it so they have something to lose. Or, as he puts it: emotional weak spots. Patient, old fashioned, jaded, and able to regenerate from any wound short of complete disintegration by an atom bomb or something.

He enjoys philosophizing at 2am, procrastinating on homework, drinking shitty beer, pretending to be human.

He was brought back to life, but with his heart replaced with a crystal that feeds on mana. Grant now needs to constantly hunt down new mana sources to keep his crystal heart functional or he will die. Again.

Imagine if Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran Host Club was the main character of Asterisk War or Chivalry of a Failed Knight, or any other of those shows about a cool guy going to a school for magic people and developing a huge harem. Kohaku is a girl who could pass for a boy who got tricked into becoming the Student Council President of Aegis Monster Hunters' Academy. She must use her wits and her power to supercharge her senses to uncover a startling conspiracy among the school's faculty to build a hidden vanguard for an army of monsters from deep within the Earth. She is level headed and quite frankly fed up with all this shit. The only person she fears is her little sister, who is a terrifying force of nature.

"Excuse me, President," she says, walking into the student council office like she owns the place. Under one arm, a thick, almost overflowing folder of papers. In her other hand, her ever-present cane. "I have some more paperwork for you to fill out." And that folder gets placed on the desk in front of Kohaku.

It's a lot of paperwork.

Courtney "King" Wilkinson

Courtney lost her voice to throat cancer. She found VR MMOs to be an excellent escape from the endless boredom of basically living in a hospital, and actually founded a guild in the well known game Infinity Frontier. It was quite a surprise when she logged in one day only to find that the log-out button was gone. Now trapped in the game, Courtney (or "King" as her friends know her, since that's her avatar's name) has to ask herself an important question: "Do I really WANT to escape when all that's waiting for me is years of chemotherapy followed by a probably early death?"

She is unable to speak, but is rude, violent, arrogant, courageous, and boisterous. Also she likes shotguns.

Gen 3?

In a VR MMO, no one can tell you're not human, or that you don't even have a real body of your own! Being trapped still isn't fun, though. Especially when you take a wrong turn in a dungeon and get separated from your party and completely, thoroughly lost in some kind of teleport labyrinth.

Which is how Liz comes to appear out of thin air in front of King, in an elaborate black dress and pointy witch's hat, reflexively thrusting an ornate staff of wood and bone in the direction of the possible new threat.

Matilda Ekhorn

Shy, introverted and with a pretty severe case of impostor syndrome and body horror when it comes to the changes she's gone through after being transformed part-way into a unicorn through an attempt to resurrect a fairy queen, Matilda is... dealing. She lives in your "regular" sort of urban fantasy world, though the knowledge of magic and the wider supernatural world is pretty new to her.

Has non-human ears, a horn, part-way transformed hands and digitrade legs which end in hooves and a lion-like tail with a very large tuft.

(Don't go looking at what info is on her journal, it's outdated! Also, no sex options.)

Would you be interested in having Matilda meet a human raised Satyr/Faun? Ferlwin's info is over here. It's old and needs a rework, but it's still mostly valid. I was considering something like a first meeting or the like.

"Lordseeker" Amabilia von Locke

Dark Souls-verse OC, especially from the third game. Before her rebirth as an Ashen One, Amabilia was a a Vinheim sorceress studying the realm's magics, most notably the pyromancies of the Great Swamp and Carthus. After her rebirth as an Ashen One, she journeys to Anor Londo to swear fealty to the nearly-defunct Blades of the Darkmoon, a band of knights that once defended those that were weaker.

Of particular note is the suit of armour that she wears (and rarely ever removes), which is enchanted in a manner so as to appear empty; thus, at first glance, Amabilia is most often mistaken for a spirit.

She is quiet and tends to put a lot of thought into her speech; though she is loath to fight, she is not averse to it, if it needs to be done, and tends to use twin swords (one enchanted with the magic of the Darkmoon and another with the great flames of Carthus) in combat.

Ferlwin

Ferlwin's info is over here. It's old and needs a rework, but it's still mostly valid. To sum it up, she's a Satyr/Faun that was raised by humans after being abandoned and left to die as a small baby. She knows a good deal of magic, but is highly limited in what she can actually use.

Ako Yuhara

Same continuity as Kohaku up above. Kohaku's little sister (age 14), a fight-maniac muscle demon who lives only for the thrill of battle. She trained Kohaku in the art of combat, then got bored when she ran out of humans who could challenge her in fights, and went on an underground pilgrimage to seek out the giant monsters in the deep parts of the world to pick pointless fights with them instead.

Ako is loud, melodramatic, and all-around extra as hell. She's obsessed with the ideal of becoming the strongest warrior in the world. Expect lots of yelling, nonsensical fight-related purple prose, and a very positive attitude about life and how great it is to be alive and violent.

Cathy is a junior mech pilot from a Gundam-style space colony whose mothers are a roboticist and an advanced android of mysterious origin. Liz is her artificially-intelligent little sister who acts as her mech's control system. They communicate, share senses, and even swap bodies via Cathy's neural implants. Cathy's an energetic hotshot who likes music, movement, and new sensations. Liz is a big nerd who lives most of her life either online or vicariously through Cathy's senses, soaking up as much of the world as she can reach.

(If you want a lot more info, they have apps and an info post. I'm open to handwaving details of Liz's interface with the world for prompts where the tech level would be awkward. Prompts can be for either, or both.)

There are two ways to play this. One is rejiggering Gabriel to most definitely not be an alien or similar AI construct (but at the same time, sincerely on the Ehrewon side of the conflict) in something like Cathy & Liz' universe: the other is having the two as a Pilot/Anchor pair in something like Gabriel's. Would you be interested in either or both?]

Orion Kislev

Once surly college gamer Caleb Ward, now level 60 Healer/Chronomancer Orion Kislev. He was trapped in his character's body in a virtual reality MMO by mysterious circumstances, but considering that he's more comfortable in this body than the one he was born with, he's in no rush to get home.

A year after getting trapped in the game, Orion now operates as a small guilt's Grand Vizier (self-proclaimed), crunching numbers and maximizing profits behind the scenes. He's a ruthless minmaxer, obsessed to a fault with squeezing every percentage point of optimization out of his build, and also a bit of a control freak when it comes to making sure every battle goes exactly as planned. Always planning five steps ahead, but completely unprepared for what to do if step two fails.

Personality-wise: Apparently deeply tired of the world at large, but actually a top-class memelord with a very dry sense of humor. Gets tunnel vision, cares very strongly about certain things with no particular correlation to how important they are. Very cautious, reacting to stress by over-preparing.

Reply here if you want to shitpost, dungeon crawl, or indirectly make fun of SAO. Can be easily AU'd into being just a non-MMO fantasy dude if necessary. Or any other sort of AU.

Gabriel Nieves

An ANIMa Pilot from Bliss Stage, from the first campaign I ever ran, used with that player's permission in the other fanworks I've done. To the canonblind, this means she survived seeing the end of the world when she was 8 years old, then started to fight back against the aliens that did it until they stole the alien technology for psychically projecting enormous robots made of relationships. Her mech is a bestial front-line fighter that looks like a jaguar standing awkwardly on it's hind legs. She's the only survivor of another, failed Resistance group that joins up with the others later.

Uses the Rising Hero template, which means she's a 15-year old, up-and-coming hotshot ace that all the other pilots look up to.

Gabriel isn't an alien, and is most definitely not sharing her consciousness with an alien from a faction secretly lending support to the Resistance. That would be absurd. This is also not the reason that she acts like a reasonable fascimile of what Innocent Sweetheart Sara Smith thinks a super awesome pilot should act like. That is equally absurd.

She was built to serve as entertainment for a rich man's guests, but then his mansion was destroyed in a fire, and she was left locked in the basement for years, as she was thought to be lost in the fire. Decades later, after hearing rumors that the ruins of the mansion were haunted, a teenager broke in to take photos, and then ended up finding the key and releasing Pizzicato.

She was damaged in the fire, her dress and hair almost entirely destroyed, but she's still very functional, and she loves meeting new people, and playing her harp for them.]

So one day he got attacked and brutally beaten half to death, made a deal with a demon that was bound to a painting in a condemned house to save his life in exchange for feeding it memories every so often so it doesn't die out. He agreed and now whenever he comes into physical contact with someone they both experience one of that person's random memories which are then shared with the demon, who feeds off of it. Because of this, in addition to already being a moody unapproachable jerk, James has a lot of hang ups when he's standing near people. He prefers to go out late at night or whenever the streets are emptier, he stands as far from people as possible, and he gets really annoyed if people stand too close or try to touch him.

That is until he starts to feel himself get weaker and know it's time to share a memory. He ends up going out and finding someone. He feels wrong doing this, so in order to feel slightly less dirty he goes to crappy, seedy, bars, finds That One Guy who seems to be pissed at everything, and subtly tries to goad him into throwing the first punch to initiate contact. They're usually so thrown by the experience of reliving a random memory that the fight doesn't escalate and by the time they get their bearings James is gone. He somehow managed to convince himself that this was okay because if he stops he'll die. Makes sense to him.

He also started a small "business" with people he knew and the one or two friends he somehow managed to make that tries to find these dormant demons hiding around the city to make sure they're destroyed or as isolated as possible so that no one can make the same dumbass mistake he did. He's a hypocrite like that.

He's ambitious, non social - he's not going to stay quiet and never ever speak, but when he does speak or is addressed it's clear he'd rather be somewhere alone doing something else- moody, loyal to a degree, but if someone becomes a detriment he is very likely to turn his back on them. Very organized and obsessive. Sometimes he has trouble discerning the difference between his own feelings and memories that embedded certain fears/emotions/etc into him from being so intense.

Namely she can manipulate certain odds, can view human auras to find potential love matches, and can control short time distortions. She's a friendly, social sort of woman, but often forgets to take care of herself as she prioritizes helping others. She works as a high school guidance counselor, and is one hell of a matchmaker to say the least. Her own love life has fallen by the wayside, and she's only realizing in her late twenties that she has maaaaaybe missed out on some opportunities while she was out helping others.

He keeps his throbbing wrist held against him as he pushes through the crowded bar, away from the bathroom that's been completely trashed in a botched effort to nail down his latest target. Someone will notice soon, and he plans to be far from here when they do.

He's already feeling hazy. The constant pounding, the adrenaline rush -- his gums begin to itch, his jaw aching. A growl tries to push its way from his throat, and he desperately tries to disassociate from the pain and ground himself in humanity. He doesn't pick up on a distinctly different scent until he's barreling into another person, his reflexes impaired by the white-hot flash of agony that abruptly cuts through him at the collision.]
