They've won.

It doesn't feel like winning, with all the funerals they've been having. With all the work they have to do towards rebuilding and healing (all the work that they want him to do, as though he hasn't done enough.) He hasn't really, properly, had a moment alone to process things. His time has been occupied with helping Ron and Hermione understand, with holding Ginny until they both couldn't anymore, with talking and comforting and simply being present.

This time, the others had combined their efforts to run interference so he could take a minute to just take a break. He's exhausted enough that he doesn't much pay attention to where he's walking (and isn't it a relief in and of itself, to not have to do that even if he's hyper aware every moment regardless of if anyone's near him.) It isn't until he thinks that maybe he's alone that he finally stops, pulling to a standstill and just taking a moment to remember how to breathe.

He wishes he could cry. Could scream. Could do anything to get rid of this quiet pressure in chest. But over everything is this vague, hazy numbness that suffocates everything else he's feeling. He wishes it would go away.

He thinks he might feel better, if he could cry.

[The war has been over for months, and during the rebuilding, something very odd had happened with the Veil. Someone came back through. Just one person, a man no one had made much note of until long after his death, but who was still instrumental in defeating the Dark Lord even after he'd died.

Naturally when Scorpius heard, he had to meet him. Regulus was going to be staying with the Malfoys anyway, as they were the only family he had left, really.

Scorpius came to meet him in one of the studies at the manor, a packet of notes in his hands. He'd also gotten what Albus had first described as the "fuck you note" and deposited them all on the coffee table in front of Regulus before sitting in the chair across from him.]

[He wakes up, and it's not in his room on the island.

Hinata doesn't know where this is, but it's a lot like a creepy maze or labyrinth in a game. It's terribly dark, and as he makes his way through it, there are all kinds of blades and sharp objects lodged into the walls and the floor. It's as he's looking up at a chainsaw that seems like it moved at one point that he walks across something slippery, nearly falling and probably cracking his head on the floor if he hadn't caught himself. It's too dark to see, so Hinata powers on his Student Handbook, and the faint glow is just enough to... see all of... the blood...

Oh, God. Oh, God. There's so much blood.

And like it's timed, Hinata hears someone scream from up ahead. The scream is... familiar, though he can't say why without getting closer. So he fights his sudden nausea, and Hinata runs.

He can feel his heart pounding all the way up to his temple, which is probably very bad. But he can't worry about it; the voice is getting closer, he can make out the crying and screaming clearer now. It's a girl, too. Something in him is starting to recognize who it could be, but his mind rejects it, not wanting to think about it. Not able to.

Hinata almost slips on the ground again once, but finally he's rounding the corner and-

He can't move. He can't breathe. There's a voice that he registers distantly, cloaked in static and drenched in maliciousness that makes his skin crawl, even if he doesn't acknowledge the words. But that's not important right now. She's drenched in blood, and it's too dark to be sure, but it looks like what's maybe a spike has been driven into her leg. He can hear her gasps, desperate and filled with so much pain...
