Adventures in interspecies dating
Interspecies Love Meme

Vampires and humans. Angels and demons. Ghosts and the living. The idea of "opposites attracting" is hardly a new one, but with the rise in popularity of supernatural creatures, aliens, and other sentient beings beyond our human understanding, the forbidden romance trope has been injected a shot of fresh blood- sometimes quite literally.
This meme does just that, taking the whole "not meant for each other" thing to it's most logical extreme. Of course, it's not always angst and depression. These days, mermaids and bird-people can have their relationships in peace to some degree.
Rules
- Comment with your character, putting any preferences you have (ie, "humanoid characters only," F/M, etc). Also, be sure to note your character's "species" for others to reference (Name | Character | OTA | Human, ghost, mutant, alien, vampire, god, zombie-catgirl hybrid, etc).
- Reply to others. If your characters aren't different species, feel free to AU or anything else like that.
- Use the rng to determine your prompt.
- Also I didn't think I needed to say this, but be excellent to each other. Dick comments and anon bullying are not on.
- Meeting: Did you know there were, I don't know, werewolves before this? Or maybe you thought all aliens were evil. Will this...thing change your perception?
- Falling in Love: You know you're not the same, but your feelings don't care.
- Self-Hate: Perhaps you're mad at the being you're in love with, yet you're more angry at yourself.
- Can't Be Together: Whether for self-inflicted reasons or societal rules, you can't be in love with who your heart has chosen and it's putting a strain on you.
- Pushing You Away: Things are getting too intense, and for both of your sake, you want to make friend/crush/lover hate you.
- Beauty & the Beast: One of you is beautiful, the other hideous. Maybe, though, the beautiful one is ugly in the eyes of society, depending on where you live. Whatever the case is, you don't look the same.
- Confession: Screw the rules, you're going to tell that sweet girl/guy/other how you feel! What can go wrong? Or this is something you've put a lot of thought into and you're scared, but you're going to do it.
- First Time...or Not: Finally, the two of you are taking the next step and getting physical. It may go off without a hitch, depending on your...you know, or- OH GOD, HOW IS THAT GOING TO GO IN HERE. Wait, you have a...?
- The Kinky Option: Hey, maybe being different will pay off. Think about it. A long tongue? Ghost powers? Sounds like it could be fun in the bedroom.
- Prejudice: "What are you doing with that dirty monster?" "You know we can't be involved with humans!" "We don't take kindly to your type around here." Why can't people just leave you two be?
- Facing Your Instinct: It's hard to be with someone when you want to suck their blood. Or eat their brains. Or possess them.
- Because of Me: Your lover has been dragged into your fight or hurt by others of your kind. Now they're in the crossfire.
- Standing Up For You: Hey, knock it off! I don't care what you think, he's perfect in my eyes.
- You Don't Know You're Beautiful: The fluffy option where you're trying to make your loved one see just how much you care and how they're beautiful to you, no matter what.
- Gifts: Show your affection with a gift from your culture.
- Starting a Family: Can you even reproduce? Is it something you want to consider? Perhaps it's new ground to tread, so you'll have to be the first to think about it.

"It can be anything and it cannot be destroyed. But it can be trapped- I almost succeeded once." Neatly tying together two points into one, he also turns his eyes to the fire. The flames change under his mystical direction, illustrating his opponent. An ever changing mass of shapes, beasts and parts of beasts, tendrils and hooves and horns. It was all things at once. It would be harder to see the simulated Deadlock battling it from below at first, purely because it was so small in comparison. Until the miniature, burning robot deals a blow that wounds it and the giant beast folds down into a small ball, whizzing around before lodging into a new figure. She could not know it was Hammerstein, close friend and possibly mortal enemy. Contorting in pain and changing shape. "But to seal it forever in one of my oldest allies was a sacrifice too far."
Not the whole truth, but true enough he reasons. He does not mention he was more than willing to make the sacrifice- it was his other companions who chose to threaten him into trying to have their cake and eat it too by saving Hammerstein and banishing the Monad. It didn't work.

When he speaks she turns her head to listen to him, to pay attention to his words because that is the polite thing to do when someone is speaking. Except he starts telling a story, and inky blue eyes are drawn to the flames and the story they reenact for her. Now that's one hell of a cantrip. she can just turn flames color or put them out at will. He makes them dance and spell out a tale that is probably best told through picture.
"You couldn't do it," the Tiefling says eyes locked on the flames as if the story would replay once again. "But you believe you can do it now?" And at that she turns to look at him.

He hangs silently for a moment or two after he makes that comment, his optics darting side to side in a strangely awkward and mundane gesture compared to the otherwise fantastic mannerism he had been showing moments previously.
"Or there wasn't, until a short while ago. So much for that plan, I suppose." That comment came with a short chuckle and an armless shrug. "Just try not to be consumed by the ultimate evil, my dear."

At first Paladin doesn't say anything, it's hard to tell if she is chewing over his words from before or if she was kind of letting this new revelation sink in. Turning to look at her little supper, she uses the fork to push around some of the fatty bacon and then the potatoes, making sure they get cooked to a crisp.
"Hey, don't let a little help from me get in the way of you murdering me if I become possessed. There aren't a whole lot of people who would be okay with ultimate evil taking control of them and using their body to do terrible things. And if they were okay with it, you should probably just murder them anyway."

Despite his description of quite possibly the worst fate imaginable, to him at least, his voice was jolly as it ever got. Frankly there were plenty of people he would be happy to inflict that one. His objection to the Monad isn't even that it's evil- it's that if it creates a catastrophe large enough, it could usurp Khaos as the prime mover in his reality by riding the wave of that disaster. That was unacceptable.

The idea of being trapped, of not being able to possess her own mind is, frankly, terrifying. Despite her careless response the very idea of being possessed by anything, let alone an evil thing, makes her stomach turn over and her throat start tightening: someone driving all the air from her.
Reaching for the canteen she pauses and instead goes for a flask, that might be a little more appropriate. "However it goes down, it needs to be off my plane."

"Thankfully the Monad knows I am a force to be reckoned with and will no doubt seek out allies. Allies that deserve such a fate. It's a self resolving issue, in some respects. So long as it does not discover my..." He pauses, glancing down at himself, the most minute stumps of his arms wriggling under his cloak. "Less than ideal circumstances, that is."

"I appreciate it though, not using me for bait," and this statement actually has a ring of truth in it. He could, he could totally use her as bait and there would be little she could do outside of the intervention of her gods.
Forking a potato she turns her head to glance at him. "You can fix yourself when we get you back to your ship? Is there anything I could do now? I doubt my healing would work on you," and Mend isn't in her list of spells.
