The Cooking Meme

 

Food – you can’t live without it, but there’s no need to make such an essential part of living such a bland thing. Cuisine has become art, a way to bring family together, broker peace, and conduct business. It can also relieve stress and show how much you care about someone. So wash your hands, put on your aprons, and fire up the grill or open the microwave – soup’s on!

 

1. Potluck: BYOF, Backyard Barbeques, whatever the case it’s either for charity or just a bunch of friends hanging out and chilling – everyone brings a dish, compare notes. Hopefully someone remembers to bring a vegetarian option. Or maybe everyone just brings something and throw it in a giant pot - don't be the dick who throws in a lvl. 99 poison mushroom. 

2. Dinner Date: What’s more romantic than cooking a meal for that special someone? Hopefully you don’t burn your house down in the attempt and have to order takeout.  

3. Cooking Competition: Think extreme, play it straight or cutthroat kitchen, sabotaging your opponents, presentation, taste, and difficulty is all factors in determining the winners. May the Best Person wins!

4. How to Cook: You got to start somewhere. Anyone can cook, some naturally got the knack – others need a guiding hand. Patience and attention to detail will be rewarded, and it's a good way to get closer to someone.  

5. Exotic Lunch: Well, if it looks good, eat it as someone once said. Whether it's simply obscure cuisine such as hardboiled fertilized duck egg and snake wine to far more exotic fares like Klingon Bloodwine and Grilled Kelpie. It’s far beyond what you experienced, but it won’t kill you… right?

6. Ingredient Hunting Those truffles, herbs, and fish had to come from somewhere and the fresher the ingredients, the better! And some of those ingredients are worth quite a bit so why not roll up your sleeves and get to searching, fishing, and hunting. You might be able to swing in a picnic.

7. Improvise! Got another food-related idea? Throw it in, Mix it up and fold in gently!

6, Ingredient Hunting

When your life's embedded in the supernatural, isn't not too much of a stretch for sentience in odd places, right? Even the Sun? Euryphaessa, already visiting the Earth because space is super lonely, probably saw Newt rushing about with something and wanted in on that. Don't worry, the Sun's still up in the sky - she's more of a manifestation.

They're in a marshy field looking for a particular frog or something a particular beast likes hunting. The only reason everything's not boiling or even crinkling is Eury's condensed herself and contained her heat and such just so! Floating a ways above the ground, scanning the area...things aren't going well.

"Instead of going after them, might I try bringing a few to me?"

[Classes had been very, VERY busy lately, especially as tests and projects were piling on in anticipation of Thanksgiving, and especially especially in Hunk and Pinkie's science-heavy courses. Which is why Pinkie suggested a night off for her and her sweetie. No studying, no homework, just the two of them cooking and eating tasty food. (And hopefully some kissing~) She asked Hunk to pick out a couple recipes he'd been missing, and after a successful grocery run, all that was left was setting the kitchen up and waiting for the guest of honor. (And maybe picking which apron to wear.)]

[It had been a lot easier than he expected to be convinced to take a night off. Both of them had been studying their butts off, and with all the classwork, tests, and other things Pinkie and him hadn't really had a night off together in well over a week. If not almost two. So, when she suggested a quiet evening of cooking, Hunk had eagerly agreed. The amount of instant meals and fast food he had eaten the last week was beginning to make him sick.

Which meant that he had been to open to cooking just about anything, although he had a particular craving for seafood since it was something he hadn't had in a while. So, when asked, he had requested a rather simple meal of oven baked salmon, rice, and some kind of green or leafy vegetable. For dessert, he wanted to make Pinkie one of his favorites, Haupia.

Making his way up to her apartment, he gave himself a quick once over, wanting to make sure Lance hadn't stuck anything to him before he had left. Once he was sure he was good, he knocked on the door.]
