Hanzo has always been on the other end of this. He had always been the one to take out his targets. It's been a long time since he's been in that business though. He's changed his ways and with spending more time with Overwatch agents (McCree in general) and his brother, he's slowly gotten better.

He's occasionally come across Amélie Lacroix, or rather Widowmaker now, from time to time. "Talon could restore your family's empire," she'd say from time to time, but his answer was always... "But at what cost?". He had no desire to tangle with Talon. He's already dealt with the consequences of his actions while being involved in the clan. Talon was just another organization that would come with too many costs.

He'd never spoken to anyone about these interactions though. There was no need. He had no reason to tell anymore and he had his own secrets. He just never thought that he'd be standing on the other side of of her Widow's Kiss without being prepared for it. When he saw that scope trained on McCree of all people, he hurried over to shove him out of the way, only to be caught in the crosshairs himself. At least it wasn't a headshot, but it was not likely that he'd survive for too much longer, even if McCree was somehow able to get him to safety somehow.

So there he was, lying on the ground trying to cover his wound, "J-Jesse.... I'm... sorry..."

[It all happens so fast.

With Regulus spying for the Order and no one besides himself and Dumbledore in the know, they'd known it was a possibility, of course: that one day they'd end up on opposing sides, battling each other; that Regulus would be viewed as just another Death Eater, not someone instrumental to their continued survival and hopes for success; that an Order member would take aim right before Remus' eyes, and he'd have no time to think before reacting.

A hundred feet from the ground and swerves his broom into the path of the spell. He's never been much of a flier, but that night he might have won the World Cup: he reaches Regulus with half a second to spare, throwing his body in front of the smaller man to shield him from the blast that hits him square in the chest.

The pain isn't so bad, he decides, as he plummets toward the pitch black ground. Nothing compared to the pain of his transformation, at least. He can see the bursts of light that are the fire fight high above — beautiful, like muggle fireworks — growing smaller and smaller. Just as the colors begin to blur, he thinks, I hope the fray was too confused for them to notice.]

[ It's happening more and more often these days. Rooting out spies. Regulus is often present like a silent inquisitor and he keeps his expression impassive at each one. Some of the other Death Eaters are gleeful. None of them look remorseful even in the face of begging. He usually refrains from the torture that comes before the final punishment but sometimes he's drawn in to keep appearances.

He's so deeply entrenched, such a favourite, so good at hiding his distaste that he's as safe as anyone possibly could be. He's been playing his part well but that's it. He's not done anything remarkable, not turned spy himself, not even breathed a word of his changing loyalties to those he'd had to leave behind. No, the mark on his arm brands him for what he is; a monster. He's resigned to it. There's no getting out, after all.

Regulus isn't sure why they're presiding over the same thing amongst a mix of both werewolves and Death Eaters, but when he's told that Greyback has been put out of commission (good riddance if he'd died, honestly) it makes slightly more sense for there to be both present. What makes far less sense is seeing Remus there. No one's looking at him when there's a flicker of surprised and confused recognition before he files it away tight. A werewolf? It slots into place as he thinks about it. He'd been blind, he supposes.

But still--he knows most of the others on trial here. Ruthless, the whole lot. Remus is... Different. Different in a way that makes his blood run cold. Ah. So that's it.

There are the usual speeches. Someone's been feeding information to the Order. Come clean and we'll spare you death - a lie - we'll spare your family too - sometimes a lie, sometimes true - it'll be better if you tell us now - definitely a lie - we'll torture all of you until we get the answer - absolutely true. Regulus takes a breath. It's slow and grounding and his fingers twitch at his side but he doesn't pull out his wand.

Instead, he takes a firm step forward out of the group he's standing in. The group in power in this situation. ]

It was me.

[ There's a silence. Regulus' head is held high, his chin tipped up haughtily. His stormy grey eyes are hard and cold and he's staring into the face of death. What, Bellatrix hisses, staring at him in a way that should make him flinch but doesn't, are you doing? This isn't the time to try and be funny, Regulus. Her tone is cajoling but her wand is pointed directly at his chest.

Regulus' eyes sweep across the gathered people on trial and they don't so much as linger on Remus for a split-second longer than the rest. He smiles defiantly. ]

I did it.

[ The first Cruciatus hits him with enough force (and enough searing pain) to take his breath away so he can't even scream. ]
