It had been no easy feat prying Alphinaud and Aymeric from Estinien's side once the man had woken up, but somehow the Warrior of Light had managed to do just that, much to Cecil's surprise. Of course, then, in his typical, annoyingly generous way, Aymeric had also chosen to forestall his men in apprehending her. She might have aided Ishgard and the Warrior of Light bring back Estinien in the end, but this did not negate the fact that she was still responsible for so many lost lives.

That was something that the Auri dark knight could no longer pretend to justify anymore-- would no longer pretend to justify anymore. Iceheart was dead, Father was dead-- and she had a debt to repay to the people she'd hurt, in as much as she ever could.

She didn't deserve the time alone with Estinien. That much she was certain of. But when she saw him lying there asleep in the bed, she couldn't fight her selfishness and turn away. Instead, she took a deep breath, entered the room, and let the Warrior of Light shut the door quietly behind her.

He actually seemed... so peaceful. Cecil perched herself on the edge of the bed carefully, not wanting to disturb him, and she was glad that she had opted to take off her armor before she had come. It seemed so surreal, sitting there and watching him sleep, that they'd spent years as enemies, without truly knowing who the other was, without ever seeing each other's faces, and now they were...

Cecil reached out and very gently combed a lock of white hair out of the sleeping Elezen's face. For now, it was enough that she could just be for the moment, assured that Nidhogg no longer held sway over either of them.
