Say you're in a war. Whichever side you're on, you want out. Either your side is losing or your beliefs have changed or you're trying to get close to the people important so you can get rid of them and end everything, you're going to switch sides. Maybe you end up having to kill people who used to be your comrades, your friends. Maybe you're acting as a spy. Maybe you're acting as a double triple agent? Calm down there, buddy. Maybe you just want to run away entirely.
This doesn't only have to apply to wars, of course. Maybe your friends are arguing and you changed your mind about who you agree with. Maybe you're trying to decide what to have for dinner and originally you wanted pizza but now you want a burger and everyone is pissed at you. The point is, things have changed. You have changed. What are you going to do now?
• Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Or don't. As always, we're not the cops. • Reply to other people's top levels! • Have fun!
[ Looks like it's time to start scheming for the Light? With a heart? Because that's not bound to jostle a few complications into place.
Maybe you're his reluctant cohorts, or part of the Restoration Committee. Perhaps you're in Radiant Garden on foreign dignitary business, sent by keybearers... or perhaps you are keybearers. ]
[Sometimes, even for the best hacker in the world (if you're asking her for her opinion, anyway) information can be hard to find. Resources tapped, databanks exhausted, there isn't much in the way of deliberation before she leaves Talon to go track down the Shrike herself. Mostly because for once, there's no alternative: a bounty hunter picking at Talon's spine is a problem that needs addressing sooner or later, and where neither Gabe nor Amélie seem capable of puncturing through to progress, well—
Something has to give.
Which leaves Sombra stranded in Giza with a pair of dispensable operatives in tow and a mechanized briefcase full of false archives, pulling away from crowded streetcorners towards a more industrial corner of the city. As a bounty hunter, the Shrike's interest is predictably piqued by rumors and profitable circumstance.
As a human, Sombra imagines Talon's involvement is equally valuable— if not more so.]
[ Even knowing that her old friends - and old enemies - are operating inside of (with) Talon doesn't stop Ana. For all of the horror and sadness that she feels for what's become of Gabriel, she can't stop. There's a world that's worth fighting for and people that need protecting, especially from the likes of Talon. A surgical strike here, an operation interrupted there - it all adds up and she's known that it won't be long before someone comes calling for the Shrike.
So Ana isn't surprised when her contacts tell her that there's a new face in town. One she's seen before in files, with a name that's lit the underworld on fire: Sombra. Hacker extraordinaire and recently seen working alongside Reaper and Widowmaker. From what Ana has gathered she's smart (very smart) and good at what she does. Of course, so is Ana, and this is her home turf. There's confidence that comes with that, even if many, many years of experience leaves her wary.
The Shrike follows from above as Sombra and her two flunkies head into the industrial heart of the city. If what she's hearing is correct, there's something very interesting in that briefcase. But why is Talon being so careless? Something doesn't quite add up about this. Something isn't quite right.
Ana has to make a move, anyway. It's too good of a chance to pass up.
The first hint of her presence is when a pair of tranquilizer rounds come zipping out of a shaded back-alley and hit Sombra's flunkies. As they slowly start to collapse into unconsciousness, the Shrike eases out into the street, rifle leveled, face shrouded by the digital mask she chooses to wear in public, voice distorted by the speakers. ]
