and since we've no place to go

❄ it's quiet
and the snow's beautiful tonight
snowfall;
stage i; none, streets are already blanketed in white.
stage ii; very light and intermittent.
stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods.
stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall.
stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it.
scenarios;
① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.
② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?
③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.
④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!
⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.
⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.
⑦ mix and match, or make up your own.

What was your first clue?

[He knows it's something of a joke, but these days he's pretty deadpan. 76 realizes he's stating the obvious, so he offers a shrug.]
Do you want my jacket?
no subject
[ There doesn't seem to be an easy solution here. Two people, one jacket. One or the other will be freezing. ]
no subject
[He's wearing body armor underneath the jacket, and he's definitely been through worse. It's no skin off his back to offer it to her, really, so before she can give him an actual answer, he unzips it and starts extricating his arms.]
Here.

[ Because despite his gruff exterior, he's still got that soft spot underneath, and he's not going to let someone else bear the brunt of the cold, is he? She accepts the jacket and slips it on, going to zip it up and smiling at the fact that the sleeves go down to her fingertips. ]
How roomy. My thanks.
[ She nudges back the sleeves enough to pull up the zipper as far as it can go and she soaks in all the residual heat he's left behind inside the jacket. ]
It's lucky I fit inside this. You couldn't offer your jacket to Reinhardt.

[He rolls back on his heels, as if that's going to keep him warm. The undershirt he wears in combination with all the kevlar is long-sleeved, at least. He'll be fine provided that evac doesn't take literal hours.
It might. He'll cross that bridge when he starts to get cold.]
Let me know if it's not enough.
no subject
[ That's a joke, by the way. Don't take it as a challenge. ]
I'm sure this will be more than enough, thank you.

[He's referring more to sharing body heat, of course, but perhaps he's still holding out hope that they aren't actually stranded here. Still, it's hard to not be running multiple scenarios through his mind, just in case. A place to hole up if things really are that bad--if no one can get to them.]
I'll start thinking about contingencies just in case.
[Ever the boy scout.]

[ She throws him a smirk, though the effect is a bit ruined by her red nose and need to sniffle from the cold. ]
Let's brainstorm. What's our first option should the shuttle fail to arrive?
no subject
[Which is something they should do anyway, if it takes more than an hour. He's already scanning their surroundings for somewhere they can hole up--even if it doesn't have heat, it's better to be out of the elements.]
Should probably do that sooner rather than later.
no subject
[ She moves a bit closer as the wind picks up, pulling her bangs from behind her ear and swirling them around her face. ]
Is that a structure over there? It's getting too dark to tell if that's the landscape or not.
no subject
[Because the buddy system is all well and good, except for the part where they're supposed to be waiting for a pickup. 76 likes to think they won't be left behind, but it's prudent not to wander off in situations like this. At least one of them should stay put.]
Stay where you are.

Please watch your step. It may be icy.

[Despite his general propensity for running headfirst into things without thinking, 76 likes to imagine he's good at shelving that when other people's safety is involved. Since this is one of those times, he'll take that to heart.
76 gives Mercy a nod before heading out into the snow--he isn't gone very long, mostly because he doesn't have to go very far, but soon enough he's trudging back. His expression isn't discernible, exactly, but from his body language it's clear that he's found something they can work with.]
This way.
no subject
[ She sounds relieved as she follows him, arms still wrapped around herself even with the warmth of his jacket. ]
I do hope the snow doesn't get any worse.
