[Here he is, returning to America to give Tina her copy of his book. After some deliberation - should he show up and surprise her? would she like that? - he'd owled ahead, giving her the details of his arrival (somehow he doesn't think Tina likes surprises, even hopefully pleasant ones). Newt makes it through customs without an issue, not even having to open his case, and then he's in the press of humanity, keeping an eye out for a familiar cap of dark hair. Pickett is pressed against his lapel as usual, and he reaches a hand up, brushing his fingertips against the Bowtruckle to calm his nerves.

[ The last week has been... tense, to say the least.

First off, Sesi hates — hates — being on boats. He is a child of the earth; to know the world is so far beneath him through endless dark water leaves him agitated and on edge, not to mention constantly nauseous thanks to the tossing and turning of the deck beneath him every moment of every day. For most of the last seven days he has kept to himself because of it, too moody and ill to bear the company of others.

And then, there is Haj.

It isn't that he hasn't tried to speak to her. He's approached her twice now, wanting to hash out what happened between them. Yes, he's still angry — furious at times — but those portraits of his family have brought... perspective. And some dark, painful nights, if he's being honest, but he's tried to take from them the understanding that his anger hurts only himself. So he's reached out, moved to talk to her, tried to say anything, just to have her turn on a heel and walk the other direction every damned time. He'd by lying if he said it wasn't grating on his nerves with increasing ferocity. The sea sickness really does not help.

It's the eighth day when he finally manages to catch her below-decks. So far she's had an escape route, but it's a dead end where they are and by the gods, he is going to get her to talk to him if it kills him. Which it might, as below deck is also where he can better feel the horrible to and fro sway of the ocean beneath him. As soon as she rounds a corner he steps out in front of her, arms crossed over his chest to allow him some level of stubborn strength over the roiling of his insides. ]

I've watched over you for months;I think you owe me at least the courtesy of a conversation.
