Toss those dice!

People need things to do when they get together, games can serve as an icebreaker, a conversation starter and a way to get to know each other better.

How to:
Leave a comment with name, fandom, preferences
Pick or use random.org to decide what you're doing for the night

OPTIONS:

1. Board Games - You're sitting around a table, moving pieces around a board. (Monopoly, Sorry, Battleship)
2. Card Games - Deal me in. (Go Fish, Crazy Eights, Poker)
3. Truth or Dare
4. Word Games - Find them, spell them. Rack up as many points as you can (Scrabble, Yahtzee, Taboo)
5. Guessing Games - Whether you're trying to identify an object or what's true, you still have to guess at an answer. (20 Questions, Charades, 2 Truths and a Lie, Pictionary)
6. Party Games - Silly games you get up to at parties. (Twister, Pinatas, Pin the Tail)
7. Drinking Games - You've got your cups lined up and only sobriety on the line.
8. Time Wasters - Because you can only ask "Are we there yet?" so many times. (I Spy, Questions only, the Alphabet game)
9. D&D Night - Getting together for your usual adventure roleplay. Roll for initiative.

[Yurio! I think it would be hilarious to make these two come up with their D&D characters together/talk about their campaign/etc. :D]

So he can turn into any cat, [Yuri says hotly. He sounds really determined, and he's holding onto his character sheet like someone's going to rip it away from him—not that his Cyrillic scribbles are legible even to any native Russian speaker. But by the looks of him, he's pretty into this.] It's a specialty he's honed as a druid. And his eyes look like a cat's, too. And, since he's a half-elf, he can see through the night. [...Like a cat.

These proposals might look at least a little ridiculous, while Yuri sits there wearing a t-shirt that, while relevant, is hard to ignore, but know this: he's taking all this very seriously.]

Ah, um... [ Yuri's not quite sure how to respond. He's pretty certain that Yurio's character is overpowered, but he's got a feeling that if he says so Yurio will tear him to bits, so he lets it stand. He even manages to suppress a laugh when he notices Yurio's shirt. ]

That sounds really cool. [ He offers the other boy a wide smile, then glances down at his own character sheet. ] I think my character will be a good match... he can provide buffs by singing or dancing, because he's a bard, and he's a human, so he can relate well to the local townsfolk.

[ He leaves out the part about the character having silver hair and blue eyes. That's not really important. ]

Do you want to roll your stats first, or should I?

[Superhero poker! Who knew that was a thing huh? T'challa, is casually looking through his hand and arranging the cards a little.]

I'm going to assume Superpowers are off limits? [No Xray vision, cheater!]

[RFA Game Night, anyone?]

[You were absolutely looking for a really competitive gaming partner, right? Right. Poker and Truth or Dare at your own risk.]

Well, this is awkward.

[ Oh my stars and garters, etc. Solo's been at this table an hour now, distracting this man while Illya rifles through his hotel room. He's twitchy, two men flank him and there's at least five others in the crowd. One is on the next table, facing all of them. Natasha slides into the game when someone folds, and Solo's surprise shows only in a brief uptick of his eyebrows. Like knows like. She's trouble if they're not working towards the same end. ]

Can I get you some champagne?

[His eyebrow is answered with the tiniest twitch at the corner of her mouth, cool green eyes briefly amused as she takes her place. Elegantly manicured hands accept cards as they're dealt. Chances are they're here for the same reason--her sitting here at this table specifically is half courtesy, half challenge.]

Kind of you to offer. Hoping I'll go easy on you?

[ Breezily, ]

You wouldn't dare.

[ No chance of mercy. Those are the rules. He gestures for two glasses, shame to let a lady drink by herself, though they both know she's everything but. The mark is a little pale, more settled by Natasha at the table, and pushes over his chips. ]

Of course I wouldn't. It would be cruel of me to get your hopes up.

[The following smile she aims half at the mark, a look that is carefully calculated to imply a sense of partnership, complicity. Helps to put them at ease. See? She's helping. Putting in her bid, she lifts her glass in a toast.]

Here's to fair play.

[Well. As fair as spies get.]

[ And she is never cruel. Solo's mouth curves, he clinks the glass politely against hers. ]

Here's to the best man winning.

[Surprisingly rarely. This is business for her. A business she enjoys, a life she is very good at, but there's no room for cruelty in it. That would make it personal.

One eyebrow arches again, and the look in her eyes sharpens, still amused.]

[Human games are strange . . . and she's not even playing them with a human.]

[Lapis watches 3 shuffle the cards, looking a little dubious. She's been assured this will be fun, but how "fun" can come from a handful of paper squares with numbers on them, she's not sure. Her fingers fiddle with the stuffed sea slug perched on her lap.]

. . . What did you say the point of this game was, again?

[ 3 taps the shuffled deck against her palm and starts dealing out seven cards each. The game had been fun when the others introduced it to her; it was a little similar to games she played back home.

But it still had its weirdness. ]

We try to match all the cards by asking each other if we have them. I'm not sure what it has to do with fish though. A bunch of cards in a pile doesn't look like the ocean, and the cards don't even have fish on them!

[Lapis takes up the cards that she's been dealt. They definitely don't look like fish. Or anything she can even connect to fish.]

Wouldn't it be easier just to match the cards before dividing them up?

[Missing the point over here.]

[She produces an eight of hearts and a three of diamonds.]

I think these match. Do I win?

No, they gotta have the same number. Those are both just red. You need to find matches like... these!

[ She puts down a 5 of hearts and 5 of spades. ]

See? Same number means they match.

But then there are four different ones that "match."

[Human games are weird. She wrinkles her nose.]

But okay. [She tucks the cards back into place in her hand. Hope you don't have anything that matches those, 3.]

Who goes first?

Yep. You have to get the most matches to win. There's a version of the game where you have to have all four of the cards, but we'll just do two matches.

[ Luckily, 3 doesn't have any of those cards yet, but she'll try to give Lapis a chance to match them herself. ]
